Of course, a lot of these problems have now been fixed by Microsoft, or are at least in the process of being fixed- but that doesn't change the fact that they took us for monkeys and spent at least some time trying to push what was at the time the most unappealing gaming console of all time on all of us.

So while some of us might have forgiven them, it is to the others that I pose these questions. Have you forgiven Microsoft for their terrible decisions with the Xbox One? What terrible decisions? These ones-

  • Their initial DRM reveal.
  • Abandoned first party.
  • Forcing Kinect on people.
  • "We have a console for people who want to play offline- it's called the Xbox 360."
  • $500 for a console that was weaker and in most parts of the world a worse value proposition than the competition.
  • TV TV TV (misguided push and emphasis on multimedia content at the expense of actually securing real, meaningful games).
  • Effectively dropping the price of the console by $150 within a year, screwing over early adopters.
  • NOT supporting Kinect beyond one game, except for in UI, and then not even supporting it in the new UI with the NXOE, further screwing over early adopters who were forced to buy the console with Kinect and now have a glorified camera and microphone on their hands which doesn’t even work with anything on the system.
  • For having a terrible, terrible UI, that keeps getting worse.
  • For having less number of games than the competition and worse versions of most multiplats.
  • For keeping their own audience from enjoying multiple legitimately good games by enforcing bullshit policies such as the parity clause.
  • For designing a giant console which somehow still has an external power brick the size of a toy poodle; meanwhile the PS4, a far more powerful machine, has no power brick.
  • For ruining Halo (yes, I know Halo 5's multiplayer is supposed to be pretty good- but the campaign is terrible and the game is the lowest rated in the series. Even if we consider the MP to be great, the game itself is not on par with the OG trilogy. Oh, and of course, this being the first game in the series to include microtransactions).
  • For running Forza into the ground.
  • For still using AA batteries on their controller.
  • For having a firmware update every month. Jeez, MS, did you learn nothing from the PS3?

Again, I realize that a lot of these problems have been fixed or are being fixed- but that doesn't change the fact that they existed in the first place, and they existed because MS took us for granted. Have you been able to let that go? Or do you still not trust MS?

I generally agree, but you have to give them credit for making an effort with their upcoming lineup. The likes of Recore, Scalebound and Quantum Break definitely heavily improve their first party lineup.

Doesn't change the fact that they gutted their first party to begin with, of course, or that they were stuck in a rut of Halo-Gears-Forza for the longest time.

Anyway- they're fixing a lot of things, and for that I give them credit. But there's still a long way to go.

Oh they are trying and I acknowledge this however only two of those games appeal to me (one is more on dev names than the actual game itself (since we've seen nothing on the game)).

When you only have 2 games that interest me and one isn't even exclusive then yeah, that's not a good thing.

I have not. I know that they changed everything and Phil Spencer is the one in charge but that box was built with the intention of Microsoft having control over gamers and I will not support that box as long as it exists.

I can forgive them for trying to take away consumer rights. They have still yet to show a single game I would consider buying an xbone for.

Forgiveness is such an awful word to use in this context. You're taking this a bit too personal. These companies aren't your friends

The point here is, the egregious sins that Microsoft have committed against the consumer and against the gamer with the Xbox One cannot be taken lightly- it is something that would send the wrong message to the industry. We as consumers can affect change- we need to ensure that the gravity of this situation is something completely understood by Microsoft, so nothing like this is ever attempted going forward.

We must all take a stand, if we are to protect the future of this market.

No, they're not my friends, but that doesn't give them right to take consumers for granted by enforcing shitty policies and shovelling down our throats. Those terrible choices of MS I've listed above have all made for a terrible follow up to the Xbox 360, which was an excellent system, and the gravity of their mistakes should not be made light of. I'm not taking this personally, I'm just calling them out on their shit. I'm giving them credit where credit is due, they are making attempts to right a lot of their wrongs, but that doesn't change the fact that they got a lot of stuff wrong to begin with, and they did that by taking us for granted.

You're focusing on the "forgiveness" part, I'm focusing on their "sins".

No Xbox is still shitty. They still run that division in a way I don't like.

Hardly any first party studios(that actually make AAA games) is still my biggest gripe with them.

I hated what they tried to do at launch but got over it eventually. No I don't trust them but not sure what that has to do with anything anymore. Now I hate them again for releasing a truly abysmal Halo game (outside of MP) that looks as bad as it plays. Considering it's one of the very few reasons to own a fucking Xbox One in the first place I wasn't happy.

I'm not sure if they have anything coming up that will be worth having that won't be on PC so my Xbox One could be gathering dust for a long time.

You people seem to think this is a baiting thread, or that there's a trend of shitting on MS, whereas there really isn't. This is a discussion thread, as all the others made by other users have been, and this thread is completely justified in the criticism it is levelling at Microsoft (as the others were too, to an extent, but I'm not talking about those here).

If you want to dodge the questions and completely justified accusations being hurled at Microsoft by convincing yourself of some bullshit agent, that's completely on you.

It's old, these threads are tired, you're a bunch of try hards with nothing better to do than hate on things that you have absolutely no relation to or ownership of.

And you also should have figured out that there's plenty of points in this thread (most of them, in fact) that haven't been touched upon in past threads. Again, you're just using this as a convenient argument. It's weak.

Anyway. I think MS has come a long way since reveal. They've done their best trying to repair the damage and I think it has worked. They sold more consoles last year than they did the year before. They just need to keep up with Sony with the games. Invest more in that first party.

@n64dd: @gago-gago: @nyadc:Again, rather than trying to make your own points against the points I raised, you're using a convenient excuse to ignore it. Most- if not all- of the points I raised have never been raised before. It's completely justified criticism, and not retreading ground. It's not a trend, it's calling out companies on their shit. It's not unabashed. I've accepted that MS are trying hard and making an effort.

You're using this convenient excuse to dodge the completely justified accusations thrown at what seems to be the console of your choice.

I mean, why bother commenting in a thread if you don't really have anything to add to it?

Like I said, Why bother if there's no point. You don't have to defend MS or the Xbox in every thread.

It's gone beyond the Xbox now, it's just spam at this point muddying up the forums.

Well we disagree on that.

You'd disagree with anything I say, what's new, contrarians all over the place up in here.

@Republican11: You're allowed to enjoy a product while still being cognizant of its flaws, however. For instance, the Xbox 360 was my favorite console last generation, and I never shied away from a discussion about its numerous faults. Similarly, the 3DS is definitely my favorite system this generation, but I often take the frontline in criticizing that system's hardware, Nintendo's handling of it, its numerous flaws and failings, and more.

While you enjoy the Xbox One, there is nothing stopping you from identifying some things that are distinctly lacking with the console. Identifying those and assessing those makes you intellectually honest. That already makes you better than a lot of Xbox One fanboys on this board.

It's 2016, move on, maybe we should start making threads about the folly's of the PlayStation 3, because that has as much relevance now that this does, none.

That's not true at all. First of all, you didn't really say anything of value to the discussion. Second, we've agreed on issues in the past. So don't act like I'm your sworn enemy or anything like that.

It's not the console of my choice. I just recognize when stuff get spammed and things are meant to bait people out. It's literally being spammed on the site and it's getting really boring.

There's nothing of value that could be added to this shitty spam because it will either be argued into the ground or ignored completely, you're all a gigantic waste of time.

This thread is done, I'm out.
