I've noticed differences in size of RAM usage.

Maybe I used a bad comparison. Games using the same exact resolution textures will look worse on the 360 even when playing at 1280x720 on the PC.

It's like someone smeared Vaselineall over it.

On evga precision it tells me how much gpu video ram and system ram I am using.. Isn't that the ram footprint? :S

How exactly do you know that the PC version is using the same size texture? It's not something you can just eyeball. And there's no possible way you can know the RAM footprint.

Besides it's much more likely that lower quality texture filtering is causing your perceived bluriness.

There is a way to view the console texture size and RAM footprint.

But it involves something that is not quite legal so I will refrain from speaking of it here.

I meant the footprint of a single texture.

There are some games that are so demanding that current consoles could not run them at all. Crysis would be one of them, but another thing to consider is that its 3 yrs old now and ran on DirectX 9. Newer games like Metro 2033, Battlefield Bad Company 2, and DiRt 2 are capable of running DX 11 and look far better than console games. Another game to take a look at is Arma II which is very resource intensive.

sooo...games built for consoles...that are ported to pc dont look amazingly better then the console versions...ummm...[insert logic]...u cant make a game that will work on a console and make it use the same engine and use all of the same features for the most part and have it run on both...people just wont put the development time into it...most games are just straight ports with aa added and some higher resolutions or somethin...(this is all on a usually happens this way basis)...until crysis 2 comes out...i doubt this will change...especially since consoles dont get better and developers dont want to spend the money and time to make the pc version thaaat much better...compare exclusives if u want graphic comparision...usually pc version looks slightly better for multiplats..but exclusives really show the difference...and the only exception to this rule...metro 2033..max that and then play it on 360...u tell me which looks better...

It is VERY late/early for me at this time (6:30am with no sleep). I swear I just read that you said PC's are 2 gens behind consoles....

If this is true, you sir have created many lulz for anyone reading this thread. There is nothing on consoles that look anywhere as good as Crysis maxed out (even unmodded), and I am a huge Killzone fan.

There is no difference in quality if you capture the screenshot as a PNG file then convert it to JPG with photoshop keeping the quality at 10.

I compared pixel by pixel and there was absolutely no difference.

The file size is many times smaller too so I am sticking with JPG as there is no difference.

.....Unless you capture the screenshot using fraps set to jpg or saved the screenshot as a jpg using windows paint.

Stick with photoshop and you won't have this problem. Heck even GIMP should work.
