IGN Review Haze 4.5

Very surprised at the score, I was convinced the devs. put a lot of work into this in the past few months; a shame it received the score it did.

There are some posters here comparing it to LAIR, which is reasonable in terms of the score; but I don't think Haze comes close in regards to 'hype'.

Thats what happens when you are too worried about bashing a game and not developing yours. Free Radical should be ashamed of themselves. From that review it seems like the visuals are ps2 or original xbox visuals which is unacceptable by todays standards on the consoles. I'll say it again but its pretty bad when a 2005 title in perfect dark zero looks better than a 2008 title in Haze.

the res. is like 580p

thats just too unexceptible....COD4 did it at 600p and that was fine because that was an actual good game (same with halo 3)

but to sacrifice everything that makes a fps stand out in an already crowded genre, and they still cant do HD res. thats just too much for me

The thing is that COD4 and Halo 3 have detailed textures and look like a next gen game. While those games aren't native 720p they still look like a next gen game. Haze looks like a last gen game. FR should have stuck with the Timesplitters series. Instead they tried to copy Halo blatantly and ruined any great ideas they originally had with Haze.

Gamespot usually rates lower than IGN. I think 6.5 is too generous.

cows were so hyped for this piece of crap just because it's from a well known devs who know how to make a great FPS, it's pretty weird that they failed, I think I'd blame Ubisoft, they're not that friendly with the PS3

Where do we place the blame for this one? Free Radical knows how to make a good game, so I don't feel right placing all the blame on them. Did Ubisoft rush them to get it out the door? Doubt it, seeing as they delayed the game one. Maybe the PS3 was just too difficult for them to develop for?Sooshy

anywho....wow thats a beating. ive always considered IGN to be a bit lenient. the demo didnt impress me but i wouldn't call it a 4.5. assuming 5 is average...i probably would have rated it 5.5 based on the demo.

anywho thats one review. itll be interesting to see how others rate it.

Haze can still come to the 360 ya know, and with these scores, Free Radical will probably bring it to the 360 because it's not going to sellon the PS3.

The game didnt fail on complete graphics alone, IGN said it was the controls and bland storyline, something they could have done better "without the cell".

If Infinity Ward could do it, so could Free Radical. It's not the machine, it's the devs.

Wow....I mean....wow. Where to start?

I remember seeing the first trailer for this game some time ago, and was pumped. Looked awesome. Then, the gameplay vids started to stream in. The instant I saw that clunky gunplay, I lost all interest. I knew this would happen. Yet, it was still one of the major titles in the PS3 library, being touted by both PS3 fans and its maker. Granted, we didn't see any 'ZOMG, best FPS game evar!!' posts, or 'AAA for sure!' ones either, but you get my meaning. I was expecting a 6.0 range score. It looks like it'll be even lower. Ladies and gentlemen, what we have here is another...

I find it hillarious that both Free Radical and Factor 5 are two developers that has an excellent track reckord and both their flagship games crashes and burns. Now I'm not blaming Sony or the PS3, I just find it to be a strange coincidence.

And yet again I learn to always trust my guts. I'm never wrong when it comes to games :P Haze looked bland from beginning.
