250 dollars plus a good and expensive memory card just to get started.

Ugh... did know you haunt me in my nightmares too?I just checked the US Amazon and they have a 4GB Vita Memory Card for $20! Why are you people complaining? 4GB is more than enough to actually play the games and store savedata. Obviously if you want to purchase a lot of retail games on PSN you'll need more, but you can easily manage with 4GB if you buy physical.
You also get the option to purchase 32GB. We in Europe are limited to 16GB. Once again WE get the shaft and you lot complain.

When the Vita was announced and the price was annouced 250$ EVERYONE cheered, I remember that E3 like it was yesterday, everyone was expecting a much more expensive handheld because of everything it had and the price of the 3DS and it not having almost anything. It's just haters doing the hating.
It isn't overpriced at all. It is killer tech, and if it is reliable I may buy one before too long. Depends on the game lineup come E3.
4GB is good for next to nothing. 32GB is the only way to go.[QUOTE="Asim90"]

How is 4GB nothing? A 32GB memory card is NOT a necessity! It's a luxury. If you want a luxury then fork out the cash. A memory card is only NEEDED to store savedata in which case 4GB will store thousands.
If you buy games at retail then you don't need a large memory card. Again, it's a luxury so fork out the cash or stop whining.

People are claiming that you need a huge memory stick to 'get you going'.. that is nonsense. The Vita is a gaming device and a memory stick is REQUIRED to store savedata. The vast majority of people buy games at retail and everyone can do this. Now, IF you want to go digitial and store lots on a card then that is your choice. BUT, it is a CHOICE. You aren't forced to spend money on a big memory stick to play the games. You CAN play them by buying the game on the darn memory stick at retail.
DD is an additional option where you will need to spend more. BUT, it is an OPTION. Not a requirement. You're implying that everyone needs 32GB to actually use the device and play the games which is false.

You could put it however you want. When a handheld cost more than current HD consoles, it's overpriced.
lol. So is this a bias towards handhelds or tech altogether? The Amazon Kindle is sold for a small loss but costs as much as the 360, is it overpriced?
Except, the Kindle isn't meant for gaming...

You bloody Americans should be the last complain, you get it for a mere $250. People were expecting it to be priced at $350 yet you people still whine. If anyone should complain it should be us in the UK since we have to pay £220 / $350. Even then, it's still reasonable considering all the amazing tech inside it. Bloody cheapskate Americans..
arkephonic
Jeez, it is $350 in the UK? It is going to bomb in the UK. How expensive is it in Japan? Is it the same price over there?
$320 for Wifi and $390 for 3G in Japan last time I heard. Dat strong yen.I agree with you, Asim. I only buy retail, physical copies of games. I have zero interest in digitally distributed games whatsoever. The 4GB memory card would be more than enough to suit my needs. The larger memory cards are a luxury, they are needed if you want to take advantage of everything the device is capable of, but for me it wouldn't be needed.

Ask a moronic question and go off topic.. yes that really helps your argument.
Your statements are comparable to a sleazy used car salesman who tells people what they want to hear just to get them to buy something that isn't very good. Telling people that a 4GB memory card is good enough for everone to "get going" is very deceptive and misleading. 99% of people are going to need something significantly bigger, and that's a fact. Ask anyone here and I bet you almost no one who is getting a Vita at launch will be getting a 4GB memory card.Your simple-minded matter-of-fact statements about the 4GB memory card being enough to save data is technically enough for a bare minimum, but that's not what most people want, and not what they'll accept.

The memory cards are overpriced, yes, but the 4GB card exists for a reason. It exists for people like me who would not buy anything digitally, and would buy all their games retail, using the memory card for saving purposes only. It's nice to have the option of a smaller memory card, especially if I don't need the extra space.
What about Gravity Rush? If that turns out to be one of the best games in the Vita library, even people like you are going to want to download it. It'll probably be several gigs by itself. What if other DD-only games come out and turn out to be among the best games available? Then folks who bought the 4GB memory card are going to have to buy a bigger one, and then transfer all their data, et cetera. The memory cards are overpriced, yes, but the 4GB card exists for a reason. Uncharted is JUST over 2GB i assume DD only games will be alot less the smallest game i think was roughly 400MB, And uncharted is a HUGE game, one MAYBE two 4GB Memory cards will be enough, and hell if alot more games come out that you want then most likely card prices will drop by then I dont see why your complaining about it =s. Im not trying to justify the cards they sure are expensive but until they drop in price there are very easy ways to get around them.
Also whats with people saying all the games are $50 ? even aussie prices at Ozgameshop is not that much, Uncharted is $52 and ill most likely wait for a price drop but the rest are alot lower, hell if its still too much wait for a price drop or wait for deals.
and vita games in store are the same price as 3DS games... seriously Uncharted: GA is $59 at JBHIFI, Revelations is the exact same price at the same store...Also whats with people saying all the games are $50 ? even aussie prices at Ozgameshop is not that much, Uncharted is $52 and ill most likely wait for a price drop but the rest are alot lower, hell if its still too much wait for a price drop or wait for deals.

Weren't people saying that i could be as high as $300-$350 before it was shown at E3? Then SONY decides to take a blow and sell it at $250... and still people are complaining? ...poor people...
Second_Hokage
Right. Allow me to knock reality to come back biting bloody hard:
1. 250 for a system which requires PROPRIETARY memory cards only released by Sony. An ideal one for a half-***** backward compatibility is the 16 gb to 32 gb. GUESS WHAT?! They cost 60 or 100 bucks respectively.
2. The choice of games range from 40-50 bucks a pop. (40 I do not mind, the 50 dollar ones are ridiculous)
3. Sony ISN'T losing money on the wi-fi version. The machine costs less to make. and they're selling it for 250.
So $300+ for a bloody portable is going into console territory. I would have been fine with 250 had they used a more standardized format and better BC option, but seriously they haven't and it grinds my gears.

Before E3
$400=Sony bombs
$350=Would suck, but not unlikely
$300=This is what I expect, decent price, fair, do want, won't be lower
$250=keep friggin dreaming
After E3=HOLY CRAP $250!!!
After 3DS price drop=Overpriced must flop Sony doomed trololo
Everyone whining about the memory stick, no one expected it to even be $250. If you bought a 3DS at launch you have to buy the stupid analogue attachment now, that's like buying a Vita and an 8GB stick, no?

It's consumer perception.
We view any item that has been subjected to a higher cost than was advertised--even if it was a good deal before--as overpriced.
In the same way a sale lures in the consumer, a price hike repulses the consumer.

The Circle Pad Pro for the 3DS is optional and will remain optional for 3DS games.
A memory card is not optional, especially if someone wants to capitalize on the benefits of buying in the digital rather than the retail market.

Ozgameshop isnt much better... $53 for Uncharted. Entirely possible the digital version could be cheaper then both. The Vita is a gimped PS3.
The Vita, after the REQUIRED memory card (only 4GB? lawl) and a game, costs DOUBLE the price of a PS3 Slim 120GB bundle.
True true but I generaly buy from them, cheapest place for games unless a retail store has a crazy sale going, Price will probably drop soon after its release.
It's not that it's overpriced. It's just that it's too much to ask for a handheld. Regardless of it's amazing specs. I think at least. An impulse buyer will be like "lol why get that tiny thing when I get can get a PS3 for cheaper"
Or something.

Smallest game doesn't cut it. If most DD-only games are going to 1GB then 4GB won't cut it. Let's not even talk about things such as PSOne or PSTwo classics, DLC, demos etc. You're limiting yourself if you buy a 4GB card. But your PS3 requires a multi hundred dollar HDTV, 55 dollar controllers, a bluetooth headset, an outlet so you can pay for electric bill too. So....I think by your logic you fail b/c the Vita you can use out of the box on its own and has more memory than the PS3 and cross game chat. The Vita is a gimped PS3.

The controller is included in the PS3 bundle.
I've been playing PS3 multiplayer since its launch without a bluetooth headset.
Both have electric bills. You will be playing electric bills while charging the Vita.
Cross game chat is useless. There's no point in talking to your friends if you're not playing the same game. It's too distracting.

People complaining about prices.I am on the EB games site right now,and the only game I see for 50 is Uncharted.Everything else is 40.Hell even some games for 30.
and then the games are even cheaper on the playstation store.
