Halo is actually an extremely average FPS, which, in my humble opinion, is destroying the FPS market. Considering the fact that every single FPS tries to be like Halo, rather than an original design, or like something spectacular (IE Half-Life 2), the FPS market has been going down considerably. This problem is even more extraneous on the console market. Point is, if an FPS were to try to do something, like tell an intriguing tale, all the while introducing new, or even good gameplay elements, there may be a future to the FPS market that doesn't read: simply adequate. And by the way: Stephan Colbert isn't funny, and neither are you.
Fact: American Games > Everyone Else
Opinion: Halo 3 deserves less than 9.5
Fact: Halo looks like CGI (look above)
Opinion: Crysis looks better than Halokaos-hero
Fact: Halo has sold over 20 million copies, all of them 4-6 million in one day.
