Is GameSpot's scoring getting harsher?

THere are pently of games with in the last year that I have been completely surprised when GS hasb't given them a 8+. Its like they randomly decided to actually use 1-10 scale instead of earlier when it was more like a 5-10 scale with 5 being terribad 7.5 being average 9.5 was very good and 10 was perfect or very near too it. Anyone else feel this way?

I honestly think they're doing so to get more publicity. Most of their reviews are super controversial.

No, we're just going through a drought filled with deservedly low-scoring games.

Gamespot reviews are incosistent, not in the number, but the actual review themselves range from poor to decent.

I actually hated the Ghost Recon: Future soldier review. Not because I disagreed, but because it started off with a satire of war games that's about as witty as someone from one of these forums and the whole thing in general felt poorly written.

I don't think they're being harsher at all. I think they're now finally being fair after a few years of being way too generous for almost every game they reviewed.

Harsher in some aspects, big name games will always get good scores however, or low depending if it will bring in more hits.

Killzone is a dark and grity game with grat graphix. the better graphix mean the plauer can get emmeresed in the story. much better than kiddy shooter halo.

I don't look at GameSpot scores. I look at Metacritic and GameRankings.

They aren't getting harsher, they're just one of the few sites out there that doesn't inflate scores anymore. 8.5s and 9.0s seem to be average scores at most other sites, so it's good to see one actually fully use the scale.

I'm happy they are harsh. Forget about the system wars, how can you make a purchase based on an ign review for example.

Right but I feel Big Publish games are still going to get high scores or *the average score* while others games are going to get beaten down harsher, just feels like their gonna do what they always do except maybe drop a big games score by 0.5 then completly rip apart other games.

I'm still annoyed at 6.5 Gravity rush, easily 8.5 in my book maybe more.

The only thing that pisses me off about gamespot reviews is their contradictions, and how some games get a free pass while others get nit picked to death. One game will b lowered for lack or originality while a another game will get a free pass and a 9. Really makes you wonder about the integrity of this gaming site.joel_c17

What will upset me is if Black Ops II is mor eof the same and it doesn't get knocked big time after they knocked big points of recent games for not doing anything new.inb4uall
