And NO this aint no weak PC which barely beats the consoles. This PC will run most games maxed out and it WILL run crysis in high settings in 720p.Here we go,

DVD burner. $25

Rosewill Casing. $21

160GB 7200RPM HDD. $46

ASUS AMD motherboard. $49

ATI Radeon HD3850 512MB. $185

Thermaltake 500W Power Supply. $40

2GB DDR2 RAM. $40

2.6Ghz AMD Dual Core CPU. $100

Total=$505.

There you go the PC is complete. And this PC does NOT include extremely cheap and unreliable components. As i said it isnt a PC that will play games in medium settings but it will max out most games and will play crysis in high settings.

And chances are that most people here who donot game on their PC have a DVD player in it and they have a casing that can do the job. This reduces the cost to $450 which means you can pop in an 8800GT and still kepp it at $500.But rest assured the 3850 512MB has capabilites far beyond any console.

So consolietes what's your excuse now since teh PC is no longer TEH expensive as you think.Infact this PC has a better price performance ratio than the xbox 360.

Of course building a PC is cheaper, everything isnt custom, you can buy no-name RAM. A motherboard can accept different types of processors, video cards, physics cards, HDs, etc.

Not to mention usually the size of the components affect the cost as well. Now fit all of that into something the size of a 360 or PS3 for $505 and then we will talk.

displays do not enter the discussion, if they did they would favor the PC camp.

it is obvious that PC is the best choice. Not only can you game on that system, you can do a 1000 other things that consoles cant do.

I think you should add an OS for like a $100... and the 3850 will only play Crysis on high setting if playing on lower resolutions. And you be playing around 22-25 FPS average. But any other game should be fine. But just dont play on playing on any high res. Most LCD monitors now are 1680x1050 or higher.

I only payed 350 for my 360 new?

Anyway, yes I agree my 1200 gaming PC I built wipes the floor with my 360, Wii and PS2, but I still for some reason enjoy playing my consoles more.

It should be fine at 10x7.You can buy a lower res monitor or even a 720p HDTV.It's not like necessary to get a LCD with 16x10.Point is the 3850 DESTROYS the consoles.

You dont have to buy a new OS.I think there's a way around it to keep your OEM copy with a new motherboard. And even if we have to it's sofware.Do we include $10-$20 extra per game for consoles then?

Good setup for the money, but you still need Windows which is going to add quite a bit to that price. I would actually suggest spending a bit more on the graphics card too so you can have a machine that will last. But for $500 that's pretty sweet.

I don't care about the price of the PC. That's not the reason why I don't play as many PC games anymore.

I like consoles more because you can just sit down and relax in a sofa and playing on a big screen HDtv without worrying about system requirements.

Yes, if you're going to spend money then spend it the right way, you put down more and make sure it can stay around for a while with upgrades.

This abomination doesn't even let you top out now let alone in 6 months.

It doesn't make sense to spend 500 dollars on what used to be cutting edge

Euromafia, answer my post above. It completely contradicts what you're saying above. You buy a PS3 and you have to plug it into something....you build a gaming PC, you have to plug it into something! It doesn't matter if its a SDTV, HDTV or a PC monitor!

That's another $250 right there. You lose.

deadmeat59

wheres the disc drive he only has a dvd burner

I'm assuming the DVD Burner accepts DVD's and CD's for loading. I didn't even include the monitor only because console gamers already have T.V.s. An Windows XP/Vista O/S is a must to play the games though. It'll cost you $129 retail. Still, he's missing a lot of things. Like others have said, that PC would be outdated in 5-6 months.

Whats the point of getting a PC like that with average specs?

[QUOTE="Jaysonguy"]

No thank you

Most of those are below average parts and will result in a computer that's "ok" for about three months

I certainly wouldn't spend that much money on a computer that gives me that little in return.

Jaysonguy

Exactly. Id rather get a high end rig.

That's not an average PC at all.Are you being fooled by the price or what.:|

No, you're being fooled by thinking low quality parts are high end.

and you're being fooled by thinking a 360 can even come close to it.

You dont have to buy a new OS.I think there's a way around it to keep your OEM copy with a new motherboard. And even if we have to it's sofware.Do we include $10-$20 extra per game for consoles then?

Thinker_145

But an OS comes with a console out of the box. And, as someone already mentioned... sound card, speakers, keyboard, mouse.....

I love how all these threads are showing up touting cheap PC's that no real PC gamer would ever actually buy. That's the same as a console gamer bragging about one of those brand-x 101-games in 1 systems.

I cringe at the thought of having my hot PC running in that cheap case, and that mobo is a micro-ATX, meaning 1 slot for a vid card and only 2 others for extra stuff. Not good. and I could be wrong, but the Amp rating on that power supply for the 12v rails looks a bit low. Unless I am missing something I see only 15 Amps as the max. And what about a CPU cooling solution? That CPU puts out 65w, but I have also ready that under full load it goes a bit higher then that. That could warrant a new one.

But yes, it's better then the consoles, although it may also RROD on you.

And NO this aint no weak PC which barely beats the consoles. This PC will run most games maxed out and it WILL run crysis in high settings in 720p.Here we go,

DVD burner. $25

Rosewill Casing. $21

160GB 7200RPM HDD. $46

ASUS AMD motherboard. $49

ATI Radeon HD3850 512MB. $185

Thermaltake 500W Power Supply. $40

2GB DDR2 RAM. $40

2.6Ghz AMD Dual Core CPU. $100

Total=$505.

Thinker_145

you do understand that people like to play on consoles because its less of a hassle compared to PC, thats the reason I don't play on the PC anymore. I have built computers from the ground up, but listen to what you are saying. you want people to buy all those parts, then put it together, people don't want to do that, the majority have no idea how to build a computer, they just want to walk into a store and walk out with something that is ready to play right out of the box.

PC in the end has the best gaming but leave all the console players alone, if they enjoy it like I do, why do you have to go on a mission to change everyone's mind?

regardless, you still have to continue buying bits and pieces to keep your comp up to date, updating sound cards and video cards, and messing with settings to make it run just right, I have no idea why you can't understand that.

So you dont already have a monitor with your non-gaming PC?

This is damage control of the finest and purest.

Thinker_145

Yeah, you're talking to a guy who made a thread last week about how my new PC is so much better than my 360 and PS3. Keep it up though, the assumptions really complement you. :|

And did i already have a monitor? Yes, but it was old and small. I bought a nice big new one with my new PC. Unless you're upgrading your PC regularly, you're going to get a new monitor.

Thinker_145

LOL so you are now going to resort to the size.

Damage control at it's finest.

How is it damage control? Its the fact of business.
