lol anyone remember when the halo 3 trailer came out and the game didn't look anything like it? ... lol @ lemmings ... if you are going to hype a game on graphics ... hype ME2 .... not halo. humber_matusHalo 3 used the upgraded Halo 2 engine, where Halo: Reach will use a new engine. But I still doubt Halo: Reach will be the Graphics King, but mabye the Console Graphics Kings (for a few weeks).
[QUOTE="stereointegrity"]no screens no release date no videos no concept art....and yet ur already calling it the graphics king.......Pimp_Dog09
The point is MS is going to start helping relase the tools to start unlocking some of these DX10 features in the 360 GPU. And if you guys no anything DX10 does look better then a DX9 game when used right in it's development.
So Now I see why so clearly MS came out and said don't you guys worry we have some games coming up that are going to own the other console's in graphics.
Having dx10 features will barly make the game look better. It needs to be a game built off of dx10 itself. So the power of the Xenos is going to suddenly awaken after years of waiting then? This all sounds very familiar, I've heard something like that before on these forums.Floppy_Jimyeah, the power of the cell, but they are not lying when they talk about unlocking the power of the xenos, very few developers have taken advantage of the DX10 feature or the advanced tessellation the xenos has to offer, halo reach will be using the first ,to my knowledge, engine built from the ground up for the 360, bit late in the game, but trust me, read up on the xenos, it was actually ahead of it's time when i was released (the 360 was the first hardware to use USA) and it has way more to offer than we have seen already on another note, i feel MS strategy all along has been to wait for SONy to do something, then jump in and go one better, they have kept all there ace's hidden up there sleeve, warning to SONY,don't play card's with a hustler.

I know, I'm just joking around, neither console is closed to being maxed out yet. It'll be nice to see some more graphical heavyweights on the 360 though, the GeOW series is really the only one that comes to mind. But why would MS wait for so long to take full advantage of their GPU? By the time Reach is out, that's 5 years after the 360 launch. Sony have arguably given us more graphical behemoths in less time.

in the long run, the ps3 will probably take the crown for graphics king during this gen, they just need to get dev's to start using the SPE's instead of avoiding them like the plague, MS waited this long cos like i said, they are trying to hustle SONY at every turn, SONY's analysts must have a real headache trying to figure out what MS will do next.yeah, the power of the cell, but they are not lying when they talk about unlocking the power of the xenos, very few developers have taken advantage of the DX10 feature or the advanced tessellation the xenos has to offer, halo reach will be using the first ,to my knowledge, engine built from the ground up for the 360, bit late in the game, but trust me, read up on the xenos, it was actually ahead of it's time when i was released (the 360 was the first hardware to use USA) and it has way more to offer than we have seen already on another note, i feel MS strategy all along has been to wait for SONy to do something, then jump in and go one better, they have kept all there ace's hidden up there sleeve, warning to SONY,don't play card's with a hustler.[QUOTE="delta3074"][QUOTE="Floppy_Jim"]So the power of the Xenos is going to suddenly awaken after years of waiting then? yeah..like Killzone, except it sucks. i find it funny how and sad simultaneously at the hypocrisy/irony that the cows are displaying in this thread. they claim lems are hyping a game graphics king without even one pic of gameplay and yet they've been hyping gt5 as graphics king for years and not a single gameplay pic or vid was ever released. the fact is, none of us knows what bungie is doing. we don't know that the game looks like or how the engine will run. we don't know how MS x-engine will run or look like or if bungie is even going to use it. let's all wait and see what bungie and ms are working on first before claiming "graphics king" or claiming "halo sucks. 500p jaggies".
Before lemmings start making stupid claims let me clear up a few things, yet again.....
1 - The Xenos cannot do DX11. It has Tessellation support, but only because all ATi cards since the R200(Radeon 8500) have supported Hardware Tessellation... That alone does not constitute DX11. Hell, it doesn't even constitute a DX11 feature. Tessellation is only a part of DX11 because MS had to force nVidia's hand... nVidia has refused to support Tessellation for YEARS, and thus it never got adopted. By making it mandatory for DX11, MS forced nVidia's hand.
2 - Xenos cannot do DX10. Not in any way. The only DX10 feature it has is Unified Shaders. Which isn't even really a feature, but rather an architectural specification that increases programmability of the GPU... Other than that, Xenos does not support any DX10 features.
3 - Halo: Reach will not support DX10 or DX11 features unless it releases on the PC. Lemmings need to stop claiming that the Xbox 360 can do DX10. It can't. Period. End of Story. The Xbox 360 does not support DX10, and never will. There is nothing about the Xenos that can do Geometry Shaders, Shader Model 4.0 or even run the DX10 API. Unified Shaders are not the entirety of DX10. Don't pretend that they are.... Same with DX11.... The Xenos cannot do Compute Shaders or run the DX11 Tessellator(DX11 has an extremely specific Tessellation architecture... Xenos cannot do Tessellation the same way that DX11 would do it).... Xenos does not support any DX11 features, and since it isn't a DX10 card, can't even support any of the lower level improvements of DX11 either.... Xenos is a DX9 card with Unified Shaders... Better than standard DX9 cards, but not even close to DX10....
I really hope Bungie aren't taken in by all the Killzone 2 praise and decide to focus on competing with it technically, because I don't play Halo for the graphics.
I wouldn't care if it used the same engine as ODST and 3, as long as the story and gameplay were good.
thanks, you're proof that there are still some people that have some grey matter left in their head. I agree graphics should come after gameplay although both is a plus. Halo has never been about graphics. I do think that Bungie could easily be the ones to make a game with stellar graphics and gameplay. I really hope people do not blow this through the roof and start making KZ2>Halo Reach and vice versa though. Does anyone know if they will be using that X-Engine or whatever it is called that Microsoft made?[QUOTE="Floppy_Jim"][QUOTE="delta3074"]yeah, the power of the cell, but they are not lying when they talk about unlocking the power of the xenos, very few developers have taken advantage of the DX10 feature or the advanced tessellation the xenos has to offer, halo reach will be using the first ,to my knowledge, engine built from the ground up for the 360, bit late in the game, but trust me, read up on the xenos, it was actually ahead of it's time when i was released (the 360 was the first hardware to use USA) and it has way more to offer than we have seen already on another note, i feel MS strategy all along has been to wait for SONy to do something, then jump in and go one better, they have kept all there ace's hidden up there sleeve, warning to SONY,don't play card's with a hustler.aia89

i'm not only talking about ps3 games, but in general. also xbox 360 has a lot of embarrassing wannabe movies. This generation of games is all about graphics discussion, this is sad. I started playing with frogger, q-bert, pac-man on a 386 system, so I can see how the gaming market has gotten more and more ROTTEN, the true concept of videogaming went to pot. You people fail to realize that what you call HARDCORE GAMES are nothing but a bunch of pretty graphics with learning curves, easy stupid gameplay, short longevity and so forth. If someone here is old enough MUST agree with me here, because the real hardcore games are exceptions nowadays. people call hardcore games stuff like GTA IV, GOW. COD and so on.. but they fail to realize that they HAVE NOTHING hardcore at all. Try playing some old games so you'll realize what hardcore truly means. that's all.maybe not, but it can replicate DX10 visuals, ATI said so themselves http://www.digitalbattle.com/2006/08/24/ati-denies-dx10-for-xbox360/ also it's capable of exceeding shader 3.0 http://www.beyond3d.com/content/articles/4/9delta3074
A DX7 card can replicate DX10 visuals... Doesn't mean that it would be able to do so with reasonable framerates....
API changes are done to increase efficiency in various ways. DX10 mandates certain hardware features that are then reinforced by the software, thus making things like Geometry Shaders capable of being efficiently run in real-time. You can do a custom Geometry Shader on DX7. Doesn't mean that you will actually be able to use in a game...
As for it exceeding SM3.0, yes. But that doesn't make it DX10 capable.
All I am trying to argue is that it isn't DX10 capable, in ANY WAY. Because it is NOT DX10 capable. Nothing about Xenos is DX10 capable. It is an improvement over DX9, but still not DX10...
Undertstand?

shh... the hermits will hear you...
It will be 360 graphics king, assuming bungie does a good job, but i don't see it beating killzone 2 or uncharted, but maybe bungie will suprise us this time. :D

Relying on an game from the far far future?therealnerddBecause Sony fans never hyped Killzone 2 for three years, or MGS4 for two, right? This game releases next year. Calm down. But I do agree, no screens or any media. Doesn't really support the argument. Looking forward regardless...
on another note, i feel MS strategy all along has been to wait for SONy to do something, then jump in and go one better, they have kept all there ace's hidden up there sleeve, warning to SONY,don't play card's with a hustler.delta3074In that case, it's only a matter of time before MS announces a new platformer with a massive online sharing network.
Lmao, funny that Ati put something into a console card that they didn't even implement in PC cards at the time of launch for the 360. Heck it was what 11/2 years after the release of the 360 that Ati came out with a DX10 card. While Nvidia had already been doing DX10 with its cards, heck if any hidden features are in anything it would be the ps3.
But for the most part DX10 hasn't really added that much if anything at all, most games ran in DX9 on the pc doesn't really lose anything when compared to the DX10 versions, much less DX11 lol. Most have realised that DX10 was just a selling point for Vista for MS. Now they are using DX11 to sell Halo Reach? WoW.
