I just wanted to know how is 360 cheaper than the PS3? I am not a fanboy or trying to persuade people to convert or whatever. I just generally want to know how is it cheaper. I am not talking about the arcade version of 360. That version is barely anything at all.

Let's break things down. For 300 dollars you can get a system and it comes with a headset and HD cables with a controller that needs batteries and does not take rechargeable batteries. If someone has wireless internet they need to buy an adaptor aat 100 dollars (maybe) the 360 can read flash drives butcannot copy things from flash drives, does not have an internet browser, has a weaker D-pad, has in game chat, you can play your own music in every game, everygame on the store has a demo.Achievements are in every game. It can stream from media server It has a good library of games in all genre's except platformers.

For 400 dollars you can get a system that comes with a chargable controller with the capability of playing blu ray movies.a headset costs 40 dollars and HD cables around 10 to 20 dollars. It has free online, and does not have cross game chat and every game in store does not have a demo. It has both wireless andwired setups. Controllers don't need batteries. Charge cables are10 dollars. It is backward compatible with PS1 games. It does have an internet browser, it can copy things from flash drives, itcanstream from media server. It cannot playcustom soundtrackfrom hardware and developer needs to add in the option to do so. Trophieshave been in most games startingin 09. It has a more suitable D-pad. You can use PC gamepads on the system. You can install another operating system if you wanted to, orupgrade the hard drive with out hassle for the most part. Game library is good except for a somewhat lack of RPG's which is improving. Other than the occassional yellow light of death or laser screw up, there isn't a need to buy a warranty that much, but you still could at50 to 100 dollars. It has functionality with it's handheldthe PSP.

PS3 400 +30+ 20+100(just in case)= 540

360 300+50(a year) +100(warranty preferable)+100(adaptor if needed) =550 depending on how many years yoiu buy Live, if you have the system for 3 more years than it will cost you 700.Once again how is 360 cheaper? I am not understanding people's logic. even if you deduct the adaptor the system still costs 600 in the long run. Isn't that the original price of the PS3?

The PS3 is newer and more advanced than the 360. Get over it.

Ask your mother how money works. You'll figure it out.

End of the day the PS3 is more expensive. I've got to buy a car to get into town, I've got to buy petrol, buy a PS3, buy a tv, buy a house to actually play it in, buy internet and then somehow I've got to find the money to buy over priced movies on the thing. Not to meantion video games! Nightmare, way to pricey.

It's cheaper because if all you want to do is play your games, you only need to shell out 200 bucks for a 360. Which is substantially cheaper than the cheapest PS3 SKU.

You want to add a TV to the mix, perhaps the couch, and the house while you're at it.

That's your logic in a nutshell.

This has been discussed many times... though opinions vary on this subject i find PS3 asa 'whole package' is the best value for money you can get when it comes to consoles...

Apparently when someone shares his opinion that PS3 is a better deal (price wise) than 360 he gets shut down by the many fanboys in here.. Seems like none of them in SW play online, so they dont pay for XBL.. None of them download DLC or XBL games, so they only need the Arcade model.. None of them use WIFI, so wired connection is enough.. None of them spend money on batteries / rechargeable batteries or battery units, the ones they got with the system never end.. also none of them consider the fact that PS3 offers so many multimedia functions and is a Blu-ray player, that doesnt count... however the same people were happy discussing that Twitter & Facebook will be available on 360, 2 things which were accessible since 2006 on PS3via webbrowser..:)

360 is cheaper compared to PS3, but unfortunately its Hardware Failure percentage/rate showed that too... still though i enjoy gaming on both consoles since bothhave great exclusives :)

Ps3 is too expensive to me, I mean, the average cost of a house in Toronto is $739,000 *credit: TREBnet Toronto Real Estate Board, then you need a big 1080p tv Sharp Aquos for $1999.99, you need a nice couch, so like $1799.97, and you need a car to get to the store for $39,558, and gas for $40, and the dancin' grannies work out tape to be able to lift it...man....

A ps3 costs like $884,109 with tax

But in all honesty, a ps3 costs more, it has more options, it's the premium system, you get what you pay for.

yawn xbox 360 elite = 249.99 ps3 =299.00 you can buy the top end 360 cheaper than the bottom end 360, and lol at 100 pounds insurance, MS will fix my box for free for 3 years bottom line if you want a console just to play games then get a 360, if you want an ass kicking multimedia games console, buy a ps3, on that note i have to say i don't agree with MS charging for LIVE anymore, they make 70 bucks on every SKU they sell, MS need to man-up and drop the LIVE fee, there's no excuse anymore, cos if i ever decide to get into online gaming, MS can kiss my **** goodbye

Idont recall PS3 only needing a TV & using electricity.. doesnt 360 need that too? Does 360 run on air?

My point was that you see all of those 360 fans jumping on someone who thinks PS3 is the best value for money you can get but then dont accept the extra costs 360 requires..

360 Fanboys - They boost how much better XBL is over PSN.. but when the added costs for Xbl are listed they get all defensive, so XBL costs do not count in PS3 price VS 360 Costs.. apparently they either get XBL for free or else heard from other 360 owners how good XBL is, cause there is no way in hell they know about XBL or play online unless they PAY extra.. at least i know i pay extra to play online on my 360..

Let alone the other stuff, 360 fanboys dont need HDD, still though they boost in forums about their XBL games, DLC downloads (GTA4, Fable2 etc as examples) were do they store these again? ohh yeah on air i believe..

WIFI is a luxury..

Blu-ray is a luxury

Web browser & other multimedia functions are a luxury

Better Hardware is a luxury apparently..

7.1 sound capabilities is a luxury..

All this for USD200 more compared to the Arcade model!!... damn right PS3 is a better deal over 360 :)

If you want it only to play games, except the online part of the games of course, then yea the 360 is cheaper. If you want a multi-purpose multimedia machine which can play games then the PS3 is cheaper.

first off how are you pepole buy elite's 249. Yeah right. Also "end of the day ps3 is more expinsive doesn't say crap, you have to prove it. Also I just finished I am not counting the arcade, since it is garbage. Also you are only looking at things in terms of short span. Ok fine since everyone wants to be an a** and not answer the post in the full explained manner. The 360 is cheaper in terms of short torm term, but what about the long term? So in oter words you people are ok with laying down 300 or even 200 playing one game on it and then selling. LAME EPIC FAIL FOR GAMING. Also the person who included xbox live price in their post only included it for 1 year. What a way to plan ahead. Screw this post. The world is pretty fickle these days. People not answeing crap or just stating basic prices and claiming that to be substantial enough. At least I actually came to the table and explained why I thought what I did.

Burnout Paradise. Halo 3 FF211 are all games that need hard drives to play them on 360, so you can't play every game. I am not asking your personal preference, anyway, you fail.

The PS3 minimum power usage is about the same as an XBOX 360 at its peak. So the PS3 is noticable more expensive over the long run.

yet again though games that u cant play online without an additional 50 dollars a year because of their main focus on mp other than a few. yes 360 is more cost effective for multiplat titles or the causal gamer but for the core gamer the ps3 would bve the better choice for the long run because not only do u get the multiplat games also but also superb first party titles that will always be the focus of sony. not so much MS. but still it all depends on personal preferences. play what u want or like thats my POV

The bottom line is which one is cheaper right from the shelf? The answer is? Xbox 360! WOO HOO you just won a million bucks.

Facts are facts the 360 is cheaper than the PS3. Whatever you feel is the best value for your money is totally different story and it is purely preference not fact. The bottom line is whatever you buy in this life will always cost more in the end then what you originally paid for it do to accesories, storage, and any other misc things to make that product work. Bottom line is what is cheaper from the shelfs, the 360.

You're not forced to play online... someone can pay $20 for a 3 month card and decide if they like it or not. What if someone doesn't have a good enough connection? Things like this comes into play.

first off how are you pepole buy elite's 249.

I like this quote from Legendaryscmt. This looks like proof to me. What did you even accomplish with your post gamenerd15? Anyways I the long term I have spent more on games than my friend who has a PS3. But thats a given due to the great many games out for the Xbox. Now if we add movies into the pile, he has spent more on new blu-ray movies than I have on new DVDs, but I am happy to say I have 3 times as many movies.

I walked out of a gamestop with a 360: Total came to $213.99
I walked out of a gamestop with a PS#: Total came to #427.99.

Now, can any tell me which one was more expensive?

TC was talking about which is cheaper wich refers to price!

Value for money is a different discussion!

how is 360 cheaper than PS3?gamenerd15
The 360 doesn't have Blu-Ray, no built in Wi-Fi, and the cheapest 360s don't have a HDD.

For the modernhardcore gamer (which means that it's LIKELY HE/SHE PLAYS ONLINE EVERY YEAR AND HAS A HARD DRIVE) who is choosing between an Xbox 360 a PS3, the PS3 is almost always going to cheaper option over time, primarily because of the cost of Xbox live every year ($30-$40 a year). Not only would it be the cheaper option, it you get a much higher bang for buck. It's even more evident if you're one of the people who HAS to use a wi-fi adapter (most xbox 360 owners don't though). It's more common for people (like me) to want to get a rechargeable battery kit for their controller. It only runs like $20, but it's still an additional cost. You have to be a complete idiot not to understand any of this, lol.

For the gamer who doesn't want to play to play online or doesn't want a hard drive, the Xbox arcade is definitely cheaper than a PS3. Still, even here the $400 PS3 is a much better value than the arcade because of what you get in it (wi-fi, bluetooth, blu-ray, best media extender out of all 3 cosnoles, rechargeable controller) regardless whether you use these features or not. Anyways, if you are looking for the cheapest console between both no matter how many features you don't, the barebone Xbox 360 will always be the cheaper version of any of the consoles (honestly who the hell gets the Arcade version? Just buy the fricken 60gig...)

So? You're relying on the word 'IF'

You can place all the conditions you want but the xbox 360 is cheaper than the PS3. If you and a friend walk into the store and you buy a 360 your friend buys a PS3, you will be paying less money. It doesnt matter what features, cables, onloine service you get in the box.

One 'games console' IS CHEAPER than the other 'games console'.

Do you understand?

What you're talking about is value for money which is a different discussion than which is cheaper!

Did you even read my entire post? Lol. Read my last concluding sentence. I don't understand why you're so desperate to argue that the Xbox Arcade is the cheapest out of any next-gen console. Who cares? I gaurantee that the sales for the arcade SKU is no where close to Xbox 360's pro SKU.

In addition, if I was to leave out the features of the PS3 (since you don't want to talk about value of the system to a person) then for a modern hardcore gamer who pays for online, the Xbox 360 would still end up being more expensive console for them over time.

Why are the cows so unable to do this simple arithmetic? It IS cheaper, there are no two ways about it. £250 (elite + 3 games + extra controller) is less than £300 (Ps3+1 game)

Actually, I'll hold my hand up, I only read the first paragraph. Why are you calling me desperate though, I'm just pointing out a fact to those who still insist the PS3 is somehow cheaper.

Keep in mind that it's different in the US compared to Europe.
