IGN is very contradiced regarding what it says about GT5, even its final comments were strange.
GS has been rubbish for some time now in reviewing the games, but i should admit, it's nice that they are taking the time to experience GT5 fully before giving out the review.
My first impression about FFXIII was 2/10, but after 100 hr of play, it's 7.5/10 .

IGN:Gt5 best racing sim...
IGN: Gt5 number 2 biggest dissapointment us smh gt5 you dissapointed us
Aboogie5
Way to take both the review and the list out of context. But that's the System Wars way.
does it matter it took 6 years or however long. If its the "best racing sim" according to them why would it be a dissapointment and that high roflBecause the list was made by IGNAUwhile the review was by IGNUS. Two different staff there.
And it should remain hidden. Haha.nice 1[QUOTE="Elann2008"]In before all the Alpha Protocol-hate. It's a hidden gem.heretrix
Somehow they missed Force Unleashed 2.. that game was terrible. 4 hours long, with poor fluidity from gameplay to storyline, and a bad story too, if there even was a story. Who makes a game with only 4 levels in it where the first and last levels are the same level!?
Nope, FU2 should be number 2 on that list.
Notice how its Nintendo free list ;)
Seems all the disappointments are on the ps3 and 360

Well, who expected anything from Nintendo this year? :S It sounds hard, but besides a few DKCR fans I saw no hype for anything for the Wii this year :S

Wasn't Metroid Other M a fairly large game that alot of people had issues with?

It could have been a great game...I am playing through it now and the potential the game had is what makes it so disappointing. Its unfortunate that the gameplay element of the game is so hampered by bugs, poor AI and bad development choices that it drags the game down. All that being said I still think the game was underrated by many reviewers.

they forgot about that one because it was on the wii (obviously)IGN is funny. GT5 will not be a disappointment for fans but for everyone else it may be a different story. I don't think they know how big the GT fanbase is. Everyone else might be in a minority...;)

There's hype threads for every major exclusive that came out. Goldeneye, Donkey Kong, Kirby and Metroid. SW went into a liltte tizzy when they all flopped with a AAE score with the exception of Goldeneye of  I suggest you open your eyes again because there has been plenty of hype threads for wii games :wink:Hard to be disappointed with low expectations.. :lol:He definitely asked for it.
Come to think of it though, I dont remember any serious blunders on Nintendos part this year. They did pretty damn good.
True, true. 8) I did ask for it :PAgreed. and +rep for having Old Boy in your sig! Amazing movie! The were spot on about Final Fantasy XIII.
Avian005
how many hours do you think they put into the game?I don't know why your guys say GT5 shouldn't be there... they probably played it by now, so they probably know what they are talking about.

Just like they were spot on with their score of the game.
I find it hilarious how an 8.9 game, and therefore "impressive" game by their standards, is apparently the biggest gaming disappointment.

Agreed. List is completely laughable if you factor in the reviews for their games. Without them however......maybe :?dissapointmen =/= bad
They could be good/great games but still be the biggest dissapointsments of the year. Since some games have a history of past instalments they expect them to improve on their formula. It also doesnt help their case when the developers promise so much and hype them through the roof. Number one is spot on
I was never into motion gaming. It good for family fun or parties but on my own I dont find it interesting.
FF13 should not have been on that list at all. its a fine polished game.HailCaesarHailim really glad people are liking FF13, i watched some videos and yes the quality looks really good, im just really sad how linear it is, might pick it up soon when its cheaper :)

You do know that the review for the game is written by oner person, not all of IGN. While this article is either written by one ore more people which means they can have different opinions.
FF13 should not have been on that list at all. its a fine polished game.HailCaesarHail
Its an insanely polished game. One of the best looking and most solid built games I have ever played. Unfortunately it had very little content (by FF standards), a complete nonsense story, annoying characters, forgettable "villains", extremely linear progression, and was completely monotonous. The battle system was ok, but not good enough to carry an entire game consisting of point a to point b level design. There was nothing along the way to break it up at all. No places to visit off the beaten path. No towns or cities to explore. No NPCs to interact with. No minigames. No exploration besides some fields in Ch.11. No real sidequests besides those hunts in Ch.11 which were mostly just previously encountered enemies with some stat changes and a possible reskin. The majority of the game was - run through these beautiful tubes for a few hours while killing everything in your path in a repetitive manner until you get to a cutscene, or a boss fight + cutscene. Rinse and repeat till the end of the game.
If you personally enjoyed the game then that is great. I enjoy plenty of games that many others dont like. But it is clearly understandable why this game was considered the biggest disappointment of the year by IGN and for that matter, many gamers as well. Its by far my biggest disappointment this gen.
A polished product is great, but all the production values in the world can only take a game so far.
FF13 should not have been on that list at all. its a fine polished game.HailCaesarHailThey aren't knocking it for not being polished. They are knocking it because it's a linear pseudo-RPG where you just spam the X button.

Well I think quite a few people found Other M disappointing. Even Nintendo on the sales end. :P
Still a fun game though.
[QUOTE="wdave92"]Gran Turismo 5 a disappointment? Color me shocked. The more you play Gran Turismo 5, it seems, the more you discover. I would hardly call it a disappointment.gaming25(hint) the reviewer on IGN probably didnt play that much of Gran Turismo 5.
And what are you going to say if the game gets an 8.5 (which is very likely) on GS?

Relax. This has more to do with the amount of time each reviewer had with the game. Doesnt matter what score GS will give it, the fact of the matter is that the reviewer for GS wouldve played a lot more of it than the reviewer for IGN did. Please Log In to post.
