they are close but look at the detail on the eyebrows for crysis. and even the eye ball looks better. if heavy rain is so good why isnt the eyeball properly reflective and shiney. the hair also has a realistic gloss/shine in the crysis pic
blues35301
Yes, the textures are better on Crysis. That's about it. Take a good look at the model, she looks like a hard-carved wax model.
Maybe it's the power of suggestion, but the Heavy Rain character model looks to have a more complex muscle feature than Half Life 2, let alone Crysis.
And sorry, but dude people's eyes don't shine as brightly as they do in the Crysis pic unless they're very watery. I should know, I stare at myself in the mirror for hours on end.
Second, girls don't dress like you. Thus, they don't put on layers of gel on their head to make themselves look like sun reflectors.
I don't know why people are still comparing that girl from Crysis. She was the worst offender in the game that looked like some sort of walking, talking Barbie doll. It's interesting that no game released thus far has truly surpassed Half Life 2 in animation, especially facial animation.
I think Heavy Rain might be a favourite to usurp the throne.

No. I'm the one who posted the messege asking for osmeone to show me a close up screenshot of a female character in crysis and it clearly doesn't look as good as the character in Heavy Rain. Thats why i said "I win".
way to spin. if you didnt read my reply to you if there are reasons you think it looks worse than the heavy rain close up i explained why. its the best close up you can get in the game cuz the only thing you can use is the binocs. and imo it still looks better and more lifelike than the heavy rain pics that were taken by devs and probably doctored like all pre-release game screenshots. but the fact is that crysis pic was taken on a pc moments ago during gameplay
Uh no. You can clearly see that she doesn't have nearly as many polygons and the textures on her face aren't nearly as good and her eyes look way blurry compared the Heavy Rain's character.
I win. End of story. Has nothing to do with what you were doing with those stupid goggles in the game.
you're just ignorant.
Indeed. If you put the images hue/contrast/brightness to something kinda equal'ish (not exact of couse), it becomes even more apparent. And this is even with those scan-lines cutting through her face.
Other than the eye's, the textures look wishy washy.

yea actually they are. eyeballs are at least and white as well if youre in good lighting. the heavy rain pic looks like a really really detailed painting. its soft. the crysis pic looks like a photo. its sharper

what?! are you insane. plenty of games surpassed hl2 on facial animations and crysis is one of htem have you even played the game? watch how she talks and moves during cut scenes well basically all the characters. even mass effect has better facial animations than hl2. gta4 as well
blues35301
Yeah I played the game. I played it on release, gave it my FPS GOTY 2007 and haven't touched it since.
No, Crysis's animation is prety bloody stiff, especially in the face. Most devs seem to just concentrate on moving the muscles surrounding the mouth, when it fact all the muscles in the face react when you move your lips. Crysis is part of that majority.
Mass Effect had potential, but decided to model all their characters on Keanu Reeves.

Yeah, I do those hair commercials.
It's called post-production. Put it through Photoshop et al and they turn out ultra-shiny. The actual models don't have hair as shiny as that on raw footage, and that's even when they have a three point light set up.

The only way I can think of the character realistically being shiny the way she is, is with an ultra bright light source pointed directly towards her face.

But it doesn't get that shiny, especially in a naturalistic jungle setting. Unless she's got a speck in her eye, or she's on the verge of getting emotional (none of which look the case), it shouldn't be like that.

I mean that the light hits the face in Crysis like her face is perfectly flat. Now, its true that some asians have flatter faces, but it also highlights how her face is modeled in such a way that it doesn't look real (No cheek bones!?)

When your using racial stereotyping to explain how light works, I really don't "need" to pretend.
Pick up an art by a guy called Hogarth called "dynamic light and shade".
You will find light tend to operate beyond shiny, flat and Asain people.

not only that but it was nitpicky as hell. wow the character was modeled with subtle cheekbones so the light hits it differently creating different shadows. is that a graphical flaw? no its grasping for straws.

I understand that there may be multiple light sources. Thats why there are multiply shiny lights in her eye. But it should hit her eyes like that. Its too magnified. Like the photographer said, her eyes would have to be very watery for her eyes to be that reflective (The white of the eye is also reflecting a lot of light, which it should not be doing unless she is about to cry).

Light travels in a straight direction, it could simply be, it's not reaching a part of her pupil wich slightly extends out the eye like alittle bump, it's not a smooth circle. You can also see the light's highlight wich is another indication. It could also be, the light hitting one side of her eye is acting as a reflective light. As in, light, hitting a suface, creates another light on that surface. Stop.
This is the last reply you are getting. Please. Stop. Just stop.

Yes, I'm aware of the shape of the eye. The eye is still not that reflective.
I'm not saying that her eyes should not be relfective. You're misunderstanding.
Her eyes should simply not reflect that amoutn of light. It's too bright.
You can choose to respond or not to respond if you want to. But you've been misunderstanding. Its not that light isn't capable of hitting her eyes, nor is it that eyes don't reflect light. They simply do not reflect light like that. It's exaggerated.
Wow that looks so beautiful and stunning. This is my most anticipated game. Not only is it something really different but it looks amazing as well.

idk but i did forget to mention that when you use them in game it does make everything more grainy, blurry and seems to make aliasing more prominent. all things that could lead to a downgraded picture there. thers like a static filter over the binocs also when you use them
