How would you feel if Xbox Live Gold raised it's price by another 10$?

I only have one account, and at least you can have multiple. I feel bad for Gold members with families man, I really do. You have to pay PER member! That's just crazy and expensive, if you have a family of four and they all like to play online that means you are spending a REDICULOUS amount of $$$ just to play over your own internet that you also pay for.

ShadowMoses900

If I had a family and they all played games I would probably beat them.

If you can't afford to pay for Live then you probably shouldn't being play video games anyways. It tends to be a pricey hobby.

finalstar2007

He pays for PS+, so don't bother.

I pay for it because it save so much as well as get a bunch of games for free or some may call it rent them which isnt bad since as soon as i beat a game and get all the trophies no need to go back not that i will ever stop being a Ps+ since i love it. you know how many free games i got from the service that saved me so much? over 40 or 50 by now and some of the games i wanted for long, this month alone they give you over 20 games for free! not sure what? actual good games i mean..check the Psblog! next week we'r getting the whole RE PS1 games for free as well as Re 4 HD and veronica HD 50% off. i try to invest smart ;).. not throw my money just for teh cross chat! i know what Live offers and that wasnt worth even $15

Easy to say Xbox Live offers nothing when you remain completely ignorant about it.

[QUOTE="Baxhand"]

The whole community aspect of Xbox live destroys the PS3. To say otherwise would be ??

The game invite system alone on the PS3 is a joke...Hey bro just call me on the Phone..OLD school baby...

Can't report anyone...

Can have multiple dummy accounts to be stupid.

Lack of Security ftw?

Features = Win?

Baxhand

I don't care about the "social" thing, I play games to have fun, not gossip about people. I just want to play online with friends, I don't care about another community.

Invites on PS3 are fine, you just go to friends name and press invite/join in the game. I don't see a problem....

You go to the players Gamertag or the message they sent you and you press the Triangle button and press report. You can also go on Sony website and fill out report aswell, but I agree that Xbox Live reporting is a littleeasier and more efficent.

Yes the hack was bad, and I hope it never happens to PSN or Xbox Live or anyone else for that matter. But I don't think Xbox Live is invincble, you should always take precautions with any information that you put online, regardless if it's been hacked or not. You never know....

I don't care about any of those features besides the faster updates. But you don't have to be a Gold member to get those now do you ;) Silver members get the SAME updates at the same speed just like Gold members do. Party chat and all that other stuff is just fluff IMO. Nothing there justifies the price.

They are asking me to pay so I can play over my OWN internet, they better offer me something good that I can't get anywhere else. But they don't IMO, I can do everything Live does on PC, I can do everything Live does on PSN besides party chat. Hell even GFWL is getting name change to xbox live, but guess what? Online MP on the PC xbox live (GFWL) is FREE! That's right, MS is giving free xbox live to one group and not you. You can't defend that.

Also why are you getting so upset about this, it's just video games man. No reason to get emotional....

Thank god for the fancy phone huh...How would we set up a game?

Hey bro..I'm not mad.

Just stop trying to down play amazing social features like they're nothing?

Xbox live wipes its arse with PSN and you know it.

Just saying?

I don't care about those features. So they are worthless to me.

But hey that's just my opinion and you clearly have yours, and that's fine.

You think Xbox Live wipes it's arse with Psn, That's cool.

But I don't "know it",what I do "know"is that there is no real reason for MS to charge you to play over your own internet and they all the little features are just fluff, and with the ads on the dashboard why would they need to charge you for something? The ads already pay MS, why do you pay them again? Why do they charge for stuff that is FREE everywhere else? It's just like bottled water IMO.

Answer me this, let's sayMS dropped the online fee and let Silver members play online without charge, permanently. And had Gold justreserved for all that extra features like party chat ect...You know, the fluff. Would you payfor it? Do you think anyone would pay forit? How many people do you think would cancel theirGold membership and just go to Silver in that case?

I bet alot would...

Need my digits....1995 style baaaabbbyyyy...

Baxhand

LOL! Did you just quote yourself! And try to act like it wasn't you?Like your supportingyourself in your own argumentbut pretending it's someone else?

WOW, JUST WOW!

I have no idea what to make of this....

I just hate when people avoid my posts..You know because I'm right.

Just a little bumpage.

Thank you for replying to the initial post though.

Err...I didn't ignore your post, I was just wondering why you would quote yourself. And there is no reason to "bump" anything. This thread is pretty "hot" so to speak, alot of posts.

If your talking about the phone thing, that is just absurd. You log on PSN and you go to your friends gamertag and you send him a message like "wanna play COD" and then he messages you back. There are NO cell phones involved. Who told you this?

I'm pretty sure he was just adding something (sarcasm) to his post, he probably doesn't know how to edit it or didn't want to edit it. I see nothing wrong with that, even if he was talking to himself.

I bet alot would...

I would pay for it. I'm 39 with a job?

Having the features is nice.

I spend more on a happy meal for my kid.....a month.

If you don't like the system. You don't have to pay it?

Why cry about it?Deny it's value to other people?

I don't understand that?

Yes I am an adult too and in College so I don't see your point?

You enjoy those features, I don't care about them.

You shouldn't feed you kid fast food, just saying....

I don't pay it, that's right. Hell in my economics class we were talking about rip offs in the market and xbox live was brought up because it is one. We had an ENTIRE lecture from a student who showed how you can force people into stuff once they already started (achievements, friends, saved data ect..) and make them pay for something that is free. Because they feel attached and put so much work and money into it they talk themselves into believing it and defending it.

I merely asked what people would do if the price of Gold membership jumped up 10$. No one here is crying about anything. At least not me. If you enjoy the features and find "value" in it, than that's all well and good. But don't get upset when someone challenges and doubts it's value, at no point did I ever say you can't enjoy or pay for xbox live, I was merely pointing out that I (and many others) don't see the "value" in paying for xbox live. We ask why pay for something that is FREE everywhere else, and just saying "it's miles better" isn't an answer. That's an opinion.

You think Xbox Live doesn't offer everything PSN, and PS+ does. The only difference between Live and PSN is that the online multiplayer is attached to XBL Gold whereas it's not with PS+. But to think that with PS+ you're actually getting way more content, and deals than you would with XBL Gold? Laughable.

Hey check this out guy..Don't ever mention my kid again. That's disrepect. You will understand when you have a kid. That would get you hurt in person. Just a heads up for future reference. Try it with someone in person. Walk into Mc Donalds and tell someone how to raise their kid. Watch what happens. Kids want things. Parents give rewards. Simple stuff.

lol I don't care I do it all the time. I do health studies at school and many parents are shocked and thank me after I do a study. I don't go into restraunts telling them what not to do, but you should watch Food Inc. Pretty good movie and you will never eat fast food again after watching that. And you wouldn't do anything, I bet you wouldn't even punch me lol

As for the "value", you pay for it good for you. I'm not downpaying anything, I think your overplaying it.

I guess I would pay another 10 bucks then. Why? Because I can. Paying for xbox live once a year is the least of my concerns.

I'm sure people would be fine with it, ads and a fee for online don't get any complaints so if it was 70 people would still pay.

People keeping using "just saying" as an aside tobasically being a douche to someone so they don't get moderated.

That and "I'm sorry but" are the most annoying repeated phrases in System Wars.

It reminds me of Cartman in that episode of South Park where they lampoon Glenn Beck.

Yes and we xbox360 players also have that. This week -33% rockstar pass, the whole Rockstar collection of games and dlc'sis also a cut off.

You should also remember that you can get those ps1 games for like 2$ in a store on the internet 1$.

Oh well... You will still say that the psn is better -,-.

If he was telling you how to raise your kid he would have said "Stop feeding your kid fast food", he merely gave a bit of advise like "You shouldn't smoke", that's not telling someone to quit or they'll die, it's just advise. I don't see the point in trying to defend what people do with their money after-all it's yours, the thread asked a hypothetical question for hypothetical answers that is all.

oh I wasn't aware of that.Still I don't care either way, if someone wants to yell at me I don't care. I don't mod anyone, ever. Unless it's something really serious like threatining to kill me or something, but even then I don't care because who would be afraid of some online person? lol.

If someone wants to curse me out they can feel free to do it, I will not mod you. If your afraid of getting modded just send me a angry PM. I don't care.

And that South Park episode was hilarious, Glenn Beck is an idiot. Along with the smerfs :P

We ask why pay for something that is FREE everywhere else, and just saying "it's miles better" isn't an answer. That's an opinion.

ShadowMoses900

Hey check this out guy..Don't ever mention my kid again. That's disrepect. You will understand when you have a kid. That would get you hurt in person. Just a heads up for future reference. Try it with someone in person. Walk into Mc Donalds and tell someone how to raise their kid. Watch what happens. Kids want things. Parents give rewards. Simple stuff.

Did you get fast food when you were a kid?

Now back on subject. I would pay it. Easy answer. You just tried to downplay it's worth. I defended my money?

lol I don't care I do it all the time.

Whatever. Try it with someone. Tell them how to raise their kid. Walk up to a person at any resturant and tell em' Hey don't feed you kids that it will kill them haven't you watched Food inc....I would love to see it. If it were me. God help ya. I would see red. You would see pain. That's just me though. You never step over that line. You're lying if you have ever told a stranger that. That is way out of line.

I'll bet 1,000,000 dollars you have ate a ton of fast food in your life. Everyone has.

Just because How people run smear campaigns on everything in america to cash in on money. Does not change the fact that people will buy it?

Not saying it's good for ya. Nothing is good for ya guy. Everything can be turned/skewed in a bad light. Everything kills you.. If there is bank to be made on it?

You know what really kills you ...TIME.

I made my point. Just stay away from getting personal with me. You have not earned that right?

Xbox LIVE wipes it's arse with PSN= Fact.

Only downfall isit costs 5 a month.

What? Wall-o-text.....really?

I would beat you down for telling me how to raise my kid. End of story.

Get back on subject. Kid. "Dirty Harry?"

Packing heat...LMAO...really?

Do you point the gun at parents when you tell them what to eat?

Baxhand

I was merely explaining to you since you enjoy beating people up that you should stop because what if the guy has a gun? Or a knife? Or some buddies? Not to mention you getting sued and going to prison. I was just trying to help you realise that you arn't chuck norris or anyone cool, and that taking swings at people often ends badly. You don't do that in real life man...

Lot's of people carry concealed handguns, you just take some classes and pass a test and they give it to you. Depending on what state you live in it can be harder than others, but it's not that hard as long as you have no criminal record or anger or mental issues (you clearly don't fit this bill), and have knowledge of your fire arm. I got mine in Utah because it's good in about 30 other states and even overrides some state jurisdictions like California (where I live btw) And I carry for safety purposes, the same reason you lock your car door or your house at night. You never know.

Honestly I'm not even going to bother with you anymore, you have derailed something about video games into making threats to people. You need help man, go find a DR or shrink that can sort your problems out. Most issues start with childhood and how people are raised, because if your serious about killing me over fast food then you need to get help.

Take a seat and watch the lems defend the price increase. :P

ShadowMoses900

Well what's funny is that in other countries outside the US they pay WAY more for Xbox Live and they don't get any of the features. Like I have a friend from Canada and she was telling me that where she lives xbox live costs 80$, and in England it costs around 100$. So that's what I'm trying to say, that other people do have to pay much more, but in these countries they don't get any of the features besides party chat.

I just read a few of the posts here. On the college student and the economics class, you make it sound like ripping people off is "OMG, stop doing it or you will go to hell". PSN+ was born from copying M$. From a business perspective, you will want to get as much money as possible, even if that means ripping people off (it cost you soooo little and you are getting soooo much). PSN had a free online service for playing, so they couldn't take that away easily from one day to the other and start charging for it. They were forced to offer something else and it all comes down to who's willing to pay for it as they obviously learned from M$. Things are only worth as much as you are willing to pay for them, but believe me, unless it's a socially responsible business, they will all try to rip you off. No one (including PSN+'s business model with "free games" or rented and the other features) will come to you saying "here, I thought of giving you ALL of this, and you can pay me just a few cents over what it cost me to produce it". You don't like XBL's service and wouldn't pay for it and that's fine . Nothing is free and Sony knows it: If they charge for online play, they would have to pay the price of losing a lot of their fan base. Would you pay if Sony started charging that or would you go to PC? SSDD.

How would you feel if Sony decided to charge for PSN next gen? Because I think the chances of that happening are much much greater than MS upping the cost of XBL.

Sure, one american dollar is worth less than both the canadian dollar and the british pound.....so they are paying even more.

ShadowMoses900

I don't buy PSN plus, and you are right about businesses making as much money as possible. But you make it sound that PSN not charging is a bad thing, take a look around. There is NO reason to charge for p2p online access to MP. None at all. PC doesn't charge for anything, xbox live on PC (used to be GFWL) doesn't charge for anything and it is the SAME exact thing as 360 xbox live, but it's FREE! Hell Nintendo doesn't charge for anything either.

MS is the ONLY one to charge for online MP access, and they have no real reason to do so. Except people buy it. PSN is free becasue Sony has no reason to charge for online MP, and most people know this. Except for xbox live price defenders. It also gives them a HUGE advantage over the comepetition by keeping it free.

And if Sony does charge for PSN in the future (they won't, I expect Xbox Live to be free next gen) I will just play my game either on PC or bite me tounge and pay the fee, because I wouldn't have a choice. I could do what I did with my xbox to play for free....err... never mind...

Lies!!!I'm from/and currently live in Canada.. Toronto, Ont to be a little more exact, and we do NOT pay $80 for an annual sub for XBL we pay $60! And I don't see this being any different in any other province.

OK, Shadowmoses900, you taken it little far. I will make overall analysis of all your posts today, honestly you have no idea of what you're talking about. Honestly, you done alot of bias talk in this thread for sure like saying XBL costs $100 a year. Firstly, thats 100% untrue and biased to say. $60 and 40GBP are both equal. In the UK, XBL is £35 so where did you find $100 from? Secondly, I do understand you're not a person who particularly dislikes all the features XBL offers, thats fine but something being free doesnt make the product better? It just makes the product/service better in price terms, not overal better. Also In my opinion, you shouldnt be making remarks of other people's kids and what they eat. People have a choice of what they want their sons to eat, have and they shouldn't be told advices from totally randomers like you. I mean, you're not Boxhand's cousin, friend or anyhow related? it's pretty rude to talk about it. Also will you answer this, If you saw a man smoking in real life, would you ever walk up to the man and tell him to stop smoking?

The delusion of cows. While you enjoy your free online play now, rest assured, next generation that PSN wil come with a pricetag. On topic, pay or not play.

The guy obviously has no clue what he is on about, he is being totally biased. You can obviously tell that he has never had xbox live. Xbox live in england is $55 and not $100.

That's what I was told from a friend. But different countries do pay more for xbox live and get less features, like the Netherlands.

I don't think you got my point and I honestly don't think you learned much on your economics class. When Sony realized that there was a market willing to shell out more money, they must have studied the market considering different possibilities, including "should we charge for online play?" the result of that study returned "we will lose more ground to M$ if we do, we'd be better off doing a plus service". They wanted to attract more people with the free online play, making them think they are better by doing so and many people have believed it. If they had charged, they would have risked not taking off with their online services. And as I can see, you believed it the way they wanted you to. If you asked me which service I would prefer, then I would choose free. But understand something from this post, there are many intangible things involved that you are not taking into account. Like you said, without the choice (whatever you did to your xbox included), you would pay the fee.
