I think Bioware, Blizzard, and valve all managed to redefine a specific genre. They all managed to set a new standard for RPGs,RTS, and MMOs. ND hasn't done anything like that.

Naughty Dog made Uncharted 1 & 2.
Bioware made Mass effect 1 & 2, Dragon Age origins, and the soon to be WOW killer Start wars: the Old R. MMO.
Naughty Dog is good but you need to compare them with developers in their own pracket. Bioware is in a totally different league. Sorry.
dang it I wish I could change my answer now.
I just releaized that Bioware, Blizzard, and Valve all have one thing in common.
They make games for PC.
AIAS = OSCAR LOL
AIAS its a interactive game its all that means they only award interactive games

I'm not sure if I understand what you're trying to say.
Conversely, I'm not sure if you understand what you're trying to say.
An AIAS Awards is an Academy award for interactive games...ergo, video games.
considering the legacy they have I'd say they are equal, anyone who objectifies has not played; (past) crash, jak, and uncharted.
samuraiguns
Lol I've played all crashes, 1 jak and both uncharteds, the day that ND makes a game that pushes ANY genre forward is the day they get to go with the legends, until then they are just a good dev.
[QUOTE="Espada12"][QUOTE="nhh18"]All their games are rated highly.

Uncharted 1- 89.64

Jak-90.29
Jak 2-88.01
Jak 3- 85.16
That is some startling numbers for an average team developer. All their games
Silenthps
True I did forget they didn't make alot of the games in their IPs but if you compare bioware
Dragon Age - 90%
Kotor - 94%
Neverwinter nights -89%
Baldur's gate - 92%
Baldur's gate: tales of the sword coast - 86%
Baldur's gate 2 - 94%
Baldur's gate: throne of bhaal - 88%
Mass effect - 91%
Mass effect 2 - 95%
Jade Empire -89%
MDK 2 -88%
MDK 2: Armageddon - 80%
Shattered steel - 72%.
Now you really think ND can hold a candle to this? Just look at how many different IPs even...
ugh, why even compare scores, even if their scores are even, bioware games are just on a whole other levelI know, I was just making a point.

Thank you. compare Console Devs with Console Devs. Its not Biowares fault if Naughty Dog wants to develop games for out of date consoles.
Don't stop believin', hold onto the feeling. Yep, I have the feeling and hope that someday ND will be the best devs ever. And trust me, it will happen.
Console Only gamers need to understand that the "pre-made boxes" they buy every 4 years is holding PC Gaming back. Until you have your own Gaming PC you do not have the right to compare it with out of date console games.

Elitism at its finest, seriously. I have a gaming PC so I think I fall into your 'category', besides visuals, there's nothing spectacular about pc games. Save for the RTS genre that is, which is not being held back by anything on consoles.
Could you Elaborate on this belief? Bioware already owned them. What else is there?[QUOTE="GiveMeSomething"]

Look, right now I know that ND are just 'good' devs. HOWEVER, u can see the passion they put into their work by playing that little game called UC2. It's commitment, hard work, and many other factors that ND has. They will keep releasing amazing quality titles, and who knows, they might dethrone a couple of 'godly' devs.

Just compare consoles with consoles.....In case you didn't notice, there's games like Uncharted 2(the subject in discussion), demon's souls, dragon age, and even mass effect, which are all playable on consoles. Fact is, there hasn't been much milestone games in the past few years which are only playable on PC, so I wonder how console games are "out of date".
ND makes good games but thats just about it. Bioware, Blizz and Valve are the elite becouse they influence the whole of gaming with their games. ND is a great series but its not something that will influence other devs. In that department even Epic and Gears is more influential and more worthy of the "Elitness" title since the cover mechanic popularised by Gears is everwhere now...actually scratch that Epic is Elite becouse of its support of the mod community.
just based on their work ethic and quality of the games they produce then yes :)
I still mourn the death of real crash bandicoot
This gen they have made 1 good franchise. ANd before that they had a sub-par AA franchise. So no.
Plus, they basically have unlimited funds to work with. Whereas Bioware, blizzard and valve were mostly independent when they were at their prime.
I can't believe so many people are willing to put Naughty on Bio or Blizzard's level. Both have numerous AAA and AA series. ND has one.
ND can get there in the future, but it's going to take years and multiple AAA's.

Right....now picture those games with mods....and a better interface.......with better control.......I think I've made my point.

You serious? Moral decisions, that was Bioware's epic contribution to the gaming world. Look at how Bethesda adopted it in Fallout 3. Before Bio popularized it, moral decisions were limited or non-existent.
What industry changing game did Bioware make Kotor and Mass Effect Changed nothing :?no because they haven't done anything industry-changing yet

Also, Baldur's Gate 2. IIRC it's listed as the 4th best pc game in history by IGN.

I've never played a Baldur's Gate game, that must be it, i guess its too late, the first two games are ten years old. I cant really comment on those. No way in hell. Bioware and Valve are elite for their innovations in storytelling, characters, and in Valve's case, the Source engine. Blizzard is elite for creating Starcraft and Warcraft 3, two of the most influential RTS's ever, and for revolutionizing the MMO genre with World of Warcraft. Not to mention Diablo and it's incredible loot system which developers still try to mimic today.
Naughty Dog's games don't bring anything new to the table. There's nothing special about Uncharted 2. It's a great game that lasts for a good few hours but when it's over it's done. The characters are cliche and so is the story. Valve, Blizzard and Bioware games stay with you for years and are incredibly re-playable, not to mention have incredible multiplayer played by millions (in Valve and Blizzard's case). Uncharted has none of these things. It's linear with one story path, and has good but not great multiplayer.
So Uncharted 2 is a very good game but it's not in the same league as these great developers. Not to mention it's only one game! Valve has Half Life, Half Life 2, Counter Strike, Team Fortress 2, and Portal. Blizzard has Starcraft, Diablo 1 and 2, Warcraft 3, World of Warcraft, and Starcraft 2. Bioware has Baldurs Gate 1 and 2, KOTOR, Neverwinter Nights, Jade Empire and Mass Effect 1 and 2. How can you say one game is in the same league as that?

Yes lets stop trying to make games a more meaningful experiance and go back to the good old days where after playing for hours your prize wasnt a developed story, customized character or any such useless crap...all you need is a balck screen with YOU WIN on it.
No, definitely not. For a couple reasons off the top of my head.
1.) Blizzard is practically it's own industry. Can't even TRY to compare.
2.) Bioware has a stronger recent history and overall history of product quality. They are a little formulaic though.
3.) Valve has a few key games that have amazing legs, and are much more iconic and representative of industry direction.
4.) The most powerful arguing point for Naughty Dog this generation is realy based off 1 excellently done game in UC2. Jak and Daxter aren't really the same tier of qaulity, at all. They are a poor man's franchise, and their latest iterations have been utterly mediocre. Uncharted 1 had that same generic feel. If you mention the name Crash Bandicoot near the word "elite" you are weakening your own argument. Also, note sales =/= elite. Make another couple UC2 this gen, and branch out a bit, then we'll talk.

moral decisions are useless in games it dosent changen anything in games you still have to do the same quest, go throgh the same level talk to the same people and at the and you might get a good or bad ending whats the point you are still playing the same game. I didnt say nothing about story, customiz your character Iam saying that MORAL DECISIONS are that most useless thing in gaming history just like achivments and throphysNo, definitely not. AlthoughI don't think Uncharted 1 was generic and I don't see Jak and Daxter as a poor man's franchise, I think your post is among the most convincing in this thread.
Valve is overrated as a dev. They're good, but not on the level of say Nintendo and Blizzard, possibly Bioware too. I don't think Naughty Dog is quite on their level yet, but the way they're going this gen, they're well on their way, seeing as how Uncharted 2 is among the top 10 most critically acclaimed games in history. I'd say Naughty Dog is on the same level as the likes of Bungie.

The entire MMO genre is exclusive to the PC. WoW and the like are not playable by consoles at all. The only console MMO that there really is is FFXI, and that was originally a PC game. Please Log In to post.
