is 60fps really that big a deal?

I don't get why everyone is so big on 60FPS, I've had no issue with 30FPS shooters so far. Obviously when you start going under 30 and especially around 20 it gets really choppy, but at a solid 30 I haven't had any issues. Am I the only one who would rather they target 30FPS with better graphics? I understand the response isn't as quick, but you adjust to the slight difference quickly and can still generally play as well. *EDIT* Adding a poll
