Yeah, Willy really knocked it out of the park there.
So I am guessing that was planned ahead of time?

No but I think the Big bad wolf and the wood cutter do.

Well you tell me - what do you think the Wii will look like game-wise between now and holiday 2009? Think AC, Conduit, Disaster, Pikmin 3, and whatever else will come out and be good stuff? Any surprises in store? Or will E3 09 be another E3 07 or E3 08?
Are you going to try de Blob, Mushroom Men or any other Wii games coming out this year. I know your a fan of platfromers. Are you going to take the next step and look forward to the holiday lineup for the Wii.
Can subrosian take the jump?? :P
No because I'm not impressed with those as games :P When you look at Mario Galaxy and see a $50 pricetag, well, that's fair. But when I can get Banjo 3 with the original Bnajo on XBLA for $40? That's crazy - that's a much better deal for my money. Blob and Mushroom Men lack "bang for the buck".

But you get free swag!!!!!
If you buy de Blob this week from Circuit City you get a free music CD.
Or if you preorder Mushroom Men you get a action figure.
Think about it free stuff.....At least tell me you will check out the IGN review of de Blob. ;)
Come join the Nintendo side of the force. Let go and feel the waggle which builds inside you.

Its cute, but factually inaccurate.
You just have friendly systems.
My PS3 hooked its exhaust into my 360, overheating the 360 and causing the RRoD, and then the Wii fired back, hitting the PS3 repeatedly with its sensor bar. It was looking good for the Wii, but then the PC fell over, crushing the Wii. However the PC pulled its power cord out in the process, leaving no victory, but lots of losers.
War is hell.

It's very important for them to reserve sticky space for uh... reminding you not to have fun in System Wars. Are you having fun? Did you check the TOU? Why aren't you smiling? Let's put a SMILE on that face... ;)
Ironic, this coming from the very person who's name is on the SW welcome and info thread, who himself stated that "System Wars is not a purely social board" ;) :P

I'm out of text space, you'd have to get Willy to add it below his picture. That's pretty funny stuff though. I'm slightly concerned abou the "having sub's children" bit...
I added it. Shame on Tsug.
And besides, everybody has a fanbase. However, a really great one would want your children.

:) The systems certainly aren't fighting the war by themselves.
Unless they actually could transform into robots. Where's the guy that has those gifs?
There's a 360 that turns into an evil robot in Transformers.
That sequence was the most blatant series of product placements I've seen in some time.
I liked it. It was smart of Microsoft.
Short Answer:You know what I really don't like about the Wii?
Batteries. There is too much need for it.

Expensive.
It pays offIt is kind of weird that in all their marketing Nintendo didn't make the "official Wii rechargeable battery pack". Why let Duracell get that kind of cut? Mario Juice would be a weird accessory item.

I also really don't like that the "games" I'm supposed to be looking forward to are "da Blob" and "Mushroom Men"... I mean, really? I own other systems, would anyone who owns a PC, PS3, and 360 in addition to a Wii have those on their list? I would think "no" unless they have a lot of disposable income and free time.

I didn't do my 10,000th post thread :P Everyone gets one man, everyone gets one. And no I don't want this stickied - I think that just creates trouble regardless of what thread it is - and no I don't want it to be purely social, but so far no one has offered a rebuttal experiment. I'm waiting fanboys, where is the science? Surely we have at least one mad scientist willing to tackle the challenge from their side?

Well it's weird, I have Star Fox 64 and Ocarina of Time on the VC, and I honestly forgot how good those games were. They are, frankly, to this day amazing, excellent titles that are keeping me from getting around to playing any Wii-gen titles. That's ... a pretty strong endorsement for Nintendo's design ability.
And of course a source of frustration ... just... y'know where is Star Fox now? There's good in Nintendo, I can feel it, it's just Reggie's huge head and spreadsheets keep getting in the way.

I've been playing the Wii since launch. Just because I didn't have one personally doesn't mean I haven't played the majority of the games on the system. Your sig links me to something that hypes, of all things, the same games I just told you really don't hold their own against the high-quality titles coming out this Fall :|
You've simply added quite a few SEGA titles (really... not a good bet to make there), a PC port, and a large number of TBA titles that we know almost nothing about to the list. Am I going to get excited at games that could be the next Bug Island or Red Steel? No, not really - certainly not going to be picking up Crystal Chronicles (the first was awful, and the WiiWare wasn't particularly special, no?) over FF XIII and Versus XIII.
-
It's simply an issue of quality - Nintendo has AC this Fall, that's really it, on the level where they can sell against the other systems. They had Mario Galaxy - that was frankly a far better game than Bioshock (hey Ken Levine, this is what *fun* looks like, stop kissing your own butt for two seconds and take a look, you might learn something).
So no, I'm not "excited" - that thread is a warning and a lot of "maybes" - when are those maybes going to be released and proven? :|

I guess we will have to wait and see... just like with any other game on any other console.(...and the WiiWare wasn't particularly special, no?)SubrosianI still play Final Fantasy: My Life as a King to this day. Once you get used to its limitations, it's quite a deep and addictive game.
My biggest problem with the Wii? The optimal viewing distance for my TV is longer than the Wii's sensor bar's range (at least where it's situated in my set-up). So instead of lounging comfortably in my theatre seating, I have to lean forward like an idiot. My life is so difficult!!!! :cry:PBSnipes

The multiplayer was "okay"... the GCN never had a "Halo" - so if you set the control scheme to the dual-joystick you could sort of get a pseudo-Halo FPS experience going on with 4-player splitscreen. That, well, that I'll take - however the multiplayer in vehicles? Awful... they just... failed to get the feel of the SNES / N64 games.

When in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes
I all alone beweep my outcast state,
And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries,
And look upon myself, and curse my fate,
Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
Featur'd like him, like him with friends possess'd,
Desiring this man's art, and that man's scope,
With what I most enjoy contented least;
Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
Haply I think on thee,—and then my state,
Like to the lark at break of day arising
From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate;
For thy sweet love remember'd such wealth brings
That then I scorn to change my state with kings.

Batteries. There is too much need for it.
Willy105
I bought one of the recharge packs...The problem is when you put the controller up to charge you have to take off the arm strap. Which feels funny and unsafe when you play without it.
That's like, one of the best parts of the Wii :o :oSomeday, I should get a game from the Virtual Console.

Reggie became so weak when they made him wear a suit and sit down in an office as president. I liked him better as a spokeperson, when he was allowed to be cool. Now, as president, he needs to speak legalizee, and he just sounds boring and corporate.Willy105

Yeah, seriously. I beat Starfox 64 again last night, and it really does make you wonder. Miyamoto - Producer. So what happened? Has eleven years really changed things to the point that those kind of games can never happen again?
Subrosian, you forget evolution brings stronger games. Even though I love some old game, it is mostly the nostagia or memories I have playing them. for example, I never played Xbox until my little brother had one with Halo. At first I thought, what is this. Eventually I got over the fact it is hard it takes more skill to use a controller insteal of k/m and started to love it. Even though I recognize it may not be the greatest game ever, I have so many fond memories of playing that game it is my all time.
But...
Halo 3 is a better game. It is evolved more balanced, etc.
Same goes for all those MGS fans etc.

d3thm0nkey
That's not *always* true though, outside of graphics, Deus Ex is a better game than Invisible War, Star Fox 64 is a better game than Assault, Metroid Prime 1 is a better game than Metroid Prime 2, SSBM is a better game than Brawl, Pikmin 1 is a better game than Pikmin 2, Halo 1 is a better game than Halo 2 (and until the mappacks, Halo 3).
Hell, Mario 64 > Mario Sunshine. Series don't always move forward, that has nothing to do with nosalgia - simply that the hammer doesn't always strike the same place twice. Remember, I don't believe in platforms - my only concern with a controller is pure haptics, my concern with a game is pure design. In that way, when I say " x > y " it's a rather pure assessment.
Obviously there are some games that got better over time, and some games where you have a toss-up (Animal Crossing GCN vs Animal Crossing DS.... I'd say customizable tiles, online play and headgear are pretty big).
