Has the PC handed the GRAPHICS batton to the playstation 3

Everyone would agree that the PC dominated graphics a few years ago. console didn't come anywhere near the graphics of the PC.

But now I think MOST would agree that the playstation 3 IS where the graphical innovation are taking place NOW. and as dev learn to harness the power of the CELL more and more the bar will be raised further and further.

Games like Uncharted 1 and 2, Ratchet and Clank, Infamous, Wipeout HD and Demon's Souls all go to show the potential on offer from the playstation 3, the cell and from devs that are willing to put the time and effort in to learn who to use it.

what are YOUR thoughts on the subject.

Uncharted 2 is the only one out of those games that I think looks really good, but I know it could also be done on PC.. so it's not a big deal. I'd like to see something like Shattered Horizon on PS3..

Err no. Ppl need to stop overhyping cell and realise that PS3 and 360 are just at the same tecnical level. Except Uncharted2, the games you posted dont even look close to Gears2. And some PC games expecially Crysis destroy everything on 360 and PS3.

Play Crysis on a decent rig and you'll see consoles still have a long way to go.

PS3 games are getting better and it has lots of good games coming, but the graphics will never match PC.

do you even know what a processor does? it makes calculations and processes code, thats it. yes, those calculations determine what happens in-game, but the processor does very little to effect graphics.

I haven't had any problems with bugs or the A.I., at all, the amount of things going on in its massive open world maps is just too much for the PS3 or 360 to handle.

I normally don't agree with using it, but I think now is one of those times when the Crysis flood is necessary.

Cool, so I can play all of my Playstation gamesat 1920x1080 (1080p)with 8XQAA and 16XAF? Who would have known that all of those multiplats I bought on PC rather than my PS3 would all have looked better on my PS3 even though they don't.

Exactly. It is sad that many PS3 fanboys think they are playing their games at 1080P native resolution just because they are using their 1080P televisions. Then again, the back of the game boxes state 1080P as marketing jargon so they just assume. The vast majority of PS3/360 games run at 720P or below with little to no anti-aliasing and are upscaled, whereas as you stated, the PC can run these multiplatform titles at 1080P and above with full anti-aliasing and other goodies.

As an owner of Crysis and Crysis Warhead I can tell you the AI is not that stupid. And you linked an X-play review...*facepalm* and all this is coming from someone with a MW2 banner in their sig.

What's even funnier is the PS3 is the worst platform for MW2 in terms of graphics, numbers of players and options :P.

Indeed, and the difference that makes to the visuals alone without the higher resolution textures,per-pixel lighting and particle effects, hardware accelerated physics, full scene ambient occlusion, mods and more.

Clearly though the PS3 is better 'cause it doesn't need to use all those things and still look da super awesomeness on mah 28" Sony CRT.
