If we are including third party exclusives... it might be Sony. Its a close one tbh.

Metroid exists, ditto for what Zelda actually tries to do here and there. Fire Emblem has never been short on plot (holy fucking christ it's not), ditto for Xenoblade. Nintendo covers plenty of range, and when it gets down to the nitty gritty their games actually excel at the things exclusive to this medium. You can rarely say that about Sony.

Nintendo easily. So many new ip's as well mostly every year, so many hits.

You're confusing Nintendo with Call of Duty. In that sense, kids and twenty-somethings are exactly the same - they want people to think they're older than they actually are.

While I believe Nintendo to be a superior developer, their exclusives I've been playing for decades and have grown long past tired of. The only IPs I'm left interested in today are Pikmin and Metroid (also F-Zero, Wave Race, and 1080, but those are long dead and I've no hope at this point they are coming back). Nintendo is just not creating enough new IPS on a scale I find appealing fast enough. While they still make high quality software, they have become far too safe and conservative.

I choose Sony, because even though they do put out sequels to their games and milk them, I believe that in 10-20 years we'll probably see a lot more original content from them than we can ever hope to see from Nintendo, who will still be throwing out Marios and Zeldas with little gameplay tweaks to keep them "fresh" alongside "new IPs" that will continue to use ancient, stagnant aesthetics and assets from old properties for new gameplay concepts.....that is if Nintendo still exist at that point. Originality is what I value most in this hobby, and Nintendo fails to provide it.

I would sooner choose a less talented developer (but still a very capable one) over a much more talented one who refuses to expand beyond what they've been doing for so long. I don't care how talented Nintendo is. If they don't diversify their output with that talent, I am going to lose interest and go elsewhere, as I currently am.

They still have time to fix this, but not under this leadership....and time is quickly running out.

Easily Nintendo. They produce games at an extremely high quality at an extremely high rate. They also utilize the medium far better and showcase a much higher level of creativity than Sony.

Sony never reaches the heights that Nintendo does and they miss a hell of a lot more than they hit.

Sony all the way, as much as I love Nintendo and I feel there first party is top notch most of the games don't appeal to me, and Sony has such a vast variety of genres in there exclusive range, by the end of the gen your'll be flooded with exclusive games in all genres, I feel Sony's first party games appeal to the wider audience compared to Nintendo.

Bottom line is whatever way you slice it Nintendo exclusives beat SONY exclusives hands down when it comes to Critical reception, not bad for Franchises that have been around before SONY was out of nappies in the games industry.

This is why it isn't really a fair comparison for SONY, Nintendo have been in this game since the first gen, 8 generations to SONY's 4 and Nintendo has managed to keep hold of it's exclusive franchise whilst SONY has lost theres to the competition.

And when you look at Metacritic which title holds the number one spot?

Did you factor in that Nintendo exclusives generally score higher than both Microsoft and SONY excluisves.

We have yet to see SONY or Microsoft Topple Zelda OOT's dominance on Metacritic, The scores go in nintendo's favor as well.

I generally find that anyone who was gaming before SONY appeared in generation 5 will pick nintendo over SONY.

It's not even a black mark against SONY to be honest, Nintendo have been in gaming 4 generations longer than SONY, thats why i siad earlier that this comparison is not really fair on SONY simply because Nintendo has released Far more first party games in there history in gaming than SONY has.

Bottom line is SONY are babies in the indusrty compared to nintendo when it comes to gaming.

What Sony exclusives?

Okay...to be fair, Persona 5 looks great. But I wouldn't trade that for Nintendo's entire line-up, and I can't think of any other upcoming Sony-exclusive game that I'm interested in.

Damn Sony is getting destroyed.

As much as I love Naughty Dog games (about the only talent Sony has) I'd go with Nintendo because of Zelda and Mario Kart and Pokemon.

If you had said SONY games have a better Storyline then you might have been onto a winner because i would find that hard to argue with, Nintendo games are more fun and have better gameplay but SONY exclusives do have better storylines but i just let you carry on and give yourself enough rope to hang yourself with.

You want to talk about sales, let's talk about the sales of what actually matters in this equation, the games, since we are discussing the games- Nintendo exclusives outsell Sony exclusives so handily, it's not even funny. Hell, even with the pitiful install base of the Wii U, Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. 4 ended up selling more than any PlayStation 4 exclusive.

What good is that 18 million install base if it won't even buy games?
