Graphics have never impressed me, and I doubt they ever will.

In all honesty, I was never really wow'd by graphics this whole gen which is kind of strange. Don't get me wrong, I'll play a game and think it looks good (and will be impressed by it), but nothing has really blown my mind and I doubt anything will. I remember going from SNES to the N64, yeah, that was WOW, particularly on games like Extreme-G and Mario 64. Moving onto the PS2 was also very spectacular early on with games like Devil Mary Cry. Dunno why it hasn't happened this gen. A lot gameplay this gen however has blown me away.
Closest game that did make me go 'Wow' graphically was MGS4. SW insists on posting the worst screenshots possible of the game with the worst textures it can find, but really, that game looks very good. Btw I haven't played Uncharted 2 and don't have a high-end PC.
This.Nope, good graphics still impress the heck out of me. IIts just that its not really a necessity to me.

True. Console-based development is surely limiting the peak of visuals that games can reach.Well it's hard to say considering graphics haven't really improved in the last few years, the whole industry is cost stunted.
High graphic games are expensive, expensive games go cross platform, cross platform games become console limited; and the whole purpose is defeated.
They have made games that bit more polished, that bit more utilization of fixed hardware, but we haven't had anything set a new technical complexity bar since Crysis in 07.

nope. my first systems were a Windows '93 PC and a Sega Mega Drive.
back then, to play Spear of Destiny (Wolfenstein 3D prequel) i had to go to DOS. there were no up/down and you dont use the mouse to aim, you use the left/right arrow and CTRL to fire. oh yeah!
and then there was Sonic. the first game (1990) blew my mind. it was crazy seeing as it was a 1990 game (20 years ago)
if you grew up with these graphics, and compare them to all that came after it, like the 32-bit (Sega Saturn, PS1), 64-bit (nintendo 64), and 128-bit systems (Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube), of course it'll wow you.
but since i got a sneaky feeling that you jsut started your games in the 128-bit era, then of course you wont be wowed.
If you play PC gaming in general, you'd understand that the resolution consoles can support doesn't even match what PCs output.
Lol, graphics are much more than textures, lightning and resolution. In terms of these technologies we see improvements in a generations lifecycle, but the 'getting used' to it feeling augments with the generations life cycle aswell. The technology matures and at some point it reaches 'seen that done that' feeling.
BUT, this perspective is a very narrow sighted one. In terms of cinematic quality, scope, emotion, realism, art direction, animation, mocap, voice acting etc. the videogame industry is in its infancy, where growth comes slowly. But I agree, most people just look at teh textures.
I try not to pay too much attention to graphics nowadays. It's a real pain but if I do I will always notice every imperfection and that ruins the overall look.
So yes, graphics have stopped impressing me for now.
Most games nowadays just try to be graphically impressive games but forget about the rest of the stuff that makes a game great (like gameplay, story, etc.).
Yeah there is still some instances that I get wowed but that number of instances have decrease drastically over the years.
I noticed while playing Infamous, if you get near the ocean and face your camera to the ocean. You move smoother as if a higher frame rate then in normal play. Also when you beat the mission were you blow up a truck under a tunel. Look at the ground. Their are car shadows of cars that are above you outside the tunnel. Funny glich I found. Your in a tunnel below a street yet the cars above you, their shadows go across the floor.

i dunno. good graphics still impress me, and i dislike games whose graphics are too old.
but mainly, above acertain threshold, the graphics are fine by me. Halo 3 isn't exactly top of the line graphics, but its never bothered me. the grapnhics might be a bit behind other games, but the graphics are quite good enough. if its good enough to be be annoying, then i dont see much difference while playing the game.
I was impressed playing Mass Effect 2 (and not impressed as well because of some of the muddy textures), but at first glance, it looks great! :P I can be awed by graphics quite easily, but they're not the end all be all to my gaming experience.
I think its alll about the style of the game and how well it conveys that style. You have games like Crysis and UNC2 that look outstanding all around but at the same time I was also recently impressed with Bayonetta I thought it was like playing a live japanease action cartoon . It all depends on what the devs are going for and how well they acheive it.
No recently ive been playing Metal Gear Solid 4 which is the most stunning game ive ever played, Ratchet & Clank which is beatiful to look at and Soul Calibur which is also excellent! Im constantly impressed by graphics!

I have mgs4, I just started it but its not that amazingly impressive graphically. Is it going to get a whole lot better later on in the game? IMO killzone 2 and uncharted looked alot better, heck even nfs shift looks better
If graphics are horrendous in a game, then I'll get annoyed. But generally, I pay a lot more attention to the gameplay structures, narrative(if there is one), and balance between all the other elements and how they pull together.
I haven't beaten it yet but the Afterlife club and the scene on the Normandy 1 where you look out into the vacuum of space near galaxy map and there is a big blue planet above you made my jaw dropI was impressed playing Mass Effect 2 (and not impressed as well because of some of the muddy textures), but at first glance, it looks great! :P I can be awed by graphics quite easily, but they're not the end all be all to my gaming experience.

I'm impressed by graphics all the time. And that's not just limited to technically impressive graphics.
I still get wowed all the time. Last year several games wowed me, such as Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, and Forza 3.
This year I've been wowed by Mass Effect 2 already.
I mean is not as extreme as when you first upgrade systems and everything just feels soooooo amazing.
But I'm still genuinely surprised sometimes.
I agree with this from a technical standpoint - having played Crysis with everything on full (no AA, though, as I can't see the difference between 0x and 16x AA,) at 45FPS, I'm pretty hard to impress from a technical standpoint. That doesn't mean I can't be wowed by artistic graphics - I think Wind Waker is one of the best looking games I've ever played, - but my networking card alone could probably run it :P.nothing is going to really wow me until i see something beat crysis. but theres been games that still impress me with their graphics to performance.

I wouldn't say that they have stopped impressing me but I am kind of dispaointed that afetr Crysis showed us what could be done that developers kind of slacked off and didn't try to one up Crytek. Other developers seem content to allow consoles to slow down the progress of graphics.
