[QUOTE="WasntAvailable"][QUOTE="h575309"] Being a niche title is defined by the market its aimed at. In the case of the conduit, like I had said, the install base is big and has plenty of people who are interested in the genre. The fact that it sold badly has to do with its poor scores and bad marketing, neither of which has any effect on whether the game is "niche" or not.h575309
If a small group of people thought the game was good then you could say it has a niche following, which it does. That's why I said from their perspective. Looking at it from my angle it's not niche, but from another's it would be fair enough to call the title niche if they thought it was underappreciated.
Regardless this does not apply to Demon's Soul's which has both limited appeal and accessibility, but is still generally considered good. It's definately aimed at a limited market.
Ill agree to disagree but I dont think its aimed at a niche market. The game is an action RPG, which many people know can sell well (Zelda, Fable etc). The reason it will be thought of as niche is because there is that barrier to entry, being its difiiculty. However, I believe the game would sell very well if it was marketed well, as the review scores and word of mouth would push it. Think of how well Fable has sold due to the marketing power of Microsoft. When I think of niche I relate it to genre, and its not a niche genre. Ok, but I don't think there is such a thingas a niche genre as there will allways be a few games within that genre which are not typical of other games within the same genre, and that works either way, with mabye a few exceptions for some really obscure genres/games.
