I had a feeling that he was wrong about the aggregate scores, but like I said, I wasn't really talking about reviews. On SW, Insomniac games are just not the kind of games that incite envy. Insomniac/=/Naughty Dog.

while I would argue that those games didn't deserve some of the scores they got(Resistance and ToD specifically) those aren't exactly "middle of the road" aggregate scores either.

I agree (they are pretty high aggregate scores), which is why I told Hahadouken that I don't care about averages, that it is simply my opinion that Insomniac's games are middle of the road. Their games on PS1 and the first few on PS3 had a apark for their time, but the Ratchet forumla has gotten stale, especially put up against Mario's recent offerings and the Resistance series is not a stand out in its genre at all.

agreed. Insomniac lost a little thunder with Ratchet. The series peaked at up your arsenal. they need a new platformer formula. Never was much of a fan of Resistance, and became even less of a fan when Killzone 2 came out. It was more entertaining for a FPS(boring single player aside, good mechanics and multiplayer)

BTW, I edited my post to say that they had a spark with the PS1 games and the first few on PS2.I mistakenly wrote PS3. The PS3 jump (or lack thereof) is what really made me start thinking them as middle or the road. I was actually kind of shocked that Ratchet: Tools of Destruction did absolutely nothing new. I was sure that they would move the series forward on new powerful hardware and ToD feeling like such a deja vu sort of experience was highly dissapointing. Yes, lots of games are rehashes, but such a shameless on new hardware was just disconcerting to me.

I agree that Killzone 2 did Resistance no favors as far as how it was perceived. In my mind, the only thing that Resistance has over Killzone 2 is the ability to play splitscreen, which is too rare these days.

Come to think of it, I haven't bought any of their games this gen ... but with that said I'd rather them continue to pump out exclusive titles because it gives me more reasons for owning all consoles. I do however understand why they would go multiplat.

EA, huh? That's almost as bad as hearing that Activision is publishing Bungie's next game.

I expect nothing great from either of these companies in the future due to the publishers. Additionally, I never really enjoyed either companies stuff before, so I guess nothing's changed.

because Microsoft and Sony guarnateed them great work because of their mad good publishing skills :?

They gave them freedom to do what they wanted, that means a lot. EA and Activision are not as giving as those two companies.
