I think that the worst aspect (nah, almost all the aspects of gta4 flaws) are in its controllers/glitches but, one aspect struck out the most: driving. How come the physics in driving are so bad, it looks like in most cases you are going 5 mph, or when you go at 50 mph you have zero control of the turning, and takes around 10 seconds to brake. The controls are so bad that the SUV is basically unplayable, and some missions wHere you have to run away from cops are so difficult because of this. I'm basically hitting tree after tree, or lampost, building than wall, because of this.

This kinda confused me a bit, alot of people have been saying the driving in GTA4 is bad but i have it on the 360 and the driving is so easy,i mean they did make it a bit more realistic than before but i think its just fine.

it's a lot more realistic. it takes some getting used to, but you cant pull 90 degree turns while going 95kmh anymore. you gotta break, and turn INTO your reacceleration. or do what I do...go at 120kmh, hand break and do a hollywood style 180 degree turn, and keep going :)

Much better than in previous GTA's. After using the vehicles in HAZE, GTA feels like a godsend.

GTA has the BEST driving!!!

I always just gun it and do a 180 then floor it in reverse for a bit then 180 again...it's SO much FUN:) perfect control can even aim in reverse from the 180.

Not great the break system isn't perfect plus the other driver AI is kind of dumb. But still it's not bad if you played SA it's better than that.

I thought it was quite solid, you hit a bump at 30mph+ and you get airborne, and you actually have to break before turning.

To be honnest i think its better than most driving games with the exception of the Sims like GT, Forza ect.

I think the driving has stepped closer to being more realistic. There is body-roll and you can actually blow your rear tires if you burn-out too long. The sence of speed is less then before but I think past GTA games, the cars seemed too fast. One thing is for sure, it takes some getting used to if you were accustom to the old GTAs driving style. One thing I must say I dislike is the motorcycles. It's dangerous to roll around on a bike. The people driving with-in the city have no problem cutting you off or downright run into you. Plus you can't build skills like in the past so I find myself flying off motorcycles far too often and wasting good armor or in some cases, dying.

It's not "bad" so much as it is very realistic, which isn't what people want from GTA. They dont want to have to break in a straight line and then slowly glide in a wide arc around a corner. They want to skid around it at full speed.

It's not to bad...it does take a little getting use to....It took me about 30 minutes of driving around to get the hang of it...

Now I can put the car anywhere I want it go...yea still clip things..but that's part of the fun...

It's not bad at all. Infact after playing games like GT5P and the grid, I appreciate it. It's not bad, just realistic. The vehicle feels like it has some weight and I don't feel like I'm driving a high end BMW when I'm driving a common cheap car or van.

Its really, really, really loose to say the least. Words of wisdom though, youll get use to it, but it will ruin the way you play other driving games if you play it alot. Going back to Forza 2 was HARD!!! i kept understeering on all the turns because i was afraid of spinning out lol

You can. The main trick is to realize that the both the gas and brake pedals are very pressure-sensitive, and to use them as such (meaning don't hold all the way down on the gas pedal constantly). And that the best way to turn around corners at fast speeds in GTAIV is to use a mix of the brake and e-brake.

Trust me, you can zip around corners quickly at high speeds in GTAIV, and it's so much fulfilling that in past GTAs since the cars have actual weight to them and are governed by physics.

No, but you can believe that if it makes your inadequacy at the game less blatant.

I'm seriously tired of people dogging GTAIV's driving just because they ****ing suck at it. It would be like saying an FPS has a poor aiming system just because you have no aim.

Well you could tell that Rockstar was aiming for a more realistic driving experience, but I think they overdid it. Prsonally I liked the unrealistic driving from past GTA titles more...especially for bikes.

"If you cant do anything great, do allot of things poorly"

If you take any one aspect of GTA (other then soundtracks), you could pick it apart too no end. I have never bought or played a GTA game for its ability to do anything great, other then, have allot of different things you can do.

Everything in GTA is bad... there is just more "everything" then other games.

That describes the past GTA games nicely. The reason I'm so much more of a fan of GTAIV than the previous ones is precisely because it brings the gunplay and the driving up the level of most other games that specify at these things. In fact, as far as the gunplay is concerned, I couldn't name more than 5 shooters that do it better. Euphoria alone adds a lot, and no other game has it.

I think the driving had a bad first impression to some gamers not because of the driving itself but the kind of car you were driving and how the handling was. Once you get familiar on how each car drives driving is not problematic at all. Also most not all of those who first complained about driving bought the PS3 version, and most likely the culprit is the sixaxis and how loose the thumb sticks felt compared to the tight precise 360 controller. Also when it rains the road becomes slippery.

The driving is a little loose, and would benefit from being a little tighter, but I enjoy the driving mechanics. (However, I do not enjoy all those stupid vehicle chase missions.)

It takes a while to get used to, but after that, I found it to be better since in Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City, whenever you wanted to look to the left or right when making a turn, you'd lose sight of what's in front of you and (At least for me.) get disorientated by the sudden camera shift.

Not bad once you get used to it. It may not be the best in a hectic pursuit mission, but otherwise, I enjoy it.

It's more real, and once you get used to it it's great. The only bad thing is the camera... it's honestly a bit too low by default, you sort of get used to hovering the camera a bit higher to see ahead.

Much much better than anything in prior GTA games. Seriously, you cannot take a corner at about 80 miles per hour and turn on a dime using the e-brake like every other GTA game has made it seem.

After playing GTA IV, I tried playing some older GTAs, and I actually laughed at the insane driving physics in them.
