Is online cheating such a bad thing?

Yeah. It's pretty bad. It ruins the experience for everyone else.

If they don't have a good time playing fairly, then either they find a game where they do have a good time playing fairly, or they shouldn't play at all.

i dont mind getting killed or losing a game. but i hate to get cheated. im sure im not alone

Say you go to a movie theater, and a group of kids find the movie boring, but you are quite enjoying it so the kids start to be disruptive and ruin your enjoyment of the movie so they can have a good time....how is that fair to you? Yes. Nearly every public server in CS 1.6 has at least 1 hacker in it at any given moment. It kills the fun of the game.

Cheating online isn't right, and shouldn't be allowed, and all cheaters should be banned for life from any online service when caught. How about I go to a museum, find myself bored, and decide to spray paint several priceless paintings. Then I can just say "man I was just trying to have some fun, sheesh, lighten up guys".

There is nothing that is stopping you from finding another seat during that movie and if the movie is packed I'm sure someone will say something to them or the kids will get kicked out by someone that works their.Sonwhy

Their is nothing stopping cheaters from finding another game to play, and if they don't, I'm sure someone will say something to them or they will get kicked out (banned) by someone who works for the service.

Yes they do, but most gamers have the basic maturity and common sense needed to not get enjoyment from games by ruining the game for other people. Seriously, you've managed to accomplish absolutely nothing in this thread so far except to reinforce and highlight the overtly negative image of cheaters.

Cheaters should be banned from PSN/XBLA whatever. Accounts banned/terminated and if its on PC CD keys as well. Not only this your game should be deactivated from online usage at all like how Blizzard does.

Cheating is stupid. That's why its called cheating. People like that shouldn't even have the right to play the game and yes the box's and instructions do say that as cheating is altering the game.

I have no sympthathy for anyone who seeks an unfair advantage or just can't handle losing. Quite frankly its why I detest baseball as of late.

I don't know about that. When I get online to play I don't play for other people I play for me and for me to have a good time whether other people do or don't is irrelevant. If someone does cheat I think they mainly do it as a way to get more enjoyment out of the game than what they currently are by playing fairly. And I definitely don't think online cheaters should be banned when playing fairly is completely unfair to such competition coming from bad matchmaking.Sonwhy

You sound like a cheater trying to justify it. There is no justification. Cheating = bad. This applies to any competition. Sports, games, beauty pageants, taxes, adultery, etc.

Well like I said most people do play for themselves even if it is at the expense of others. Take for example when other people are completely dominating do they ever show mercy just so the other group can possibly have a shot to have a little fun? No Sonwhy

If someone can't handle competition, then they shouldn't be playing online games. Period. People who excel at the games naturally should not need to hold back and dumb down their own play styIe for some whiny brat who is too insecure to deal with sucking at the game. These online games are completely optional, no one is forced to play them. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Some snot nosed little brat being beaten in an online game and not having the guts or will to get better at the game does not have a right to turn to cheating, because he does NOT have a right to win. Winning is fun, and the better player wins. Either people can deal with it, or stay offline.

Look if you suck at a game then you practice at it until you are good. You don't hack into the game and cheat and ruin EVERYONE'S experience. TC you need to mature a little before making these threads.
