I hate to break it to 720 fans, but..

If the Xbox 720 really was going to be the more powerful system, Microsoft would have JUMPED at the opportunity to quell PS4 hype by releasing the specs as soon as humanly possibru.  Dev kits are out for both systems, so it's not like internally no one knows what the specifications will be.

The very fact that you are waiting for a show in April to hear about the thing means there are more deals to be inked before they can show the thing off.  In other words, hardware is not how MS sees getting the victory next generation and they only stand to lose hype if they come out now with their specs.

All Sony gave us was what really matters to gamers.  We saw games, we saw the base-line specification for the machine and we saw the controller.  That's it.  The fact that MS can't even clue you in on what they are doing right now should be a big azz ! 

In fact, I shouldn't even need to say it.  We are all acting under the same assumption except the hand full of Lems who are posting bull-shots and praying that the rest of the forum plays along with the "believe syndrome" you have been afflicted with.  Hell, MS can't even feed you a teaser screenie of their games because they are worried about the impact it will have..

Console Wars are serious business!

Actually the fact is Microsoft does not care what Sony has done and vice versa. And if Microsoft was worried they would of release something as quickly as possible. So regardless of what a fanboy says in a forum it is business as usual at all the console companies.

Besides. Microsoft has to rent a place out to do the conference. They have to plan it out. Do the set-up. Get the demos ready. That does take time and effort you know. Only Nintendo are so tight in the ass that they will stand in a white room and mumble like a drunk aunt who overdosed. Sony and Microsoft acually has events. The day Sony or Microsoft has Joe Blow holing a camcorder while Kaz or Mattrick read off a projector is the day I go PC only.

I think the 720 is going to be useless, but in fairness, the OP is a bit nonsensical.

Just because Sony preempted MS's announcement, doesn't mean that MS should have fallen over themselves to get their announcement out the door ASAP.

Generating hype is quite important and big businesses know that. The PS4 had quite a large amount of hype in the run-up to the announcement and I think it paid off. If MS were to fire back within a week or two, they'd have blown their load too early and would have been yesterdays news in no time.

Building anticipation is a tactic, and even if the climax isn't "climatic", people will still be talking about it and thus drumming up hype, for free in a way.

No doubt MS will put on a ridiculous show to dazzle and entertain, just to mask how poor the actual console is going to be for the traditional core crowd. Like how they used to use an excessive amount of fancy spices hundreds of years ago, to cover up the taste of rotten meat.

This thread feels like preemptive damage control to me about the upcoming nextbox announcement. While it is true the Sony event was nothing special at all but there is no reason for the preemptive damage control threads. I guess the Sony diehards are worried about being last this coming gen also like how the PS3 was.

If one thing is for sure, MS is definitely freaked out by the announcement of 8g gddr5 ram. Even Epic, Dice and Crytek were caught by the surprise. Also Durango won't be cheaper, in fact it could very well be more expensive with the inclusion of Kinect 2 and god knows what other garbage multimedia device bundled along. It's purely a different marketing strategy depends on what you like, power or features. As a proud core gamer, I say power all the way!gpuking

I am a big PS fan, but I think that Microsoft is going to surprise a lot of people when they make their next gen announcement. I might be in the minority, but I think that the main reason that they have not been pushing out a lot of content in the past couple years is because their strategy has been to focus their efforts on the next gen console and the exclusive games they will have at/soon after launch. I can't think of any other reason why they have not been putting out more games lately.

Honestly the way people are talking it's like it's been E3 already and microsoft ain't shown nothing. it's the beginning of the year, did you read that right THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR. Sony has done it this way to build up the hype for E3, why would it matter whether microsoft showed all it's stuff now to to shut sony up, because sony have done it clever, they came out early showed just enough facts for people to get excited about. then will move on the hype train to E3 where will see the real power and games. if microsoft showed off now it just wouldn't help them and it doesn't make a difference if they wait. 

E3 is where it's at it always has been, so why are people so worked up about no information, are very misinformed people who don't know how the gaming events and conferences work.

I don't care much for the power, the quad being stronger is just a plus. I jumped out, because of their lack of good ip, and it doesn't help that they've pretty much stopped giving a damn about making games. After two gens of giving MS a chance, I say no more. I will be supporting two consoles, the king daddy of them all the Quad(PS4) and the wiiu.
