PS3 is winning due to the price drop and of course i only care about the games but for Sony to keep releasing exclusive games they need to be doing great in hardware sales..I see a lot of people picking up the PS3 slim everywhere i go its either sold out or have only one left in stock..I hope this Christmas they will win!!

Ok, I know we are all very happy, because reportedly, the PS3 topped hardware charts this month (keep in mind that we have no official numbers yet, and therefore, no concrete proof). Be that as it may, we can safely declare that the PS3 is buoyed by an optimism that it was lacking since its launch.

However, it's only been a month, and cows have (as usual) pounced upon the opportunity, already declaring that the 'Ps3 has won,' or that 'Sony is winning.' How? Last I checked, the PS3 had a nigh insurmountable sales gap seperating it from the other two systems, and its software sales were in the gutter. How can anybody who is even slightly rational claim in their right mind that Sony or the PS3 are at the top?

I know we are all excited at the PS3 finally getting its due. But we'd do well to stay calm, and see if this success at the very least sustains itself.

Who knows what the end sales will look like for these consoles? And really, why do you care? The only legitimate arguement to look towards console sales is that you need a certain install base to get devs working on your system. And the PS3 has had a really good last 12 months in the games department. So no worries there. If anyone thinks the sales lead the Wii has over the 360 makes the Wii a better, more fun videogame experience, then they're doing it wrong.

Console sales only matter to the few dozen fanboys/fakeboys around here. I think the rest of us would rather talk games.

Considering that "winning" involves a lot more than just hardware unit sales, the PS3 has had an extraordinarily successful year.

Yea, but they're down with AAE compared to the 360, and the 360 has more multiplats than the PS3 because it shares them with PC. And there's no way MGS4 should be considered the game that keeps PS3 ahead of 360. It's a pretty terrible AAAA game.

I'll definitely agree that fanboys trying to lash out would have been better served using the entire library than the exclusives argument. That was just silly.

Anyone who uses AE's to try to claim ownage is obviously desperate. There's no such thing as AE ownage.

BE's are like pennies(nobody wants them. "keep the change" applies), AE's are like nickels(not a whole lot better than pennies), AAE's are like dimes(not as high in value as quarters, but still good), AAAE's are like quarters(everyone's favorite coin for obvious reasons... bigger and more value), AAAAE's are like dollar bills(when you have them, you don't even care about the change because you see how crappy it is in comparison)

Strange analogy... I don't even know how I randomly thought of it, but it makes sense. Lemmings are trying to act like their dimes and nickels have more value than our dollar bill(which they don't have) and quarters.

You do know that each fiscal year since the PS3 came out, its total worldwide sales for the year have been greater than 360s right? The only so called lead you speak of is because the 360 had came out a year before PS3 and thus started with a lead on PS3 day one. So yes, technically you could argue PS3 is winning and you'd be right as long as you talk total sales per year. The only way you could legitimately say the 360 is winning is if the 360 was supposed to last longer than the PS3. No matter which system you're a fan of, everyone will agree that the PS3 will last longer than the 360...and likely more than a year (the year it came out later). I'd bet PS3 last 2.5 years longer than 360 does, and I base that on the fact that Sony's machine is still priced at 299 while MS's is 199...which means lots of time and room to slowly drop the price and continue developing games.

Though the list is perfect; I see it as spot on. Your point is that the Xbox 360 has 29 Exclusive games, while the PS3 has 26 Exclusive games? The difference being the PS3 has 1 more AE title while the Xbox 360 has 5 more AAE exclusive? Nice.

Have you noticed that if you go to a website where the PS3 hasn't been getting 9+ scores then people won't be saying that the "PS3 won 2009"? Maybe because sites, like Gamespot, use - the majority of the time - their own reviews for "Ownage". It doesn't matter what the reviews say because they are just opinions; you could find a game I hate, great! But, reviews are more of a...educated...opinion. Or at least, they carry more importance than the opinion of you, myself or any other poster here. With that said, on Gamespot the PS3 has won 2009. As long as you and I get this across and agree then I agree with everything else you will say [about the PS3 and it's state of "winning"]. Yes, the PS3 is losing to it's competition in every other way possible, but that is not what I am arguing. Most years I would say that owning all the systems will be the best, I still do if we are looking at the bigger picture. But if you were to go with this year alone, with opinions to the side, the PS3 has done significantly better, on Gamespot, than any of the other systems.mgs_freak91

Because it's a nice way of damage controlling and being stubborn/refusing to accept the competition is doing great? At least that's what I get from some people who only argue sales when they can't argue critical acclaim.
