[QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="AD216"][QUOTE="Jandurin"] when one of these (a latecomer no less) decides to make system level DRM...

lmao the drm was already in place this gen, they just chose to exacerbate it. hopefully since it's "up to devs" allegedly, they choose not to implement it

um are you saying that there will be games that you won't have to check in with for the xb1?

look, that check in might be the dumbest thing i ever heard games wise but all we can do is hope they change that nonsense

Manticores lol I play games, not show off that I spend that much money on gaming and have no life.funsohng

I like the fact that my collection is filling out nicely over 25 plus years of collecting. It has NOTHING to do with price, because I would never sell my collection. The value is MUCH higher to me than its actual monetary value. I still have games I played almost 30 years ago... and I don't mean I reaquired them as the years went on... I mean that when I go play Asteroids or the original Mario or Battletaoads, THAT is the same cartridge I popped in all those years ago.

I feel that EVERYBODY should have a hobby. Gaming is expensive, but easily one of the least expensive hobbies you can get started into.

As far as having no life becaue you are proud of a collection (which anybody who loves their hobby should) no matter how big or small confounds me.

What is that based on? I have very little time for games these days, but I love getting online with my clan and playing a few games, or putting a coupl hours into an RPG/mmo. I also play games with my wife and children as often as possible.

I have been married to my beautiful wife for 8 years this new years eve, and I have two school age children. I also served my country with the USMC and fought in two combat deployments. I played highschool sports. I love to fish, hunt, go bowling, etc. I also occasionaly get back into collecting sports cards and memorabilia.

Do you have more of a life than me? Why should you care? Sounds more like jealousy towards others then anything else...

The way I see it is like this... Life is too short to give a flying rats ass what other people think, so just do your thing and live your life the way YOU want to.

If you want to spend your life working on curing cancer and finding a solution to world hunger, be my guest... however, if that is the way you feel why would you be "wasting your precious time" on an internet forum discussing such petty things?

That doesn't make your moral character any better than someone who would rather spend 90% of their free time playing games.

I hate people trying to convince themselves they are more important than someone else.... lol Your kind are the oneswho need to "get a life" and stop hiding behnd insecurities! ;)

Have a nice day sir.

I got a bit carried away, so if I placed you wrong I appologize.. however, there are plenty out there that could benefit from thinking outside the box a little and stop being so ignorant.

Your question got me thinking.Last gen started with me being a cow who then went onto get a gaming PC and finally a 360 but this gen I'll probably just have a PC and PS4 I guess,so what breed will we be when next gen consoles finally come out?T-Bone91
I already preordered a PS4, as I feel it represents my tastes in gaming best. I do plan on getting a WiiU, probably sometime next year. In the meantime, I am waiting for DDR4 support from AMD before doing a complete upgrade/overhaul on my gaming PC.

How so? I liked the PS2 and original Xbox equally. I prefered the games on the PS3 this generation over the games on 360, but I like the 360 UI and ease of access and online features more, while I still loved Nintendo exclusives which as alwys are in a league of their own. However, the Wii was my least favorite of the 3 overall even though a couple of the games were either at the top or damn near the top of my favorite games of the generation.

Nintendo and PC can provide MUCH different experiences than Playstation and Xbox.

SOME people prefer the best of ALL worlds.

Why the hell would I be bias when I grew up with all the consoles way before online gaming even existed?

One minute I would play Mario, then the next Sonic. As I got a little older I could play Goldeneye, MoH, Halo, Red Faction, Doom, Quake (just to name 1 genre)... etc. etc.

My top 10 in each genre list would easily vary from all consoles and makers over every generation. Explain that.

It doesn't have to be bias but you like one system over the other, even if the difference is 0.000001%. It's just not HUMANLY possible to like 2 things exactly the same, you can believe you do, but it's just not physically possible. Having all the consoles doesn't break the barrier of the human limit.

With all of the anti-gamer policies on this console as well as the TV TV TV TV Sports Sports Sports focus of the Xbone, can we judge anyone who considers themselves a gamer but not want to go anywhere near the XBone? Would your status as a Manticore be called into question only because a corporate entity outside of your influence happens to squirt out a machine that is, quite literally, a demon from Hell?

I'm curious, because in the specific case of the XBone, even long-time MS supporters are jumping ship on the thing. I can't even remember the last time a console was announced and you could still get a Day 1 preorder on the thing past a week. Even though Manticore status is the epitome of legends on SW, has that lofty goal just become completely unattainable outside the realm of logic and sound mind? Do our interests as gamers in a connected age with consumer rights and aspirations to be treated with dignity come first or does the relentless pursuit of games?

The mind does boggle.

Shewgenja

The original day 1 units sold out on day one. MS made more available, and stopped allowing more "standard" units. On Amazon.com right now, the Day 1 units are still available, but the standard is "out of stock".

[QUOTE="rjdofu"] wow...rjdofu

wow what? You have something to add?

Nothing really, I just find that response a bit extreme for someone who claimed "Life is too short to give a flying rats ass what other people think", that's all. I do agree with you mostly, however.

For the most part I don't care what other people think in relation to personal preference (opinion), nor do I believe others should. It is a strong belief of mine that it shouldn't matter however, when somebody bashes THAT opinion I tend to get a little bent out of shape which ironically is a bit hypocritical... lol

I should have taken more time to explain the line you quoted. I meant in RESPECT to personal opinions, and it comes accross like I don't care about personal opinions...

However, that doesn't necessarliy make me right. I was simply defending my stance in a civil debate that I took too far :P

I get carried away wih my writing at times. It is mostly helpful, while still holding the potential to prove I am only human ;)

Everyone has a snap moment once in awhile don't they? Like I said before lack of sleep and an abundance of coffee didn't help... :P

What other conclusion can be drawn? I pre-ordered my XB1 as soon as it went on sale. The next day, the "day 1" editions were sold out, and Amazon started selling "standard" versions. Then last Thursday, the "day 1" units became available again, and the "Standard" ones were out of stock; and that is how it still is today.

There's no such thing as a manticore, because the people that are qualified don't actually care to bring it up.

What more could they possibly do to cross that line in your mind, then? Would they have to kick you in the nuts at the register? Both the Xbox One and PS4 are anti-consumer devices. I'm not going to support either one.

They sell you things, but then they lock half of those items' functionality behind a paywall. Microsoft even goes as far as manipulating the market to eliminate competition for Gamestop and ensure that consumers don't get favorable prices.

[QUOTE="AD216"][QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="AD216"] nope, neither. im a gamer. ppl that show blind loyalty to a specific company r ridiculously stupid to me. every console will have something i desire in some way. what that is right now remains to be seen. i've literally owned every console sony, ms and nintendo has ever mad with the exception of the wii u which i plan on buying in the holiday 14 season. in my opinion, it should always be about the games, not the company.

um you can be a fan of one system over the other without blind loyalty

lmao no u cant, u can favor a system for whatever reason but being a fan of a system is completely different.

Yeah you can. I have a favorite sports team. I'm a fan. I don't blindly hate on other teams because their not my team of choice, though.

We call ppl without xbox's 'gamers'

campzor

Really? I call people with Xbox's gamers. I also call people with other systems gamers as well.
