Every company is to blame, gaming is more of a business now and with business comes new ways of ripping off consumers. It didn't used to be this way but now it is.

Regarding that criticism of MS and charging for DLC, there is more to the story than what was written in Wikipedia (gee, what a surprise :roll: )

MS position is that it forces developers to charge for content so that it "levels the playing field". Obviously, a company like Epic can afford to release maps for free and considered it an advertising cost. Smaller developers usually cannot afford to give things away, as they are already working from much smaller budgets to begin with.

I don't agree with this practice, but I can at least understand where MS is coming from.

So, when a game is created and released, with no DLC, a few months after the game is released, the devs say, "Hey, heres a good idea to put into the game." They go and make that idea happen then add it to the DLC list, you don't think they deserve to be paid for the work they have done to bring that DLC to life?

They are not forcing you to buy it, so they are not ripping you off if you don't buy it. Last gen games came out, and after beating them that was it. Now they are releasing more more content to prolong the life of games. If it were b4 they would just release another version of the game, and you would have to buy the game again. Like Morrowind, and Persona 3 FES edition. DLC has been out for a while but they were caled "expansion packs", and they were on discs.

First of all, by your standard a 200$ PC should have an additionnal fee to connect to the internet which is aberant especially when Microsoft is the wealthiest cie of the 3. You are getting rip-off and you don't even care about it.

Secondly, the PS3 is more expensive because of the Blu-ray player costing alone more than 200$, so, in fact you are getting more with a PS3 which prove you wrong.

Plus, the Wii is having a worst online mode in comparaison with xbox live, but the same could be said for xbox live vs PC... which is totally free. Playing MMO Valve games online on PC are cheaper to play on PC than on xbox live, you can play CSS and TF2 with a 300$ PC.

Finally, microsoft have lost billions of $ with his xbox division and they still lose money because of their crappy hardware quality that lead the 360 to get a peak of 30% of their production getting RRoD. Which DLC is a need? I can play 100% of my games without any kind of payed DLC.
