What would be the point in owning the Xbox 720 if all they get are two exclusive games in the span of one year. Console exclusives give you a reason to buy console A over console B. If Dead Rising and Gears of War were on PS3 I'd have been hard pressed to have even thought of buying a 360.
I'm sick of 360 fans saying less is better just because it still sells. Thats not true at all. If every game just seeks to be a AAA title then many of these studios will be doomed to failure if they don't sell a certain amount. I don't care how well Gears 3 scores or sells, at the end of the day Microsoft is an extremely lazy gaming company who gets by doing absolutely nothing and that is not a good precedent to set for the gaming industry in bad economic times.
I've literally had too many games to play on the PS3 this year and regardless of what those games scored or sold I respect SCE's business model of pumping out 1st party titles in order to make their system appealing to consumers, its my choice of whether or not I want to buy Killzone 3 over Resistance 3 or Infamous 2 over LittleBigPlanet 2. I don't want them thinking that just because MS is lazy and not making first party titles that they should just make a Gran Turismo and Uncharted game every year, that would be incredibly boring for me as a gamer.
Im a fan of the 360 and I can honestly say that the PS3 has outdone it in the amount ofexclusive games this past couple of years, however for me personally the 360 has offered me the better exclusives as I feel Gears is the best TPS, Halo the best FPS and Forza the best driving game in the genres that I mainly play. I can admit that the PS3 has great game in Uncharted 2 and 3 looks to carry this on and I liked MGS4 and Infamous was good as well.

I'm not saying less is better and would never say that...what I am saying is it can be possible to have the best of both worlds for MS....I agree they need more core exclusives....but I am looking at this month and saying hmmm a great Kinect game and an awesome core game why can't that continue? They see that gears sells 3 mill in 7 days and gamers want that...I don't think it has to be one or the other
Everyone knows that the 360 does offer more games overall, but it also have been out a year longer than the ps3 as well. Taking exclusives into account, if you was to compare the 360 from 07 to the ps3 in 07, it will show that the ps3 have had more quality exclusives to come out than the 360. The 360 wins it in PC/360 multiplats, and games that came out for it in 06, that have sequels that are for both the ps3 and the 360 now.

So you liked the 360 before Kinect
I was actually considered a lem at one point. ;)This isn't hard to believe...
Microsoft was doing great at the beginning of this gen. Regardless of how crappy the 360 hardware was or how weird it was to pay for online. They had a ton of exclusive games, Dead Rising, Perfect Dark Zero, Banjo Kazooie N&B, Viva Pinata, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Halo 3,...that was in a span of about 2 years, they gave you a reason to want the 360.
Now not so much, and up to 2008 I'd never owned a Playstation system

Games that are on PS3 also, but not reviewed on PS3 at GS, which obviously shouldn't be used to claim 360 is better. PC/360 multis, which are not as plentiful as people think. I mean, I used to see Lemmings all the time downplay those when cows would say all the 360 "exclusives" were on PC anyway, because there's not THAT many. And finally, last-gen (ps2) multiplats from 2005-2007 that didn't make it on PS3 because it wasn't out, or the game was too far into dev already. Now these are games on 360 but not PS3, but their relevance at this point is really questionable, especially when many or most of them are sports games. Does it really matter that you can play Madden 07 on 360, when Madden 12 is out, AND if I just HAVE to have that Madden 07 feeling... I have it on PS2? I mean, the PC/360 games, sure, but 360 fans are really going to act like they have more games because of 2006 games that I played in 2006 too? Ok. I mean, technically... it's true. And then I go back to thinking that having more new games (exclusives and overall) released each year is more significant than having more 6 year old ps2 multiplats.[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]
i'm not detailing anything. it was just a flaw in his logic. system A has 0 exclusives but 20 games overall. system B has 5 exclusives but only 15 games overall. do you get to play more games with system B?

You're implying less is better. The 720 will undoubtedly fail if they try that approach and the Playstation 4 launches with something like LittleBigPlanet 3, Infamous 3, and Uncharted 4, successful franchises that were created this gen.
Gears 3 is apparently the last Gears game so all Microsoft is left with is Halo, Forza and Fable, racing sims don't exactly appeal to everyone and Fable is steadily going downhill in quality, which will no doubt effect sales.

Nice attempt at covering for GS.I'm not calling "hacks" yet. I'll wait for the later Q4 exclusives reviews to start flowing in before making my decision. If UC3 gets raving reviews everywhere, and pulls an 8.5 here, while Halo Anniversary gets 8.5 and 8.0 mostly everywhere, and pulls a 9.0 here, then I'm jumping on the "GS reviews are biased" bandwagon.

There've only been like 3 kinect exclusives this year (that GS reviewed, anyway). Only one of those was any good. By comparison, there's only been 1 retail move game this year. But 5 of the non-Move exclusives also supported Move (LBP2, KZ3, MLB11, R3, SOCOM4). So, exclusivewise, Sony is supporting Move MORE than MS is supporting Kinect, but they are doing it in a way that doesn't exclude the majority of their users, which is what MS does by making 16 of their last 17 exclusives be kinect-only games. Basically, 360 offered nothing this year. 42 A+ multiplats, vs 40 on PS3, and 1 A+ game for kinect owners, and 1 A+ game for non-kinect owners, versus 9 A+ games for non move owners, 5 of which can be played with move as well. Sony offered more quality exclusives and more support for motion gaming, and made deals to get more free content in many of the high-profile multiplats to boot.multiplats were dumpin on ps3's big timeexclusives all yr seriously multiplats is where the big games are consistently coming every yr

Sony offered more quality exclusives and more support for motion gaming, and made deals to get more free content in many of the high-profile multiplats to boot.A very valid point. Didn't know that. From looking at it like that, Sony have supported move in a much more effecient way than M$ have supported Kinect.:)[QUOTE="ermacness"]

I own a PS3 and am happy with it...but what does that have to do with playing to both casuals and core gamers?

multiplats were dumpin on ps3's big timeexclusives all yr seriously multiplats is where the big games are consistently coming every yr

Umm no...
"Portal 2" has been the only multiplatform game thats rivaled EVERY exclusive game this year including Gears 3
I LOL @ this. Seriously, FABLE??!!?!!!!!! Both Fables weren't anything to write home about. Fable 2 was very decent, but Fable 3 was a abysmal attempt. Lems bashes cows for liking resistance, but will cuddle their fable like it's a AAA blockbuster title.[QUOTE="ermacness"]

And you neither do you. Judging by how their stance NOW is, I've seen the interviews Microsoft does and they make it known that they believe their fans are content with Halo, Forza and Fable. Their words...

They have two of the most talented developers out there working on Kinect games..while Sony bought a developer that made two AAA games for the PS3
And then look at how much effort their putting in for Halo 4 and a Halo Remake and look how little effort they're putting in to make an Alan Wake sequel...
Read my reply carefully. I wasn't contesting your statemant, but moreso bashing Fable. Please Log In to post.
