quite the opposite, really. Microsoft paid these people to use certain elements in their games (widescreen, supports Vista & 64-bit systems, able to use 360 controller, etc).

Could you provid me a link please? It's not that I don't believe you I just want some proof

A games for windows title isn't any really different than any other windows title, except it supports a couple things like 360 controller, ms doesn't really profit from it directly.

Let me start by saying that this is just public information and I'm putting 2 and 2 together but I highly doubt that Microsoft would post Games for Windows in there profit margin if it was not ment to earn money.

Microsoft posted a loss of $315 million for its Entertainment and Devices sector--which covers the Xbox unit, Microsoft Game Studios, Games for Windows, and Zune.

Games for windows... i'm guessing, Live? Wich is free for PC user?

I don't see why Microsoft is a winner in the gaming departement... it would be like saying I have a PS3 to play games and a PC to surf the net, so Microsoft wins?

I've read this like 4 times and I don't understand it.

Also, Alan Wake=Microsoft Game Studios

Just incase you were talking about Alan Wake not helping Microsoft no mater what you buy it for.

I have no idea how i'm helping microsoft gaming departement... unless they made the game or published the game.

As for my example, i'll repreat again...

If I have a PS3 to play my games on and I have a PC to I don't know go on gamespot forums... Mircosoft gaming departement wins? Because this is what you're telling me. Just because my OS is Microsoft, you're telling me it's profitable for Mircosoft gaming departement?

Well, no one agrees with me but I don't agree with anyone else either (since all I'm seeing is speclation with no evdince suggesting they're right). So lets agree to disagree. But to correct myself: Alan Wake is produced by Microsoft Game Studio so no matter what system you buy it for Microsoft wins.

No, I'm telling you that Microsoft makes a profit on games with the label of Games for Windows slaped on it. How? I believe since PC games have show a 20% incress in sales game publishers want that extra advertizment for there title. IDK, Call me crazy but I still don't see why MS would add Games for windows as a revenue string if it's not suppos to have revenue.

Okay, I didn't say microsoft published games that have GFW tags on them. I'm saying that I believe that Microsoft makes a profit from the games with that title on them. Sorta like how I believe that when a computer compeny (like Dell) makes a PC and adds Windows vista to it, I'm sure MS makes money from the maker. So, in short, I think that GFW is a Licences that some compenies chose to use.

As for PC compagnies (like Dell) using windows Os installed... that's a whole other ball game.

As for PC tagged game for windows, if Microsoft is not a partner in any way ... then it's just a marketing crap. Unless you have evidence they get money from it, there's really nothing we can discuss without facts.

Y'know the same goes for you too right? But, like I said a page ago I doubt that Microsoft would post profit magins for GFW if it doesn't make a profit for the Enteraiment Disvison of microsoft.... Link is provided if you take a look back and if it is marketing then wouldn't that mean MS is making money?

They make money on Games they published or made... theses games also have tags on box with GFW, so i'm guessing there only counting that. I have no evidence, nor do you, hence this disscusion is worthless.

features are here. while it doesn't mention them paying devs, this article says that they don't charge anything for the GFW brand, just some standards.

While MS isn't going to charge a fee to evaluate PC games or have any real kind of exclusion policy, they will be requiring certain features. Games for Windows games need to include:

# Games Explorer support

# Parental controls

# Compatibility with the Xbox 360 controller (where applicable)

# Widescreen support

# 64-bit processor support

# Multi-core and multi-threading support

# Media Center support (Premium and Ultimate Vista packages ship with Media Center)

Well exclusive = only available on one system whether, it's DS, PSP, Wii, PS3, 360 or PC. So if on PC and 360 it isn't an exclusive no matter what an fanboy says otherwise. Even if a certain game is available for DS and Wii only it isn't an exclusive, same for a PSP and PS3 only game.

That's argueable. Handheld games are too different from their console counterparts to consider them the same game.

I'm confused why is MS one of the richest companys in the world, they basically invented every operating system for the PC, didn't Bill Gates and pals invent binary the computer language. Sony fanboys need to make out they have the best games, its the only way they can. I vote YES there exclusive to 360 and PC.

And if games aren't considered PC/360 exclusive, they why are they annouced that way, Bethesda Fallout 3 downloadable content exclusive to 360/PC. Alan Wake available exclusively on xbox360 and Games for Windows, MS consider them exclusive so do I.

When did exclusive start meaning just one system.

The Definition of Exclusive

1. Limited to the object or objects designated :exclusive attention to business( only on 360 and PC)

2. Shutting out all others from a part or share: exclusive right to a film or game( Sony Fanboys aren't getting Gears)

Are games exclusive to 360 if on PC hell yeah.

And if games aren't considered PC/360 exclusive, they why are they annouced that way, Bethesda Fallout 3 downloadable content exclusive to 360/PC. Alan Wake available exclusively on xbox360 and Games for Windows, MS consider them exclusive so do I. paul265
No...MS doesn't consider it "exclusive", it considers it "exclusive to Xbox 360 and GFW". Not the same thing

it counts when your comparing PS3 directly to the 360 and it counts for overall library BUT IT IS NOT AN EXCLUSIVE TITLE

There is a need to describe games that are on one console but not the other and yes, using the word 'exclusive' in this description is going to upset PC owners who feel consoles are taking over and PS3 owners who want to play down the 360's library.

Moron, let me highlight it even more for you, how does it imply every game ever made is exclusive.

Upset... no. Just people seem to foget that PC and X360 are two distinct platforme or else they would share every game.

It would make Resident Evil 5 exclusive as its only on 360/PS3/PC but not on Wii/DS/PSP see the flaw in that logic.....an Exclusive is one platform in terms of videogames. Not EXCLUSIVE to one company...but 1 SYSTEM.

Simple... there is no game that would be released on every single possible device you can play games on. So you caan always say the game is exclusive. For example: Call of Duty 4 is exclusive to PC, PS3 and 360, since it's only on those three designated platforms. Heck even Tetris is exclusive, since it's not avaible on Amiga CD32. And really... you're making yourself look a troll by throwing around names like "moron", should somebody report you to mods or will you behave properly on your own?

No. I don't have a Xbox 360 anymore but I can still play most of it's games on my PC. So no, games on both the PC and Xbox 360 are not exclusive.
