Don't we already know what the specs will be more or less? The rumours about the PS4 specs were spot on except it had 8GB of RAM instead of 4GB, though this change was a late decision as the dev kits had 4GB and not even Sony 1st party devs knew about the RAM upgrade. It's likely the 720 will have similar specs to what has been leaked. EA has said the next gen consoles are about 8-10 times more powerful than current gen. Considering this I expect them to be relatively similar in power unless MS has done something crazy like scrapped their original design and done a complete re do after the Sony press conference. This doesn't seem likely at all though because having a more powerful system has never translated into market success as the better the hardware the more the system will cost.

What is likely to happen is two things.
Microsoft will release half of their first party titles as Kinect games and the other half to core players. Meaning 3 or 4 a year a piece. But knowing Microsoft they will have some rule that states every game released for the Next Box has to have some kind of Kinect 2.0 functionality. Best guess is in a few years the Kinect will just be something with a small add-on that basically waste the devs time unless they go all out voice recognition like Mass Effect and Madden did in a way. (Be cool actually). It will end up the Dance / exercise machine for everyone else.
But for Microsofts sake those few core exclusives better be amazing......

If the Xbox 720 really was going to be the more powerful system, Microsoft would have JUMPED at the opportunity to quell PS4 hype by releasing the specs as soon as humanly possibru.  Dev kits are out for both systems, so it's not like internally no one knows what the specifications will be.

 

The very fact that you are waiting for a show in April to hear about the thing means there are more deals to be inked before they can show the thing off.  In other words, hardware is not how MS sees getting the victory next generation and they only stand to lose hype if they come out now with their specs.

 

All Sony gave us was what really matters to gamers.  We saw games, we saw the base-line specification for the machine and we saw the controller.  That's it.  The fact that MS can't even clue you in on what they are doing right now should be a big azz ! 

In fact, I shouldn't even need to say it.  We are all acting under the same assumption except the hand full of Lems who are posting bull-shots and praying that the rest of the forum plays along with the "believe syndrome" you have been afflicted with.  Hell, MS can't even feed you a teaser screenie of their games because they are worried about the impact it will have..

I don't understand how you can be a fan of a console that doesn't exist. Blindly sticking to a company no matter what they do is pretty stupid IMO. Just go for the system that benefits you best. No need to cry if the 720 isn't what you want it to be, just switch over to PS4 or PC. There are plenty of options available.
