Yeah Skyrim got more glitches and other things. I haven't really run into anything gamebreaking. Though I might just be lucky. :PMost obvious answer: it doesn't have as many bugs or technical issues. It's nice playing a game you can count on running efficiently.

I prefer Skyrim to Dark Souls. Dark Souls biggest redeeming quality is its gameplay, something I wish more action rpg creators would take notes from. However there's plenty of cheap parts and I'm not a fan of the online system. HoolaHoopManI hate how annoying it is to set up co-op in the game. That damn level restriction. I can kind of understand why it's there but I just wish they threw it out all together.
Skyrim is the Game of the Year. Game of the Generation. Game of the Decade. Game of the Forever. Dark Souls is a cheap sequel to a good game that was highly overrated in the first place.charizard1605
Wtf is this.
1. Different reviewers(I recall)
2. Dark souls is more streamlined(less content, but better continent)
3. Skyrim full of bugs.
4.Combat still not up to par in skyrim, and still feels clunky.
That said Skryim is likely the better game, for the shear volume of what it has.
Skyrim also a substantial improvement over Oblivion, while Dark Souls is more a refinement a good game.
Dark Souls has way better combat and monsters fool. I have both games and can barely get into Skyrim because I played Dark Souls first unfortunately.
Except Skyrim suffers from mediocre writing, repetitive quests and a boring story. It doesn't get off scott-free.DragonfireXZ95

You obviously haven't played Dark Souls if you think it doesn't have a story. It has a very loose story with just basic background information rather than an in your face story, true. However, Skyrim doesn't have multiplayer. Dark Souls does and it excels over Skyrim in combat, dungeons and enemies. So +1, -1. You're back where you started.Skyrim being a substantial improvement over Oblivion isn't saying much. Oblivion was awful. But Skyrim is a good and fun game.1. Different reviewers(I recall)

^ This. Skyrim doesn't even deserve Game of the generation, let alone Game of the ForeverSkyrim is the ultimate timewaster, it's drenched with thousands of fetch and drop missions, so the weak minded can mistake it as being 'vast' and
'deep'. The colorless world is indeed impressive, but after awhile it's basically the same grey drap over and over. Skyrim has probably the most janky and boring combat ever conceived for a 'goty nominee' title. The hundreds of hours people spent on this game is astounding, it's the equivalent of watching bad sitcoms. Skyrim is an ugly game for ugly people.

How does it excel skyrim in terms of the enemies? All enemies are predictable. Just because they look different doesn't make it any better.

If people really want to ruin the game like that then let them. Let them have their crappy experience.

It's a lot of fun with a pal when you can get it to work though. And Dark Souls enemies weren't that good. The bosses were fantastic but the regular enemies are just okay really.

I can kind of understand why it's there but I just wish they threw it out all together.Signs not appearing is the biggest issue of DkS. Even when you're same level it just doesn't appear cuz of garbage lobbies. Demons SOuls had the same level restriction and it was extremely easy to co-op.[QUOTE="HoolaHoopMan"]I prefer Skyrim to Dark Souls. sales don't mean anything in the quality of game, skryim had a bigger marketing campaignThe reviewer just preferred it. Although, the people have spoken, and Skyrim is indeed superior. The large portions and reviewers (GoTYs) and gamers (large sales) all agree.

The level restriction is just 10 levels above/below. The level restriction is there just to make sure over leveled players don't help lower leveled ones. Don't see how that's "ruining" the game. The game would be even worse if there was no level restriction.Dark Souls feels much more indepth than Skyrim. Theres just so many different mechanics in the game. There are so many different stats and variety for the armours in DkS. In skyrim, the armour system is much more simplistic, its merely sorted out into Heavy and light. The combat in Skyrim is a joke, it still plays like oblivion. The combat in DkS is clearly better in every way.
Its simple why Dark Souls scored higher, DkS is simply the more complex and indepth game of the two.
EDIT: To those saying that DkS has no story or has a bad story, you are badly mistaken and have not looked into it deep enough. The lore in Dark Souls is actually very interesting. The story itself is less clear cut, and like many have said, it is up to the player to decide the meaning of the plot. The lore in DkS is where it is at. The descriptions on items provide a lot of background information to the world of DkS like the information about gwyn and the lord souls.
I agree that Skyrim got a few problems. Just not as much as Dark Souls imo.[QUOTE="Jolt_counter119"]
Dark Souls is better than Skyrim in almost every conceivable way. Skyrim is very mediocre and it's popularity baffles me. Yeah it's a big game and it's visuals really impressed me considering it's scope but all the little things you can do don't impress me a bit considering it's terrible animations, terrible voice acting, terrible combat, and it's obviously bad frame rate and game breaking bugs.
timmy00
I haven't encountered any game breaking bugs though.
Skyrim's so boring. I really can't be arsed to play it.
There's not one element of the game done well, the combat is awful(especially compared to DS) the stealth is rediciulous, and the magic system (whilst better) is nothing to celebrate.
Yeah the game worlds big, but it still all looks the same, DS is far more creative in it's locales and enemies
I'd say Darks Souls is bit better now that I've played Skyrim for a bit.
The only thing Skyrim does better than Dark Souls is a large world and fun exploration.

If someone wanted to play with someone they know, they wouldn't know if they were both in the same server or not. I think the level restriction is 15% to the host's level.
From what i heard the only thing skyrim does better is open world. Dark Souls does everything else better.
Yeah Dark Souls combat is better. Thanks for posting your opinion instead of just yelling at me like someone in this thread. I just wanted to give the OP a bit of System Wars spice. >:I'd say Darks Souls is bit better now that I've played Skyrim for a bit.
- Dark Souls combat is far superior to Skyrim. It's not even a contest. You can duel wield any thing, two hand anything, different animations for every weapon in Dark Souls.
- The enemy design in Dark Souls is also better. The only stand out enemy from Skyrim is Dragons and the Dwemer centuarians, while Dark Souls has new enemies for every area and they're actually well designed.
- Dungeon design is another thing Dark Souls wins in. While Skyrim improves exponentially over Oblivion, it still doesn't compare to Dark Souls.
- Personally Dark Souls also wins in music and art styyle, though Skyrim is pretty good in these areas as well.
The only thing Skyrim does better than Dark Souls is a large world and fun exploration.

Do you think skyrim's combat is actually good?
Because is the better game, how can anyone can enjoy Skyrim is beyond me, Dark Souls is challenging, engrossing, addictive and it has one of the best atmospheres for any RPG, it's also one of the most tense games, there is nothing like exploring a new area with 10 000 souls and realizing you could die and lose everything, the sight of a bonfire after a heated battle is one of the best moments in the game, also the lore is so good, i just enjoy so much reading items descriptions, talking to NPCs and trying to find what happened in there.
Dark Souls is truly one of the best games of the year, GOTY? probably not, at least for me the GOTY is Skyward Sword, still, Dark Souls >>>>> Skyrim.
The map part might've just been a pet peeve of mine but it really does annoy me. The game is enjoyable regardless, I just threw in Skyrim in the OP to have some fun. :PThat's the reason I'm not buying it.Everyone says the same thing about it,just like you did,OP.
