If Sony EYE can do everything that Kinect does, why doesnt it do it?

I've heard alot of people who talk about Kinect and they say that the Eye can do everything that Kinect can do. The ability to turn on and turn off your console with a gesture and through voice would always be an nice addition. Why isnt Sony even commenting or attempting to do what Kinect does, it would also limit Kinects appeal because from everyone I have talked to that knows about Kinect they all are intrigued by using it to watch movies and to be the controller. Is it that Sony doesnt have the software that could do it, or is it that the SONY EYE simply cant do it because of hardware shortcomings. thats the reason, well what if Kinect is outselling it by 2-1 ratio and demographic and polls indicated that PS3 owners wanted the Eye to do the same as Kinect, could it be done?

It does core games though, who cares about the rest ?

Tom Clancy's Endwar has demonstrated that both systems can use voice commands with EYE or Kinect.

Because Sony have pumped their R&D money into Move most likely these techs do take money to develope.

Kinect is in its infancy and has a much greater upside tech wise than the Eye, I wouldnt rule out core gaming just yet, but if it appeals to casuals than guess what, thats what will keep selling Kinect.

Don't get confused. Kinetic is a PS2 title, not to be confused with the way original Kinect.

The xbox 360 is still in the lead and has been outselling the PS3 pretty much since the Slim was announced and with Reach and Kinect coming I think that lead will be at 5 million? 5 years later the 360 still outsell the PS3, and on the software side, well the 360 is also winning, and the online side, well xbox live is doing better than PSN Plus so your point is my point, thanks.

Kinect = 3D camera + voice recognition

PS Eye = 2D camera

Whether those differences are meaningful remains to be seen; but, clearly the PS Eye is not as capable as Kinect.

It is like DVD9 to BD. One is clearlymore capable/more advancedthan the other. However, whether the implementation leads to important differences in the real world is more debateable.

I dont think most gamers care about turning there console off with gestures or voice command. I will tell you why Move is far better, Software and a actual controller in your hand. The fact that Sony is making core games compatible(KZ3,Sly Collection ect.) is more appealing to Hardcore's like me. There is no practical need for voice controls on a video game console. I will admit, it is kind of cool but in no way makes your gaming experience more enjoyable.djsifer01

well again Kinect is in its infancy but im sure it will have some good core games, I am getting FOrza ultimate addition that will have Kinect functionality just for Kinect Functionality.

well if you wanna hide that no other official numbers can be had because VGchartz is saying that it has oldsold the PS3 by 800,000 since the release of the new slim then I guess you will have to wait until you see the 5 million lead yourself. Yes we know NPD that the PS3 has no chance, so be it, but facts are that the 360 is doing very well and Reach will be the biggest game of 2010 and Kinect will undoubtively outsell MOVE going by buzz and preordersdata, but just get back to me when the PS3 overtakes the 360, its the same thing I heard from ps3 fans in 2007 when they said that cross talk chat is coming within a year, still to this day, no cross talk chat. Actualy, that sale surge could die any month really. Look at the PS3 slim. It only lasted like 3 months. What makes you think the 360 S will be any different? the only thing we can go by is vgchartz and that has in fact shown that the 360 has outsold the PS3 by like 700,000 units since the release of the slim, but hide behind WW numbers all you want, the fact is that the 360 is leading the PS3 worldwide and will continue this whole gen.
