Thinkpad X220. Altough it's more like 1000$ or more depending on configuration. Worth it though, because you're essentially getting both laptop and tablet in one device and both of those in forms that are suited for even the most demanding professional work. I love this series because it essentialy provides everything I need in one form factor. I'm a journalist and the ability to first type (which is insanely good on Thinkpads, nothing comes close to them in this area) and then just flip the screen, pull off the pen and start editing (somehow human brain sees more errors and more clearly when put into paper-like format) is pure magic.[QUOTE="AdrianWerner"]

There are options without tablet screen that go below 1000 though.

Well..to be honest, you don't need the latest and greatest :) X200 tablets go for like 500-700 dollars now in mint condition (often still in the box) and the price is likely to drop heavily when x220 go to the market.
