If Mass Effect and Halo 3 go to PC would there be a reason to own a 360?

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="PS3_3DO"]Not very good to do that. Playing PC games on TV doesn't look right. Vandalvideo

What on earth are you talking about? I do it, looks perfectly fine.

Do you have your PC next to your big screen TV?

Why yes I do. Its a very small case as well, smaller than a gamecube.

You got one of those shuttle cases? :D

Uh... yeah. I have a PC, and I prefer to do all my gaming on a console. Plus Im not forking up more money for my PC to run games better. I get the same experience, except I get to use a game contoller and a big TV.

If you don't want to buy a high end PC that will end up costing you much more than a 360, which is alot of console owners, then 360 is a good choice.

No, I have an SSR case that was discontinued. Its super small. I had a picture of it but I cleaned out my photobucket. It was made by Worldnet Computers or something like that.

These threads fail, who gets a pc to play one or two year-old xbox 360 games? In the case of Halo 3, we are talking three years later. PC gaming and xbox 360 gaming is different, although sometimes games like Bioshock come out for both platforms. PC still has awesome games like Starcraft 2 & Crysis coming out as well.kevy619

Glad someone gets it. No Halo fanboy is waiting for Halo 3 to come to the PC in 2010.

[QUOTE="nmaharg"][QUOTE="SeanBond"][QUOTE="taikthebate"]

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="fighttothedeath"]ike to play sitting on my couch not infront of my computer which can't run those as good as my 360 anyways, so they PC versions are worthless to meSeanBond

Because you can't hook a PC up to a TV and play from teh couch.

It's physically impossible, just like you absolutely can not hook a controller up to a PC.

Honestly, if you're going to go through all the trouble of hooking up your PC to your TV, and using one of the 360 USB controllers for the computer, you're essentially playing a console. The only difference is that you traded a less expensive, easier to use console for a more expensive, more complex one.

Which one's better? That's a value judgement. As someone already pointed out, you buy a PS3/360 game, you know it'll work on your system. You buy a PC game, you can have conflicts (Vista incompatibilty, DX versions, graphics card, processor, etc.). This isn't to say that either one is a better way to play games, but some people like knowing that what they buy will always work on the system they have. Others like to tinker with their system and improve it, so that it will play the games they have better, and be able to potentially play games they haven't bought yet.

But really, even if the PC and 360 shared all games, there'd still be an argument for owning each one.

No there isn't the pc is better flat out. Looks better, plays better, controls better and is completely customizable. No reason to game on a console over a PC if all the games were the same.

*sighs* Really? So you're telling me that all gaming PCs run Bioshock better than the 360? You're telling me that all people who play videogames prefer kb/m to a controller (this is where the "controls better" comes from, I'm assuming?). You're telling me everyone who plays videogames would rather keep their PC streamlined and running quickly (weekly maintenance, defragging, deleting unused files, etc.) than just let their PC go to hell, and pop in a 360 disc?

Be serious. Just because you prefer it, doesn't mean everyone does. Some people don't have any interest in "customizing" their system; they just want to play games. As I said earlier, just because you have enough knowledge of computers, time, desire, etc.,doesn't mean everyone does.

No thats not what I am saying. I am saying with proper hardware these things are possible. And just because people are too lazy maintain there PCs doesn't mean it isn't better. And by controls I ment whatever you want. There are people using the Wii controller on the PC, although the thing is stupid and sucks.

And if you had a great gaming PC next to a 360 with the same exact games running, then yes most would choose the PC.

If people are too lazy to maintain their PCs, console gaming is probablybetter to them. I'm not saying the PC isn't superior when it comes to running games (obviously it will be until they update console tech as quickly as PC tech), but there are people who would still choose a console. I'm one of them. I probably won't be buying a PC game until Diablo III comes out, because there's nothing coming to the PC that I'm interested in enough to play it on the PC.

Hermits are an angry bunch. And no, if I could afford my 360, PS3, Wii, and my 42" 1080p Panasonic plasma, I can afford a gaming PC. I don't know why people are so obsessed with this topic. Different people like different things. There's no reason to get arrogant about the superiority of your hobbies.

Did I say that? No, I said there's "nothing that I'm interested in ENOUGH TO PLAY ON THE PC". I don't enjoy playing on my PC, so for me to do it, there'd have to be something I'm really interested in. There's plenty of great games available on the PC, I simply don't like playing on my computer. Diablo III would be an exception, since the original Diablo was one of my all-time favorite games when I was a kid.

Why does it seem all the arguments against the PC is a lack of knowledge or downloading little patches, which you have to do on the 360 too.

Saved by your semantics. That aside, why don't you enjoy playing games on the PC? TEH COUCH LAWL, I LIKE GAMEPADS LAWL, TEH HIGH REQUIREMENTS, etc? I mean, if its baseless preference I'm fine with that. I'm assuming you're going with "Its too much of a hassle". Suuuuuuuuuuure PCs are more of a hassle than consoles, BUT ONLY A NEGLIBLE AMMOUNT OF TIME. Most patches, drivers, etc are all fully automated now, and incompatibility issues are a thing of the past.

Probably a combination of many things. I've always been a Nintendo guy at heart, and the PC never had any Zelda or Metroid (or Mario, of course) games, so I didn't have a big reason to play games on the PC. I'm not a huge fan of FPS, so that didn't quite draw me in the same as many (although I did play Quake III and Unreal Tournament for a while), and I'm not a big fan of RTS games. Back in the day I was a huge fan of JRPGs and Final Fantasy in specific, so again, I was playing on the SNES and PS1. And nowadays, I'm just never really inclined to upgrade my PC, and I don't enjoy using the kb/m combo. It's more accurate and effective, yes, but I've never been a huge fan of it, even in my Quake III days. Basically the reason I don't play on my PC, is because I'm simply not as comfortable doing it. I have no problem with playing games on the PC, I just generally choose not to.

Besides, so far this gen, my favorites games have probably been Gears of War and Dead Rising, neither of which are currently on the PC. Metroid Prime 3 is amazing so far (the original being one of my favorite games ever), and obviously the Wii is a completely different animal anyway. So there you go.

So I was right, it was baseless preference. I mean, considering the PC can hook up to your HDTV, use a gamepad, and stream games from discs like consoles I fail to see how you're "less comfortable". Not to mention while the PC doesn't have Gears, Dead Rising, or Metroid Prim 3 (FPS WTF MATE?); It surely has games along those lines that are very similar.

Lately I've been contemplating whether or not I should buy a 360 and after listening to the recent Hotspot podcast I realised Mass effect is more than likely going to be ported to the PC as kotor was and Halo 1 and 2 are already on the Pc so there's really nothing stopping them from releasing halo 3 on the Pc too. And then I thought if all of the 360s big games (bioshock, Halo 3, Mass effect, Gears) end up going to the PC is there any point in owning a 360 or am I just better off buying a high end PC. I will probably end up getting the 360 because a good pc is expensive but do you guys think MS is making a wrong move by porting all of its big titles to another platform?MGS9150
if you have the cash you can buy a really powerfull monster its all depend of the monney you can spend but fo myself for not having to figure why it always crashing or having to install a new driver because its not work properly or being diconect of a online game for no apparent reason and nothavingthe bigger library andyou cant play on a standard tvhaving no controller to configure or having to install the game with a 300 digit or the best i seen is half life2 2 requiring broadband connection so if you dismiss allof whatmake the wonderfull world of pc gaming yes i supose you can buy a pc.

Have you played Metroid Prime? It doesn't share too much in common with most other FPS games (but then again, I'm assuming you're one of those people who argues for it being an FPS, so whatever). My computer doesn't have DVI-out, so I can't hook it up via HDMI (which is whyI have a PS3 and 360), and as I said already, I'm in no hurry to upgrade the components in my computer. I use my PC for things besides gaming, so it's not really a baseless preference. It's based around the fact that I see my PC as a tool, and I don't need it for gaming if I've got consoles for that. And again, I'm a huge fan of Japanese developers, who tend to spurn the PC. I don't see how my preferring a lot of Japanese games would count as baseless, either.

A 360 costs you $350. A high end PC costs upwards of $1200. I don't buy enough games so those numbers will ever catch up to each other. BTW, console gaming does have their advantages. TV (I know PC can do that, but need extra stuff for that), comfortable setting, easier gaming (no installation, troubleshooting, computer hanging issues, just insert and play). Whatever. I have a couple PC games, but I don't spend money on my computer for gaming.

In short, PC gaming is better. But consoles are cheaper, easier and can be played in your preferred setting.

Once again, baseless preference that has no bearing in fact. How you see your PC, I could care naught. There are tons of PC games coming to the PC like Kwonho, Dead or Alive Online, and many more. BTW, Ever heard of gypsie convertors? They have VGA ->HDMI convertors out there baddie. Or Vga -> Compenant. Pick your poison. As far as Metroid is concerned, its a FPA, which are very abundant on the PC.

Ummmm...I can afford it. I can afford any PC. I could buy a new one every month and throw out the old one....literally. It would have virtually no impact on my standard of living. Big deal.

Games are entertainment to me. I want drop dead easy. Plug in. Insert disk. Play. I don't care if it is 10% or 20% less graphics. I don't care if I could do this or that with a PC. I don't want a PC in my living room...plain and simple. The PC goes in my home office. I associate it with work. The office is the non-entertainment room. I don't want to download a driver...ever. I don't want to change a setting....ever. I am the height of lazy and indifferent to the but it only takes 2 mins argument. 2 mins is 2 mins I don't want to waste. I want convenience and I'll pay for convenience. It is ironic that some hermits bring up money. I can afford both a PC and a console. And I can afford to NOT use my PC for gaming. See how off-base you are with the money argument?

PC gaming died for me years ago. Maybe not for you. I don't care about you. I am not trying to convince you. If you want to game with a PC have a blast. I won't. And I represent 80%+ of the console market. That's why the console market exists. The PC gaming market hasn't died. It likely won't die. It won't die because of people like you.

What works for me...works for me. What works for you...works for you. Why pretend otherwise?

The essential argument is that nobody will buy a PC because of Halo 3 or ME. It will take too long before they are ported, if ever. Don't focus on the if ever, focus on the timeframe. Its too late by then...whenever then is. Therefore, this thread fails.

"A 360 is the equivalent of a low to mid end PC" Epic games A PC on par with consoles would cost 520-660 dollars, which could easily be negated thanks to cheaper games, not only that, but you can use the exact same gaming setup, theres no installation on Vista, troubleshooting is mostly automated, there are bugs on the 360 including hanging in Bioshock, etc.

yes.

i like splitscreen play that pc versions won't have.....

besides, i'd HATE to try to cram 4 people around my 19" monitor....:(

Vandalvideo

Because PCs can't be played on TVs. Jeese where are they crawling out from today?

sounds like fun..

i get to disconnect all lines into my tower.

lug the tower into the next room.

hope i have the connections i need to use my hdtv.

balance a k/b and mouse on my lap while reclining in my favorite gaming chair.

somehow find more connections on my tower for 3 more controllers so my friends can play...

oooooo...that just ooozes "fun"...

i have no idea where you crawled from, but you should crawl back in...;)

So in essence, you're too lazy to perform a 10 minute anaerobic excerise. ZOMG TEH HARD.

Ummmm...I can afford it. I can afford any PC. I could buy a new one every month and throw out the old one....literally. It would have virtually no impact on my standard of living. Big deal.

You've played warhaw, heavenly sword, R&C, infamous, uncharted, FFXIII, MGS4 and more on your 360?

Those were all reviewed AAA?

What about Warhawk, Resistance, Motorstorm, VF5? Oh right, sorry, I forgot that anything that doesn't get AAA isn't worth playing. Excuse me while I throw away MGS, MGS3, SMT: Digital Devil Saga, and some other "crappy" games.

...he simply specified AAA games, dont have a cow,no one said AA games were bad.

Do we need 800 of these threads on every expected huge AAA title that will continue to dwarf PS3 game sales. I guess so because they keep coming. I will only say that based on game sales, people seem to enjoy the ease of use of the 360 while they sit on the couch in front of their TV and play games.

Donate some money

I do thanks. Probably more than the vast majority of people here make in a year. Charity is a good thing and I believe in it. I happen to be in a very good financial position, so I can. But it isn't the money I donate that is most important...it's the time. That is far more valuable than just the money.

Cheers

I would pick up the 360 since I don't have enough money to change my specs every certain time, but still I would like to have a PC designed for gaming, I would be pretty happy playing Crysis or UT3 :)

Id get a console over a PC for FPS. I play SC with my PC and card games. 360 has one flaw. Broken. Get a 360 if your not afraid of mistakes and want to feel what it is to LIVE!

Xbox 360: Pop in and Play

PC: Verify system requirements, download patches for the game and video card, install the game and pray that it works, play with the video settings for an hour (minimum), and play until you hit a game crashing bug. Rinse and repeat.

Berserker_2

Xbox 360: Pop in disc, fiddle with HDTV settings for an hour(minimum), get RROD, call MS, wait for MS to send a "coffin", send 360 to MS, wait 3-4 weeks, get new 360.

PC: Put in disc, install for 2 minutes, play.

See? I can do it too.

My reason to own a 360 is to play 360 games......who would have thought about playing 360 games on a 360.
