what ps3 has done to PC is that you dont need a 400 dollar gpu to make impressive graphics, pc devs really dont try to get the most out of a gpu.
my $150 gpu maxes out crysis at 1680x1050
my 'old' $75 gpu played it on high at 1080p and maxed out every other game at that res.
so ps3 is still behind
any gpu can max out crysis in the settings menu, i know.[QUOTE="Adrian_Cloud"]PC fps games look better than the rest of console fps games, but as far as other genres go i don't think PC really does anything consoles can't do. GT5, God of War III, The last guardian ,MGS4 andvFFXIII look as good(if not A LOT better) as any racer, hack n slash, puzzle/adventure, stealth, rpg game on PC._Pedro_
How about Strategy games? There is still yet to be a game technically superior to CoH on the 360 while even the PS3 may struggle to deliver it's achievement. Unfortunately not many people understand just how advanced games like CoH, SupCom, WiC and E:TW are.
I second that. I find large scale strategy games like empires total war, Dow 2, Wic, Supreme commander and even sins of a solar empire ( soase with the right mods ) far more technically impressive than any console game. Having hundreds and even thousands of units on screen at a large and detailed map is impressivelol at cows. PS3 graphics being a bit better than 360 lately DOES NOT mean the graphics are better than PC.

Hehe.. you really don't know a lot about top tier strategy games do you?
Hell no, but the gap has become smaller.
I dont think consoles will ever be on equal grounds with the PC.
Jfisch93
the gap is still huge. crysis is a pc exclusive and has the best graphics.
uncharted 2 has the best graphics on the consoles and comes no where near having crysis level tech

Crysis isnt the only game with good graphics on the pc.yet not a single game you listed can match crysis or the pc version of fc2, gta4, and pretty much any multiplat game on pc. pc always wins graphics why can't you just accept that?Everyone would agree that the PC dominated graphics a few years ago. console didn't come anywhere near the graphics of the PC.
But now I think MOST would agree that the playstation 3 IS where the graphical innovation are taking place NOW. and as dev learn to harness the power of the CELL more and more the bar will be raised further and further.
Games like Uncharted 1 and 2, Ratchet and Clank, Infamous, Wipeout HD and Demon's Souls all go to show the potential on offer from the playstation 3, the cell and from devs that are willing to put the time and effort in to learn who to use it.
what are YOUR thoughts on the subject.
dog_dirt
there is no innovation is running sub hd resolutions so you can make it almost as good as 2007 pc games in true hd running on 2007 hardware.Jesus, PC fanboys are the worst....... I think he makes a good point. No console game may be better in graphics then Crysis yet, but they are getting close and thats where all the innovation is.

Really, I see console fanboys making these threads on almost a daily basis, graphically contesting. And where is the innovation? What innovation? To replicate the detail, complexity and scale of Crysis on current console hardware? Really?Jesus, PC fanboys are the worst....... I think he makes a good point. No console game may be better in graphics then Crysis yet, but they are getting close and thats where all the innovation is.

Yeah, and I always thought 360 fanboys where some of the worst, but it seems PS3 fanboys are starting to show their true colors.[QUOTE="Cait__Sith"][QUOTE="garland51"]
No, PS3 fanboys are.
garland51
Indeed they are, such as sales. First, they didn't care about sales, but now that the PS3 has reached $300 along with the slim, they act like that they're invincible. How hypocritical.
The only stupider thing than people claiming "game" has better graphics than Crysis, is people claiming Graphics is all graphics no gameplay. THAT's when you know they haven't played the game.tagyhag
Yeah..Graphics could have Ps1 textures and still have amazing gameplay.
Do the people who make these threads sniff gasoline all day long? Games are first made on the P.C. so no console game can ever have better graphics then a P.C.
roulettethedog
I dont make threads like these, but I sniff gasoline all day long anyways.
Well on my current monitor I can bump the resolutions up to 1980x1200 not to mention I can turn up the aa on any of my games. If you were to even try that on the ps3, lets assume you could, the ps3 wouldn't even be able to play nearly any of its games. Uncharted would be a slideshow. Why is this? Its because as soon as the consoles came out your hardware became dated and old and unlike a PC you cannot add any new hardware as it becomes available. So how would you expect a console to beat a gaming PC in terms of graphics?
[QUOTE="dog_dirt"][QUOTE="lazzordude"]what do you think a GPU issomething that has absolutely nothing to do with "the CELL"do you even know what a processor does? it makes calculations and processes code, thats it. yes, those calculations determine what happens in-game, but the processor does very little to effect graphics.

you just showed you dont know what a gpu is congrats

look at my rig
i run crysis on the max settings uncharted 2 looks better (some of you dont understand the difference between looks better and what is technically better)
crysis only wins due to the scope factor and everything is sorta destrucble but imo badcompany does a better job of destrucablity
hoesntly of all you people how claim crysis looks better then uncharted 2 how many of you actually have both?
edit: at no point am i claiming the ps3 is more powerful then pc
im just saying the character models, object models and backgrounds in uncharted 2 are better then the ones in crysis
it doesnt matter how high the AA is or how high the reslution your running
a quake 1 model running at 100000000 by 100000000 with 1000000 times AA will still not look good

exactly art > Technology...which is why I feel something like Okami looks better than both of them.
As an owner of both Uncharted 2 and Crysis I feel that I can give an objective opinion. Crysis looks much better. I've recently reinstalled it along with a nice CCC mod and I'm again at awe when I see the game in motion. Uncharted 2 looks nice, but I feel it's more comparable to other console games. Crysis is in another league, graphically.
Crysis looks better than anything consoles. So no.The_RedLion
And yet another thread proven a failure at response #1.
Why do PS3 fans insist that the (almost) 5 year old tech inside a PS3 can contend with modern GPU's. Mind blowing to me.
Just the fact that it's 5 years old should be enough of a clue to realize it's going to get bested by new stuff, regardless of optimization.
Would you expect or try to rationalize the PS3 to have better visuals then the PS4 when that releases?
Stating the PS3 holds it's own against even a GTX 280 is laughable. And thats over a year old now, so.......

Kandlegoat
only problem with that is there no objective standard by which to judge art therefore nobody can say crysis looks better than uncharted 2 or other way around nor can they judge to what degree it looks better.
you cant really debate it because its everyones opinion if i wanted to say vampire rain looks better than uncharted 2 i could and id be right.
you cant blur the lines either and say what the other guy did about how crysis doesnt look so much better than go into technical reasons for it.
you can say what has the best graphics since the term graphics refers to the tech. but right now its crysis so theres really no debate needed for it, the topic is closed for now, the only game that comes relativally close is ARMAII.

No, Artistic can be objective, Technical cannot.
[QUOTE="BiggGaming"]
Game.
washd123
ignoring the term looks, the pc still has the 3 games with the best graphics
crysis/warhead
STALKER/STALKER CS
ARMA2
Actually i can add empires total war and World in conflict in there as well considering their size and amount of units on screenAnytime a cow uses the phrase "the CELL" it makes me internally lol. Don't know why it is, but it just seems to be a distinctly fanboyish phrase uttered by those who have no idea what "the CELL" actually is/does/is capable of.

sarcasm?
No, its the truth, Technical is not objective, Technical is the technology behind the graphics, Artistic is a matter of opinion, an Artstyle is not based on fact, or a technical factor.

thats subjective. objective means based on fact.
not influenced by personal feelings, interpretations, or prejudice; based on facts; unbiased: an objective opinion.

uncharted 1 graphics are no where near pc games graphics.
uncharted 2 i own the game the grpahics are good but overrated. dont expect the game to look like the bullshots every1 keeps posting on system wars. killzone 2 graphics are better than uncharted 2 graphics.
rachet and clank graphics are good but nothing serious.
infamous has not so good graphics you should not have mentioned it.
demon soul is truely an amzing game and im voting it for game of the year but its not a graphical game. graphics are above average in this game.
i dont watn to say crysis. but the games fear 2 and resident evil 5 on PC are better (graphically) than all the games u mentioned.
btw im not bashing the ps3 my psn is hjaber86 and ive played those games so i know. its just the simple multiplat games on pc are better graphically than exclusive graphical king console games. this is the truth.
Uncharted 2 is the only one out of those games that I think looks really good, but I know it could also be done on PC.. so it's not a big deal. I'd like to see something like Shattered Horizon on PS3..
MyopicCanadian
Heavy Rain, Alan Wake ( I know not on PS3 but one of the better looking games), Gran Turismo 5. Dirt 2 and NFS: Shift fail to beat Gran Turismo 5 in graphics. And I have yet to see character models in a PC game as good as those found in Fight Night Round 4.

You need to see Crysis on Ultra Settings then...Besides, you're talking about a linear boxing game that doesn't have a whole lot going on, not like thats hard to do...

Thats being totally biased. Linear or not nothing matches it. And looking at racers nothing on PC comes close to capturing the automobile like Gran Turismo 5.
