If Diablo III is also announced for consoles then every hermit on gamespot would riot. I'd expect to say the whole front page of system wars with threads revolving around their outrage.

It would be funny to see Hermits go crazy, we've seen sheep, cows and lemmings go crazy already but never hermits

it's a no brainer

publishers don't care about system wars and exclusives

they might not even understand that hermits will be angered by this .. all they'll say is that PC gamers still get to play it, so what's the big deal if console gamers can as well

akif22

Exactly. Its all money.

What will be funny are the hermits that will say that the game is bad if it goes to consoles.

This game isn't even going to come out within the timeframe of this console generation. Sheesh. Why the hell would you even want to play this on a console anyways? the system specs are so low that ANYONE with even a half decent computer in 2010/2011 (when this game is released) should be able to run it. If you're running an ancient rig by then well then, a 250-350 dollar investment really doesn't seem that bad does it? You pay far, far more for consoles + extra controllers.

If Unreal Tournament 3 was able to use the mouse and keyboard, why can't they do the same with Diablo 3 on the PS3? You won't have to dumb it down.peralta775

You don't even need a keyboard and mouse for this game... AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO REMEMBERS "DARK ALLIANCE"???

Dark Alliance was different from the real Baldur's Gate, and the combat was different from Diablo 2. Also, if they put it on consoles wouldn't it be seen as graphically outdated on consoles who are used to blistering HD graphics? It could be a negative point for people.

My point: Diablo III looks dated. Most games on consoles attempt to be graphically awesome. Consumers love graphically awesome games. Consumers see Diablo III and dismiss it. Blizzard loses, goes bankrupt and we never see Starcraft II.

Good work Xbox 360/Playstation 3.

Blizzard is extremely rich, they have WoW. Blizzard canned Starcraft Ghost because it wasn't good enough for them and then they disbanded their entire console development team. I think this shows that they put quality first.

If they made it for consoles, then I hope it would be a direct port of the PC version. I don't know how a gamepad would work with it very well though.

If anything that video supports my point even more. Controllers can't maintain the same precision and speed as a mouse when it comes to moving a cursor, and on top of that the control problem is compounded with the need to cycle between abilities in rapid succession as is displayed in Diablo 2.

All I have to say is...why?

If you own a computer, you can play Diablo 3 (unless your machine is ancient)and if you want to play it with a controller so badly, just hook your PS3/360 controller up to the computer.

You can bet that a majority of the gamers interested in Diablo 3 enough that they want a console port will eventually puchase it for the PC if it remains exclusive. Blizzard knows this.

I believe Blizzard just has an affection for PC, a degree of loyalty and doesn't like consoles that much. It will release some experimental titles eventually. Don't forget, Blizz started on the Snes but made it big on the PC. But Diablo 3 remains exclusive, sorry consoles, it's just the way it's meant to be. Also, wouldn't Blizzard be hurting itself? It's fanbase is on PC and making console ports would really shake their traditional fans. Blizzard has the most fanatic fanbase and any move will be calculated. What I expect Blizzard to do, is give it's PC fans Diablo 3 exclusive for a while and 1-2 years later their might be a console port.

I guess the changes of diablo making it's way to say the 360 are high then if that source is correct.

I personally couldn't care less what consoles it came on as long as the pc version is top notch.

It doesn't matter how fast you can point and click seeing as how your character moves quite slowly through the level. And how many abilities do you ever really use in a Diablo game? Like 5 at the most? Seeing as how you get new abilities that wipe out previous ones that you don't need anymore. It's very easy to set those abilities on your digital pad key and then press on say "x" to use it. It can be done very fast. Anyways I don't really care seeing as how my laptop will be able to play this game and I can hook it up to my HDTV. But I'd take the console version before the PC version if they made one.

I believe I said this in the other thread about this article...

This article is BS.

First, unnamed source at "Vivendi" saying that they would have a guarranteed 10 million from a console port? Well, the only port that is even remotely plausible is the 360 because it is the easiest to port to. PS3 is too much work and too many resources. Blizzard wouldn't devote their resources to rewriting their engine from scratch. So, that means Diablo 3 would sell to 50% of the 360's install base? I think not... Halo 3 couldn't even pull that off. Not just that but Diablo and Diablo 2 didn't break 10 million even when you COMBINE their sales. Does this supposed "Vivendi rep" know something that I don't that suggests Diablo 3 will be seeing a 100% increase in sales over its predecessors? And that that is assuming that PC version doesn't even sell a single copy. Because, assuming the PC version does sell, it will sell 5 million minimum, and judging by "360 guarranteed sales", I'd say probably 10 million on the PC as well... That is rather certain. So, combine the 360 and the PC and you have a 400% increase over the originals... 20 million copies sold huh?

Second, Blizzard would require Battle.net as an absolute requirement for a port to even be considered. That means that MS would need to soften its restrictions and actually allow that. And that is assuming Blizzard even wants to devote resources to porting the game, engine and online(Battle.net would need a complete rebuilt to work on the 360). Blizzard hasn't shown any signs that they are interested in taking that much time to port a game...

Everyone remember all the anonymous Crysis Devs contradicting official word and claiming a console port was likely? Crysis 1.5 anyone?

Unnamed sources are so reliable these days, though writing articles claiming to be quoting them will get you a lot of web hits.

I wouldn't mind a console port of Diablo 3 as long as they don't push the date back for the pc version, they don't make it ****ty and they make the console versions after the pc version so we see it first.

Exactly. Diablo 3 (just like Diablo 2) is a fast-paced action game that requires speed and precision to play. Analog stick are much slower and less accurate, meaning that you are basically solving a rubiks cube with your knuckles instead of your fingertips. Just because you CAN do something does not mean it is the best way to do, or even a fun way of doing it. I prefer solving a rubiks cube with my fingertips, not knuckles, thanks.

[QUOTE="blitzkid1"]Speaking under conditions of anonymity, a highly-placed source close to Vivendi has told VG247 that, despite comments from Blizzard to the contrary over the weekend, a newly-formed Activision-Blizzard may see a console version of Diablo III as a no-brainer.

"Blizzard will face immense pressure to produce a console version of Diablo III," we were told. "If Kotick says, 'We can sell 10 million units of a console version' - and he will, because they can - it's an obvious situation. Money talks. You could be looking at nearly half a billion dollars in revenue.

"That said [Blizzard is] in a unique position. Very few people have any sway over them at all."

Hack n slash games work very well on consoles. I don't see why they shouldn't do this. This game isn't even using any form of hardcore graphics either. Either way, I'm getting it. My laptop could play this easy anyways.

Its not a standard hack n slash. Theres too many hotkeys for a tardpad.

Fast-paced action game? This isn't DMC or NG. Diablo isn't fast-paced at all. And your analogy is horrible..

I'd say that since it's "Actiblizzion" now, that we probably see a console version, maybe 6 months or so after the release of the PC version, and it'll probably be subtitled.....Diablo III : (whatever)

I'd say that since it's "Actiblizzion" now, that we probably see a console version, maybe 6 months or so after the release of the PC version, and it'll probably be subtitled.....Diablo III : (whatever)MikeE21286

except that Activision is owned by Vivendi.

[QUOTE="Koalakommander"]Console players don't even know what Diabo is. And if they do, they know to get it on PC.xsubtownerx

That's the dumbest thing I've ever read on SW.

PandaBear86

Fast-paced action game? This isn't DMC or NG. Diablo isn't fast-paced at all. And your analogy is horrible..

No, you say its not fast paced because all you pay attention to is the isometric view and dismiss the rest.

Well the Majority of console gamers dont really know what diablo is..they have heard of it but never played it before, but if they have played it..they know that the only way to play this is with a KB/M, while Diablo 1 was on PS1 i never got to play it..but im sure it wasent the same as the PC version

Diablo is a fast paced action game but not like DMC and NG are..they both pack on alot of enemies at one time..but the gameplay is still different, in DMC, NG, and Diablo you need to fight many enemies at one time making thing hetic and fast paced...while DMC and NG is fast button mashing (not really button mashing but you get the point) Diablo is fast point and click and picking up items dropped, switching spells, targeting enemies etc..

and is analogy was spot on.. because you need to click on the little spell and item bar at the bottom in D3, it would be way innaccurate using Console Sticks (console sticks are the knuckles trying to use the rubiks cube).even for FPS games its hard to aim and get that headshot..but on PC its alot more easy due to mouse support..(the fingertips using the rubiks cube)

Um have you even played Diablo? They would have to completely change the gameplay for it to work with a gamepad. In fact it woks allot like a pc RTS and you know how well those turn out on consoles.

You basically described "Dark Alliance",

and you must have missed my earlier post:

It doesn't matter how fast you can point and click seeing as how your character moves quite slowly through the level. And how many abilities do you ever really use in a Diablo game? Like 5 at the most? Seeing as how you get new abilities that wipe out previous ones that you don't need anymore. It's very easy to set those abilities on your digital pad key and then press on say "x" to use it. It can be done very fast. Anyways I don't really care seeing as how my laptop will be able to play this game and I can hook it up to my HDTV. But I'd take the console version before the PC version if they made one.

Yes but how do you aim the skills? In Diablo targeting is very importent an not possible with an analog stick. Liek I said they would have to completely change the gameplay, all the skills would have to be passive or ur use some kind of auto aim.Its obviously possible but it wouldnt be Diablo.

I don't think it will come to consoles but if Blizzard could make even more money by creating a console version they would be foolish not to.

I discribed it in the sence of the general game play..picking up droped items, targeting enemies, switching spells.., but Diablo IMO is much faster than Dark alliance was...while there both the same Core gameplay DA is at a much slower pace than Diablo 1 and 2 were that i remember. D2 packed on MANY enemies at one time, while DA only had a few enemies on screen..

note: i dont really remember play Dark alliance much, but i remember a few things but nothing much of the game.

[QUOTE="blitzkid1"]

just posting info.

Danm_999

About something you care nothing about simply to get a rise out of other posters? Yeah, that's trolling.

What the hell? Have you forgotten about the hundreds of threads we get EVERYDAY! posting sales info about PS3 out selling 360/360 out selling PS3, (inset exclusive) is doing bad, (insert bad news) is happening or going to happen, and all the 'leaks' such as this about executive games going mutiplatform by people who just want to smite the over platforms? If those don't can't you're just trolling him.
