Uhm. The saying is "Couldn't care less".

[QUOTE="Cranler"][QUOTE="imprezawrx500"][QUOTE="Amit_Raj"]how do u feel knowing its gonna be outdated in 6 months ..whereas consoles arent for 3-4 yrs atleast cobrax25
consoles were outdated they day the 7800gtx came out (june 2005) and again in xmas 2006 and again just recently. the 8800gt is still one of the best cards for its price
Any multiplatform game will run better on 360 than a pc with 7800gtx.
Orange box? C&C3?
Bioshock may very well also.
and I can probably find a lot of others.
Show the benches. I've seen the 7800gtx bench in the teens at Oblivion gates. And thats without aa.
[QUOTE="Bgrngod"][QUOTE="Cranler"]Are you aware that COD4 is locked at 60fps on 360? If the goal was 30fps they could have easily done 720p.
Similar hardware on a pc would need everything set on low at 800x600 to stay at 60fps.Cranler
Uh... no. I'm rocking 1680x1050 on an 8xAGP card with a steady 50 FPS all the time. That's almost 4x the pixels per image for 10 frames less per second.
Uh... No.
7900gtx is faster than any agp card and coupled with a core 2 x6800 benched only 34fps at 1280x1024 no aa right here at Gamespot. Those benchmarks are on par with other sites. Do you have a magical pc?
34fps means about 25-70 fps. Dropping to 1024x768 will gain about 10 frames average and thats still well below the 360's constant 60fps with 1024x600 2xaa.
Alrighty, I am making an admission here. I came home from work and tested COD4 on my rig to make sure I wasn't speaking out my ass. Evidentally I was. I wasn't playing it at 1680x1050. It was at 1280x1024 with all settings turned up. Sorry about that. Here is a screenshot with fraps going while playing at 800x600 with all settings turned down so you can see how silly your statement was (looks horrid btw):
This is running on a 3.4E P4 (that's one lonely core for those that are counting) clocked up to 3.85ghz and an 8xAGP 7950GT clocked up to 572/1328.
I'll gladly get some shots of the game running at settings "equal" to what the 360 has if you want. I'm just not sure what settings the 360 has for shading and textures and all the crap on this page (although I think the settings in this screenshot are close):
Here's a shot running at the settings above:
Now from what I understand the 360 is running COD4 at 1024x600. My system in the screenshots above is running 1024x768 which is 28% higher based on pixel per frame count. So if I COULD manage to match the exact resolution of the 360, my framerate would be even higher.
Anywho. My ultimate point here being, an 8xAGP system can indeed outperform the 360 on COD4.
[QUOTE="OmegaOrtega"]It feels awesome because I know the next PC I build will be a beast.
Console gamers that aren't into PC gaming miss out. Though not as much as PC gamers who aren't into console, they surely miss out on alot of unique titles.
But regardless I try to have as many systems as possible, and my new PC for Starcraft II, Crysis and Guild Wars II will be one of my systems.
Though I must say I can't see myself buying a 360. It's excellent titles seem to migrant over to PC or they already exist on PS3..
Orange Box (dominant on PC), Bioshock (also dominant on PC, COD4 (just as good on PS3 dominant on PC), Oblivion (better on PS3 dominant on PC), Gears is better on PC with the right hardware, Halo 3 may come to PC but eh.. I already got bored of it, Mass Effect has been improved for PC, GRAW is certainly good on the other platforms, an oldy COD2 is better on PC. And I'll stop there. So yeah owning a PC is underrated by console lovers.
Microsoft does an excellent job, bringing PC like titles to it's console for a lower price, but come on PC is Microsoft's cup of tea and it shows. I rather play the games I've mentioned above on PC and own my other consoles to play all those crazy but good Japanese titles. Or console exclusives like God of War, Metal Gear, Smash Bros and more.
Painballz
Consoles owners who says PC isn't good, never played it
I had 3 people play mine with Half Life 2 maxed out back in 2006. All they could do is complain about keyboard and mouse, how crappy it was that heads didn't explode like Gears and just wouldn't shut up about Gears. And Gears is so not more impressive than even the 2004 HL2.
Now that Orange Box is out for consoles, even after dissing HL2 on PC they are drooling over OB.
Console only gamers are pretty closed minded if you ask me. PC only gamers too.

I thought 720p was what the consoles run COD4 at. And from what I hear both consoles manage to keep COD4 running at 60 frames per second most of the time.
Also, your last screen looks noticably worse than it does on the consoles. But it doesn't look much worse. Thats really good for AGP.
Now when it comes to PCI-E... yeah it's not even worth comparing a decent PCI-E card to consoles. There is simply no comparison.
PCs are more advanced than consoles you're right but games are better optimized for consoles(wii not included), and consoles are just more fun, controller beats keyboard :PAl3x_n90
Try playing Crysis with a controller and you'll see why this isn't true. I tried the PC gaming controller I have and it's terrible.

-_- Can't play NG2 so I don't care. Also, the x1900xtx and 7800 are no where near being weak by todays standards...they are still considered beasts. I had a x1900xtx...that thing was amazing.

Really? Thats why people with 8800 from 06 still runs games high-maxed in REAL HD right?
How much did the 8800 cost in 06? :|
The GTS 640 mb was over $400...
[QUOTE="expanded"]512mb.. that wouldn't be amazing in 5 months.. its still a good deal though..sSubZerOo
 What are you talking about.. I have yet to see any game being released in the next 2 years rivaling Crysis in visuals for the PC. And the 8800 GT plays the game quite well.
Here's my question.
How does it feel making a redundant observation that has been common knowledge to gaming for generations and then acting like it's something you just discovered?
:)

People think consoles have a secret power and that games are going to keep up with PC.

There is no secret power, but they do generally keep up with PC. The gap between the two isn't that huge, even though there is one. If you ask the average gamer to tell you the difference between the PC and console versions of games like gears, UT3, etc. they probably won't be able to tell the difference. There is nothing wrong with PC gaming or Console gaming. They are both great ways to play video games depending on what you like.[QUOTE="-RPGamer-"]Here's my question.

I think normal gamers are open that consoles have some room for growth as developers push said hardware to it's limits (some of the best looking titles consoles usually produce enter near the end of their life spans). If you're basing your comments off some SW statements, well have fun is all I can say to that.
All I'm saying is that what you're talking about has happened to consoles every generation, and it will continue to be this way for as long as consoles and PC have fundamental differences as they do now.
How come PS3 can run Assasin's Creed with that Geforce and I cant with the same one (Well I can't max it nor medium only low)... And the Ps3 has what 512 ram, and on Pc I need like 6X that... I really don't get it.haris12121212
I also dont get how you can say the Xbox and PS3 cards are useless by today's standards because they're old, but then immediately say that two year old PC cards will run any game in HD just fine. :|
One minute being older and not quite up to scratch with the new stuff is unforgiveable, then it's perfectly fine. And if, as you say, the 06 cards can run any game today in "REAL HD on high setting" than why do we need to buy this new card, which you say also runs games in "REAL HD on high settings".
People think consoles have a secret power and that games are going to keep up with PC.PainballzNo, not really. We're well aware that you can buy a PC that's more powerful than a console. In fact, I own one. I just don't care. I'd prefer to play on my couch, with a gamepad, with my friends. The PC is nice for stuff that doesn't come out on console, but otherwise, I'll take the 360 or PS3. Every. Single. Time.
Console gaming is an entirely different experience from PC gaming. What PC fans call a lack of control, we call full service - we don't have to configure resolution and detail settings, we don't have to maintain our drivers, we don't have to download our own patches (though PC games are getting better at this), we just sit down and play. Step 1: turn on machine. Step 2: insert disc. Step 3: there is no step 3; you're playing the game. Yes, you have more control on a PC over whether you want to run in a higher resolution or turn on antialiasing, but be honest: does it make the game more fun?
The question is, why would someone with an E6750, 8800 GT, and 4 GB of RAM still choose to sit out in his living room and play on a console? When you understand why there are very valid answers to that question, then you might begin to see that just because someone else's preferences don't align with yours doesn't make them wrong.

Higher Player Count

I don't give, PC specs are higher then console specs because PC games are poorly optimized. Consoles can play any game I throw at it, PC has so many levels to watch for and it annoys me, annoys me enough to stop PC gaming.Toriko42
Toriko, you know little to nothing about PC's

I reposted the parts of my original post that you apparently ignored. Try again. I'm well aware of all that stuff; I've been playing PC games since 1994. What were you doing in 1994, anyway? The more hassle-free experience of console gaming is worth having "only" 16 players instead of 32/64. It's worth giving up mods. It's worth the modest loss in graphics. It's a matter of personal preference, and you're not going to change anyone's preferences.

i do think the tc is over exagerating about consoles having awful fps
but console gamers come on
you all have a pc, how can you post if not? that means alot of your parts are already covered, case, monitor, ram ect
if your telling the tc to make a full system from scratch, then let me post this to see the REAL price of console gaming
ps3 500
HDTV 1000
games +20
other accesories (hd cables) 60+
as you can see it is much over 1600 dollars for console gaming,
pc games are 20 bucks ceahper, it adds up, and by the year end if you compare pc vs console, the pc gamer can save up to 200-300 dollars in terms of buying games, and pc gamers will spend that in a video card once every 2-3 years,
i really think consoles are more expensive if you want the full experience vs pc full experienceRiki101
