Poll Is it arrogant to think of pc as the "proper" place for RPG's? (88 votes)
My friends, is it arrogant to think of the proper "place" for western RPG's? That, in order to be great, they should be primarily built or purely built with pc in mind?

If you were a PC? Yes. As a person, you're just a human with an opinion. And opinions only matter to the owner of them.
PC is proper place for not only RPG but FPS too.
when making RPG in console in mind, they suffer as a result we have seen bad games like mass effect, skyrim, fallout 3. same as FPS and see how they become. COD, battlefield. because they are build with console in mind
Torchlight 2, witcher (time PC exclusive) and now divinity orignal sin are best RPG in years. while hard reset and shadow warrior are best FPS in years
reason? PC build games
console are better for action adventure, fighting stuff like that genre. but not FPS or RPG.

I said in years mean 1-2 years.
its a decade old game
My friends, as soon as Dragon Age was announced for consoles, the response was "this will ruin the series".
Then, reality rewarded this viewpoint with vindication.

Dragon Age 2 built for consoles, hated. Bioware men hated. EA hated.

It did ruin the series - they released Dragon age dynasty warriors extreme 2 edition. God how awful that game was. There's no reason for that combat system besides putting it on consoles.

It appears you misread my chupacabra.
All genres can be enjoyed on consoles.
Except simulation and strategy games ....
But consoles are capable of handling most genres, and that includes RPGs.
No . I played both on consoles and PCs but RPGs , just like FPS are meant to be played on PC . Lot of people think the FPS and RPGs are successfully migrated to consoles but that's not true . All of them are dumbed down experiences . Look at any PC RPG and compare it with new RPG only available on consoles , it'll make console RPG look like Action game with few RPG elements .
There are few complicated RPGs on consoles like Demon Souls but such games aren't complete package (Some lack story , others lack complexity etc).

Save the fact the original was on consoles too and it's combat system was nothing to write home about. You need a better example. In truth, the only advantage the PC gains in this respect is in the MMO genera where you have tons of key binds and need them all very quickly, but that structure is very rare, even in PC exclusives.

Don't lie. You have no friends.
he knows it's so offensive being called friend by him so that's why he does it.
It's arrogant to think PC is superior, period.
Yeah because facts doesn't show it is in fact superior.

Western RPG's that shaped the genre tend to be more complex and nuanced, because they are built with a mouse and keyboard in mind. The most complex a western rpg on consoles has been is New Vegas (which is admittedly fantastic), and then a bunch of dumbed down games like Oblivion, Fallout 3, and the mass effect series.
So it's not arrogance, it's just flat out when you build around a mouse and keyboard, you can build a deeper game than anything you can make for a console. Gamepads by their design are meant for more accessible in comparison.
Just because western developers haven't put a good RPG on consoles in ages doesn't mean it can't be done.

and most moba and mmos ... that are not snail's pace like FFXIV is.
With the release of Divinity Original Sin, and the soon to be released Wasteland 2 and Pillars of Eternity...no, it's not arrogant at all. It's truth.
Irrelevant they haven't made a good RPG since the Planescape Torment, Baldur's Gate days excluding dungeon crawlers and maybe the Witcher.
I'm saying maybe the witcher because I don't create a character from scratch so I don't consider it 100% RPG.

But let's forget about Dark Souls
Skyrim is still one of the most played game on Steam.
So many mods, great community, and it feels right on a keyboard/mouse.

WTF are you talking about Dragon age started on PC, 360 and PS 3 so how in the hell could it ruin it if it always on it? Dragon age never moved to consoles because it was always on consoles and lets face it Dragon age was nothing to write home about it was dated even back than.

Dragon Age: Origins was built (and in development) for the pc for years. It was pc built.
Then, EA's marketing team told them to focus on consoles first and foremost, thus, Dragon Age 2.
Even from early trailers it was clear to see EA's marketing team was pandering, attempting to sell it off as something completely different, as opposed to a elfs and wizards neckbeard game.

Oh yeah, because opinions are totally facts.
is it opinion that it can run games at better resolutions? better fps? all eye candy on? that has mods? that you save a lot in games?
which games are better THAT'S subjective, which one runs them better, that's not.
I understand that mindset when you have a dedicated communities who strive to make games better on PC through various mods. This can especially be seen in WRPGs like Elder Scrolls.
Also what @jg4xchamp said about complexity due control input options.

This is an excellent and incredibly intelligent point from the forums most impressive user, objectively, pc's are better.
Hiroshima & Nagasaki ruined what JRPGs could have been.
I have never wanted to play as a toddler with oversized eyes, 300000 HP, and an ability to hit for 50k.
JRPGs are generally bubblegum shit.
WRPGs belong on PCs because JRPGs are for simple minded peasants that enjoy playing as children.
Most adults don't want your homoerotic, Kojima inspired drek; so you're welcome to claim it as exclusive, as though it's a point of pride.
The only ones that will care are the recent console refugees still not clear on the concept of an adult gaming platform.
