2005: gears is announced, HS is announced bothe with release dates in 2006

May 2006: Gears announced for nov 2006, HS announced as a launch title (cue cows cheering for jioy saying it will look better than anything on teh 360)

October 2006: HS not launch title anymore set for December

Nov 2006: Gears released, HS backed to January

Jan 2007: HS backed to March

March: HS back to Sept., then Fall 2007, then Sept again...

So unless HS actually came out at teh same time as gears ur thread has no point.

All in all this thread failed for trying make flamebait outta a good looking game by saying it looks better than a game that came out more than 8 months ago..

I posted one of the best screens I could find for Bioshock:| and I posted no screens of Gears to compare to HS either, pretty much everyone in the thread said the game looks better than anything on 360. As for the 10 month dev part, did you ever stop to think that graphics aren't the only thing in videogames that needs to be improved;)

U should never hype a game for six months when ur unsure it'll be released on time.( like Mass Effect) I understand 6 months...but 10? And we're not even sure it'll be out by Sept...it doesnt even have a official release date...and read ur thread the only person who say that it looks better than anything on the 360 coming out is u.

As you can see, when Mass Effect isn't hiding behind its "1 highly detailed character with blurry background" screenshots, Gears easily looks better than Mass Effect. Therefore, HS could easily win best visuals on consoles this year.

I agree. Everytime I see people post "Oh Em Gee Teh New Mass Effect Pictures OwnZ YouR 56kzors" I just want to laugh my freaking butt off. All Mass Effect has as far as I can tell are nice character models and cleverly blurred out backgrounds. I for one am not expecting Mass Effect to be very impressive when the smoke clears. I do not think Mass Effect will end up in the official running for GOTY. You can quote me on that.

HS graphics don't "slaughter" GoW graphics. Even if the final product HS game looks better than gears, so what? Gears was launched back in November, and we still don't even have a release date for HS. I'm actually pretty excited about HS myself, but I expect it to wind up with mid to high AA on GS, so that game from last November still PWNS HS overall.

I plan to buy a ps3 after a price drop but y make decisions with a game that hasnt comeout to a game with a great score I never will understand fanboys.............

I'm getting to appreciate sony games allot these times because unlike xbox games more effort is but in the character design and acting. there is not one sony game where you play a character in armour- you always able to see fluid moving clothes and facial expression (not guarded by an helmet). When you enclose a character in pure armour you don't need to think about facial expressions and acting.

Sony games are story driven games, more effort is put in its making, a personal experience about one character and the player.

imho gears still has the visual edge. however sword still looks stunning and, if the devs actually have that many units on screen with little slow down, it will be a greater technical achievment imho.

nitpick though, the self shadowsing on the main character looks a bit poor. hopefully the devs sort that out before launch.

360 have been OFFICIALLY pwned. More and more games will come out for the PS3 that will DOMINATE and decent-shooter that comes out for the 360, cause that's all you got. bobaban

i think some more need to die for you to understand great game designs. ok armour doesn't mean bad but it mean developers can get away with creating characters with believable human movement and fracial acting- many games this gen are capsulating characters in METAL because developers don't want to animate. with everything in metal they don't need to make much effort.

we gamers are being cheated with this new trend amongst developers- these days every game has characters in metal- this is not a good thing for the evolution of game story and character designs.

Well for one, only blatant lemmings would ever try and argue that Xenos is "much more" powerful than the RSX. As this generation plays out it's becoming more and more plausible that the two consoles' respective architectures leave them pretty much neck-and-neck in capabilities.

Two, judging by reviews and comparisons not only here at Gamespot but many other sites, it's been Sony who has over-promised and (thus far, anway; it's bound to change in the coming months) under-delivered with the PS3.

Gears is so detailed, I still think it is more detailed than HS. Though HS has much larger enviroments and hundreds more characters rendered at once. I think they even out.Wasdie

what is the difference between cutscenes and actual gameplay in HS, the graphics are all the same just like in MGS.

'Slaughter' sounds overly optimistic, it may have a better art sty1e but overall it looks just as good as GeOW.

Im sorry but Gears of war still looks better, Too Human looks better too. But Im not gonna say heavenly sword looks ugly cause it looks like an awesome colorfull game but gears has alot more detail.gamer4life85

Gears detail is a triumph of artistry, not graphics.

Heavenly Sword, on the other hand, is a miles ahead of it in terms of graphic design--And it won't have to do much to undermine GeoW's AI, that's for certain.

Also, Heavenly Sword's going to have doezens of enemies on the screen at once. GeoW could barely have three without the frame-rate breaking down.
