Reading the comments in this thread baffles me and makes me wonder whether im playing the same game as everyone else. I've literally done nothing out of the way of Sleveling, i mean i only found out about world tendancies thanks to Jandurin yesterday. Il probably continue like this for the rest of the game (unless specifically needing too) and then get all technical on New Game+
Considering the internet has been up in arms over it since its Japanese release, it really didn't "pop out of nowhere." The reason why it got so popular is because its a genuinely good, and most importantly, unique game that is difficult by design, and unlike most other "hard" games (from any generation), not by broken features.
I look forward to buying it along with my PS3... but that's still a ways off into the future.

No doubt and if its as long as the other straight swords it will be sweet. Im not sure if the so called "valuable weapons" are really all that valuable, when upgrading the plain weapons with stones seems to create more powerful weapons.h575309in the end, they'll probably just be collected for the trophy in my game Collecting all the trophies in the game should be possibly after 2 playthroughs I would think no? Still it would take alot of time. You are correct. There are items which may only be acquired and/or forged on new game+.

You gonna get it Wasdie? Its a true hardcore, old school RPG on the PS3 that is excellent. Don't find those old school RPGs anymore.

Perhaps mage/archer type. that's in addition to the new game + I already intend to do

BTW I friended you last night. Only took me a week lol. Problem is if I started playing DS, hours fly by, I forget to eat, and its like 4 in the morning. Game is like crack.
Popular on the boards maybe. is the game actually selling though? From Software is notorious for releasing games that do not reach a large audience. Shame really considering the majority of their games are actually really good. This game just popped out of nowhere and exploded on system wars. I know it's an import but what exactly makes this game so great? I might buy it.

Easily my GotY so far, just edging out Batman, simply because I cant stop thinking about this stupid effing game.

Well I've finally figured out how to beat the Flamelurker. This is pretty much what I had/did:
1. get your soul leveled up especially your Strength to lvl 22
2. once your Strength reaches lvl 22, your character can now hold the Fire Shield (purple)
3. learn the Water magic from the Magician
4. get as many half/full moon grass (i'd say about 20 depending on your skills)
5. skills / tactics
Here's a walkthrough from a guy who beat it in his first time.

You can soul arrow him to death if you have some old spices. Just circle around him and shoot him when he comes at you straight on or ground pounds. If your melee only its much much harder, but doable. Just will take alot of patience. One of those fire pound moves if your too close will break my guard, and if he spams it, it really sucks.
You can soul arrow him to death if you have some old spices. It would probably took me a while more if I hadn't seen that video.

I had him down to a sliver of life TWICE, and the little SOB spammed his ground pound fire move and it was all over. So the fourth or fifth time this happened, I just said "**** it" and took out my sword and just started swinging. I killed him with about 50 HP left. Things like this make this game epic though. I love it. Not to mention the bosses are so freaking cool looking. Best boss design since the original Devil May Cry IMO.
Demon's Souls will be forgotten within a week of its US release, though.
So, guys has it happened? Not sure why he hated on this game so hard...? Anyone know? Im sure hes not happy that DS scored higher than Brutal Legend either. In regards to his comment though, I dont see how its possible since it takes at least a couple of days to really get into the meat of this game haha.
Demon's Souls will be forgotten within a week of its US release, though.
So, guys has it happened? dude, i've totally forgotten about it and am playing uncharted 2 and brutal legend now! ... lol Don't know what he's talkin' about but half of the people on my bl are playing it. Maybe because a lot of people recently just turned to UC2. But I see a lot people online playing DS though; so far I've encountered 15-20 black phantoms invade my world.

:o aha! I knew Flamelurker reminded me of a hard boss somewhere I've played before.

I think he was expecting this game to have like Halo or CoD numbers lol, but seriesly this game is HARD -period- IMO, this is really not the game you can just brainlessly run and gun. Demon's Souls is definitely not a kid's place and you're definitely gonna need your guardian angel to get through this game.I'm far far from a PS3 fanboy, yet I love this game. Amazing, no?SW is over-ran by PS3 fanboys

Damn i hate those fking BEARBUGS, annoying... The flameluker is easy if your a high str/end melee too, just put the flame shield, the ring of flame protection, and block like crazy Enchant weapon recomended for killing it, or if you have the balls, you can grab Demonbrandt from Old king Doran in 1-1, with demonbrandt i raped the flamelurkerWell I've finally figured out how to beat the Flamelurker. You need the key from so and so... (dont want to ruin anything)...Its only popular here on SW and other forums. the average gamer probably hasn't even heard of it.
heysharpshooter
i know many casuals who heard about it.
Damn hearing you guys talk about Demon's souls makes me want to skip class and go home and play some more.
I'm trying to get through the poison swamp but damn its so hard, despite my poison resistance ring its just me being poisoned constantly, luckily that regen ring is there.
I wish more RPGs were like this because its so skilled based but you have to also have the right level. Only wish that you could communicate with others in coop hopefully cross-game chat will help this. But this game is really damn good, even had I gotten uncharted 2 yesterday than I still would've ended up playing this game. Its just that damn good.
28 wandered with Falcion+4 and scimatar+1 is a pretty good combo if you can time the parry attacks perfectly. But its also great against some bosses where blocking doesn't matter. Anybody know when actual weapons that are better than my starting weapon start showing up? otherwise I'll just going to max this out. And when can I expect to learn magic/miracles because I now just have to spend about 1000-2000 souls for arrows after every level.
You need to beat 1-4 to get to the king no? You need the key from so and so... (dont want to ruin anything)...Trinners
You get it from ostrava which you meet in 1-4. You don't need to beat the 1-4 boss to get to Old King.
that reminds me. Do I have to rescue him in 1-2 before I go through the fog into 1-3?You can learn magic and miracles right after you beat phalanx from NPCs in the nexus. You find the catalyst (for magic) in 2 places (one on the first tower in 1-2) and the talisman of god (for miracles) in... 4-1? I JUST found it myself.Jandurin
ok, wow that helps a lot, I found the catalyst but didn't know what to do to find magic.
The Music when you fight Fool's Idol reminds me of something out of Metroid Prime.
Latria in general has this hauntingly beautiful atmosphere.

Im pretty sure u need to go back and rescue him before proceeding if u didnt already.Definitely. Latria is my favorite level in the game, followed by Valley of the Defiled. Latria just has such great ambience; moans coming from
Rydell
, the merchant chick singing, and the monsters carrying around those bells chiming them.
