So this is part of that amazing PS3 line-up I've heard so much about, huh? Not bad.

Because people like the game? I'm sure you would try and defend some ridiculous cons if Catherine scores a 4 because "the sheep are to sexy" or whatever con they probably come up with for the game.[QUOTE="shinrabanshou"]
The game has always looked rather awful... why are people vehemently defending it?

I personally don't care at all about scores and play and enjoy everything as long as the game itself isn't broken.
but question, do people really see this as a good game when compared to other games out there? I mean there is a plethora of jrpg's out there that are provide more depth, story, character development, and is just more satisfying as a whole. I mean can people here say that this game is better or just as good as persona 3 (if they do they are lying automatically cause persona 3 is the BEST lol) What makes people choose this game over others? was it the concept? Are you really fine with a okay game as long as it fullfills minimal requirements? Like I would always prefer valkyrie chronicles over this game, and wouldnt consider spending money on such a title. What compells people to get this over something better?
I can understand this same concept being directed at the many fps games that come out or whatever other genre. I guess also its a matter of enjoyment, and who am I to say what people can and cannot enjoy. Also this thread seems to have devolved into a jrpg's are good/bad thread instead of adressing the actual game lol
[QUOTE="Bigboi500"]And I'll wear it for you when you put on the dunce cap I make you for talking about games you're not familiar with. Again, I don't need to play the game to recognize that the characters are more sexualized than the Persona girls.Selective memory much? Does Rise Kujikawa luring watchers on the midnight channel by saying she was gonna "take it all off" ring a bell? Girl looks like she's about 15 years old and dancing seductively on a stripper pole. Did you also forget that maxing out their social links led to the girls staying all night with the hero? Underage girls actually having sex is "less sexualized" than crude jokes in Hyperdimension Neptunia?[QUOTE="Guppy507"]
You're completely missing the point, but whatever. I'll make you a tin foil hat some time.

Like the guy above said, try playing a game before you talk about it.
Instead, Neptunia's premise is a thin excuse for a role-playing game that revolves around hypersexualized young girls. Thus, key characters amount to little more than disturbing dolls wielding such weapons as a giant syringe. Characters like IF (short for Idea Factory) and Compa (Compile Heart) have their own look, but otherwise, they're almost completely devoid of personality, existing only as depressing stereotypes of vapid, sexy cuteness.Gamespot
Best review this year.

You're not really trying to put Persona 4 on the same level as this?
P4 had nothing like the loli fan service crap that this game seems to be full of. The Midnight Channel scenes were at least relevant to the story, and the most overtly sexualized scenes in the whole game (I can only think of the onsen and the swimsuit part) were tasteful in comparison to, say, this:
And I don't seem to remember any of them dressing like this all the time either

I haven't played Catherine yet, but if it scored abysmally on here, and the reviewer gave their opinion on why, I don't think it's justified to call the reviewer biased or uninformed simply because I disagree, as some people in here seem to feel inclined to do.As bad as the game seems to be there were some interesting concepts in the game that unfortunately didnt seem fully utilized (according to the review) :(. Mainly the System Wars theme, creating your own summons and creating combos. Disappointing. Expected a 5.0 from GS.

Thanks for saving me the trouble of posting this. :P There was nothing ecchi about Persona 3/4, while this game appears to have tons of it.
The Good: Building combos can be rewardingThe Bad: Characters are disturbingly sexualized caricatures of young girls , Visuals are choppy and poorly animated ,Music isso repetitive that it verges onpainful ,Story does little to build on promising premise , Random healing system is irritating and poorly executed.johny300
This istrue.
OMG GS rated a JRPG with a low score, how unexpected :| Anyway, I love it, gave it a user score of 8, will keep playing it until I got everything in it and while I agree that they might have a few bad points that are solid (like graphics I don't care that much), others are just opinion (healing system, I like that I don't have to spent AP to heal and that my characters can react on damage directly) or no real reason (c'mon, it isn't the first game with young characters and sex jokes)
another failed reviewer ....that one doesnt have "gamer instinct" or just telling a first sight of the game with bad intake

The System Wars game flopped MASSIVELY? :o :Pnintendoboy16Again, things can't flop when they don't have hype. :P
[QUOTE="rcignoni"]The only people I can see buying this are horny, loveless weeaboos.Skittles_McGeeFinally, somebody says what we all were thinking. I honestly think even those people can find far, FAR better options.
Please stop sending these kinds of games to North America. We don't want them. We don't need them. We shouldn't have them.

Part of me wants to say "pwned!"
but, honestly i'd wager that he knows review scores turn the heads of most system wars posters. Hence, he's trying to raise awarness for a game he cares about by giving the people what they want.
But maybe i'm being too optimistic :D

it is SW after all, and if oyu look at posting history. You'd understandI love all the vengeful JRPG fans saying that the reviewer hates said genre and is biased towards western games. Yeah, that's why she hosts weekly podcasts that include the subject a great number of times (Credit goes to Sonicare for the link). So, let's cut back on that vapid, knee-jerk "teh biaasssss!!1" reactions, hmm? :)

I'm not trying to say this game is amazing by any means. I would call it decent. I play any game and some times I get more enjoyment out of average games than I do out of amazing games. Why do I get this over other JRPGs? Because I already own and have played most the other JRPGs. I usually play all of them that come out. I would never recommend this game to anyone that isn't into JRPGs and even for someone that is I would probably recommend a lot of them before this one.
hmmm, pervy mindless unimaginative loli game mired in ancient gameplay ideas? looks like atop ten media crate placement is incomming.
another victory for j-dev!
not that the gameplay looked good but seriously i just can't understand how someone can find lollis * interesting* you can be a lonely pevert or whatever but come on lollis LOLLIS?????????
I think I rather people find lolis good looking than real life underage girls. :Pnot that the gameplay looked good but seriously i just can't understand how someone can find lollis * interesting* you can be a lonely pevert or whatever but come on lollis LOLLIS?????????

Another flipty flopper for the PS3  and to think I was actually thinking about buying this. Someone make fun of me NOW.

do you even know what a flop means and how a game flops? seriously lmao it didnt even get a hype thread to begin with so not a flop ;), and the only person that kept posting about this game was me lol.. anyways was expecting a 6 from GS but oh well GS never changes in terms or reviewing JRPGs, have the game and love it! check my unbxing if anyone curious :D Link 8)
It probably had more to do with the game just... Not being good than being a jrpg. They've given jrpgs good scores before. Besides, look at other reviews. The game isn't getting good scores any where.[QUOTE="Animal-Mother"]

You realize this game failed on a massive level when a woman who apparently likes JRPGS and podcasts about it for 1Up almost rips the game a new one. And yes GS is NOT biased towards JRPGS, Tales, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, Star Ocean. All well scoring games. Don't hate the reviewer now ;)Again, I don't need to play the game to recognize that the characters are more sexualized than the Persona girls.Selective memory much? Like the guy above said, try playing a game before you talk about it.
The midnight channel with Rise was relevant towards the plot and her character development. Rise is a pop idol, but she's afraid of being portrayed as a sex symbol instead of the real her; the midnight channel revealed this.
And by more sexualized, we're mostly talking about the character designs/outfits. The characters in Hyperdimension have revealing outfits and look like they're in elementary school, and they make a bunch of boob jokes. I'm avoiding this game because of the characters; I can't stand lolis. I find them disturbing.

Dude, it's a bad game. Maybe not a 3, but it's not very good at all. It's a game made purely for fan service. And I got sucked into it
