Moron, let me highlight it even more for you, how does it imply every game ever made is exclusive.

It would make Resident Evil 5 exclusive as its only on 360/PS3/PC but not on Wii/DS/PSP see the flaw in that logic.....an Exclusive is one platform in terms of videogames. Not EXCLUSIVE to one company...but 1 SYSTEM.

You fail to see the meaning of the word exclusive its okay

its exclusive to 360/PC sure...but when debating all 4 big Systems......a game like Left 4 Dead isn't exclusive to anyone....how much more simple doe it have to be for you?

Left 4 Dead is a 360/PC exclusive, if it goes to PS3 it will be classed as mulitplat becaus its on a system thats not MSs, Like when Bioshock was 360/PC exclusive now its just a mulitplat. Let me highlight it again

2. Shutting out all others from a part or share: exclusive rights to film or game. (MS keeping games on their platforms, like Halo)

No it's not exclusive, but it's not gramatically wrong to say that it is exclusive to the PC and Xbox 360. Just like Sky say that a film is exclusive to Sky movies and Sky box office.

This only seems to be a PC/360 arguement. I don't think there is a PS3/PC exclusive game. I guess that's why this topic gets so many repeats.

[QUOTE="metalgear-solid"]No. I don't have a Xbox 360 anymore but I can still play most of it's games on my PC. So no, games on both the PC and Xbox 360 are not exclusive.blue_hazy_basic
lol all cows have uber PC's. In the other thread you were posting in its clear you know nothing AT ALL about PC gaming.

BHB, you just need to accept that every cow in SW owns a high-end gaming PC. Don't ever question it!

Except MS doesn't have any rights to Bioshock or L4D, thus making your argument fail.

Nah..Everyday Shooter is a PS3/PC exclusive game, so will Agency and DC Online be. And World of Goo, Sam and Max Episodes, Secret Files 2 or Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive are Wii/PC exclusive and so will Wallace and Groomit be. But no cow or sheep is claiming those as exclusives. It's just lemmings, who are bitter, because they bassicaly have no exclusives at all compared to other platform, so they are desperate to boost their bragging rights in any way possible.

I thought I settled this. :P Anytime we are talking about a PC/360 game which there are many then they are called:

PS3/Wii Excluded.

That's accurate, concise and does the job.

Recently Fable2, GeoW2 and Last Remnent say Hi :P But I know what you mean.

I think it all really stems from PS3 Vs 360 arguement where a PC/360 game can't be used in favour of the 360 because it isn't exclusive to it because (as we all know) Cows suddenly grow gaming PC's aroubd this time and say "I'd rather play that on my PC with a M&K...etc etc" Can't blame the younger lemmings for biting.

They have plenty to do with one another, they might not be able to play each others games discs, but you can play on xbox live together with certain games MS are giving the same service between each system and Games for Window even has achievements.

Why because you say so? sorry buddy it doesn't work like that.

Because it is a fact. There are dozens of companies that have parts that are required to play PC games. It isn't like Microsoft is the only company in the PC businesss. You don't even have to have Windows to play any windows games. You can go the UBUNTU/WINE route if you are really gungho and anti-microsoft. Microsoft does not own the PC platform. They do not manufacture the PC platform. They do not support the PC platform.

Agreed... and no, if it's on 360 and PC, it is not exclusive. It is multiplat... but unfortunately the word "multiplat" lacks nuance. After all, Mass Effect, while undoubtedly multiplat, is not multiplat in the same way Madden or COD4 are. Certain vocal minorities hate the term "console exclusive", and that's fine, but whatever jargon you choose to describe 360/PC games, be it "console exclusive", "limited multiplat", "not on PS3" or whatever, there is no doubt a distinction that deserves to be recognized when comparing libraries.

I was more elaborating on why the PC isn't a Microsoft platform. 'Console exclusive', though a term with some purpose, is an incredibly vacuous statement. By all ways venacular, they are multiplats.

The operating system does not take precedent, and isn't the only thing required. If you want to call it a Microsoft platform, you have to call it an Nvidia platform, and ATI platform, a Creative platform, etc. Oh, and 'games for windows' is a viral marketing campaign PAID FOR by Microsoft to advertise for Windows. Games for Windows games are not owned by Microsoft. Only games made or produced by MGS are owned by Microsoft. Oh, and again, you don't need Windows, "You can go the UBUNTU/WINE route if you're really gungho and anti-microsoft".

[QUOTE="dsmccracken"] Agreed... and no, if it's on 360 and PC, it is not exclusive. It is multiplat... but unfortunately the word "multiplat" lacks nuance. After all, Mass Effect, while undoubtedly multiplat, is not multiplat in the same way Madden or COD4 are. Certain vocal minorities hate the term "console exclusive", and that's fine, but whatever jargon you choose to describe 360/PC games, be it "console exclusive", "limited multiplat", "not on PS3" or whatever, there is no doubt a distinction that deserves to be recognized when comparing libraries.Vandalvideo
I was more elaborating on why the PC isn't a Microsoft platform. 'Console exclusive', though a term with some purpose, is an incredibly vacuous statement. By all ways venacular, they are multiplats.

I don't mind people who insist that they are multiplat as opposed to exclusive... that is only sensible. But in my experience, only two types of people object to the term "console exclusive" or some other term meaning essentially the same thing: cows and insecure hermits. Cows because they fear that including 360/PC games into the discussion will increase the disparity, and hermits because they (misguidely IMO) think that consolites who "ignore" the PC in their never-ending battle between Sony and MS are therefore somehow disrespecting or dismissing the PC. Regardless, the term has meaning to all consolites whether they admit it or not. You can call it vacuous, but that doesn't make it so. In other words, yes, they are multiplats, but that isn't the whole story, and insisting that it is is disingenuous.

We have an english language for a reason. You can't go any make up words as you see fit. They are multiplat. Multiplat qua multiplat. If you want to express another idea, express it with existing nomenclature. They are multiplats, but you cannot play them on other consoles. Its simple.

[QUOTE="dsmccracken"][QUOTE="Vandalvideo"] Because it is a fact. They do not support the PC platform. paul265

Look what this says http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/10910/Alan-Wake-Exclusive-for-Xbox-360-and-Windows-Vista/

Well, of course they would call it exclusive, you linked us to teamxbox! I mean, it's not like they have an agenda or anything!

I don't know about that. I'm sure there are other industries which are just as profitable. But again, my points stand.

I'm not entirely sure what your point is linking me to a general resource on Microsoft. Facts are the facts, The PC isn't Microsoft's platform.

Did I make it up? How did you even know the term then? Seems to me that term existed before I visited this site today. I don't see "multiplat" in the dictionary, yet oddly that doesn't seem to offend you.... weird, huh? Anyway, who says that words can't be made up? Words enter and exit the language all the time. Compare the Oxford dictionary now and 50 years ago. Good lord. What exactly is it about the phrase "limited multiplat" that offends you so?

The term 'console exclusive' is nothing more than a common phrase. It is not listed in any of the major encyclopedias or dictionaries. Just brought up Oxford English Dictionary, and nope, not there. You're using a phrase that isn't part of the english venacular. Besides, even the root words are contradictory. The facts of the matter is that it is on multiple platforms. It is a multiple platform game. There is nothing exclusive about it.

Multiplat is nothing more than an abridged version of multiple platform. There isn't anything wrong with abridging words.
