THIS.... is the problem with society...

It's like having something stolen from you.... and someone says it's your fault for not locking it up.

Or I punch someone in the face and the judge blames the person I hit for not having his face out of the way of my fist.

I suppose its the devs fault that people download their games from the internet too, right?

Cheaters are losers that have no skill.

PSdual_wielder

The game has sold 10+ million copies and your telling me the devs can't make a patch with a better matchmaking system?

I think you're talking about COD4 here. In this case I can tell you that the devs aren't going to care about this game anymore, don't expect IW to make anymore patches, in fact don't expect activision to even allow them to do that. :P

Why not? Unless the reason is MW2

I don't know about that. When I get online to play I don't play for other people I play for me and for me to have a good time whether other people do or don't is irrelevant. If someone does cheat I think they mainly do it as a way to get more enjoyment out of the game than what they currently are by playing fairly. And I definitely don't think online cheaters should be banned when playing fairly is completely unfair to such competition coming from bad matchmaking.

WHAT???? that doesnt make ANY sense at all. cheating isnt bad because people who dont cheat and are just too good for you to kill are just as bad as cheaters....is that what im getting from your statement?

If you aren't playing to win, then why the hell are you playing a competitive game in the first place? Are you competing for second place? Does a boxer show up for a match with the intention of losing a close bout? Does a baseball team set it's goal as being the third or fourth place team in their division? NO. They play to win. If you aren't playing to win, then stick to playing games one on one with similarly skilled friends and stay out of the broader competitive pool, and stop whining because you aren't as good at the game. People are going to be better than you at a lot fo things in life, get used to it.

Here's a perfect example cheating. I am going to use the videogame NHL 09.

In NHL 09, EA came out with a online mode that embedded Be-A-Pro and the Online Team Play from NHL 08. The result was the EA Sports Hockey League which literally allowed NHL 09 to run away with the competition last year regarding sport games. Over the course of the game's lifespan, players began to find ways to shoot the puck in order to increase their goal scoring. To a degree they are simple dekes and dangle moves which throw off the AI of the goaltender. Of course that's what happens when a player dangles; yet there are specifics shot which have an 80% chance of going in. The players call these shots glitch goals and curve shots. Again these are simple exploits which are primitive compared to what cheating is being done in FPS games.

But there was one actual cheat that was far beyond primitive. It was the 99 Glitch. There were individuals who had the ability to max out each of their player's attributes to 99(making your player an 99 overall) which isn't possible(since the highest overall is within the 80s). By January 2009 about 95% of players had done this. Later on a patch came out preventing the 99 glitch, as well as being more critical with penalties.

In NHL 09 what prevents a cheater from scoring? A team that knows how to play real hockey. A solid defensive pair can keep the score low, and puck passing forwards find their team scoring more. You should see how crazy some division 1 teams are in the EASHL on the forecheck.

I don't know all the details involved with baseball but if someone else hits for another person I would assume the person that hit the ball gets the credit.Sonwhy

But you still didn't answer my question. Does the other player who can't hit a baseball to save his life, that this hypotetical roided out substitute hitter is hitting in place of, have any skill? Yes or no, please.

All cheaters should be banned. If they are not good enough to play without cheating then they really don't need to be playing anyways.

Exactly if you suck at the game TC and can't enjoy it without cheating then go play something else, becasue cheating just ruins everything for everyone else. Also if your team is being beat so badly that you almost can't move then don't cheat, just play smarter not just run and gun.

I think what matters is that most people playing have a good time and sometimes even when you play fair you don't get that.Sonwhy

If they don't have a good time playing fairly, then either they find a game where they do have a good time playing fairly, or they shouldn't play at all.

When you can't pick and choose your own game how far does that argument go especially when you get redirected back to the same game?

thats nobodys fault but the developers. how does that fall back to cheating?? because you cant keep up with people who probably have been playing longer than you? people who are actually good at the game? what youre saying doesnt make sense....and i think somewhere along the line youre trying to justify cheating just so you can be on level ground with someone who earned thier skill honestly

I think it's more accurate to say that you have fun while trying to win. Because at the start of every game, you fully intend to try to win, correct? If you aren't trying to win, you would just put down the controller and go make a sandwhich when the game starts. That you struggle and put up a fight shows that you are playing to win, as winning is the ultimate point of that struggle. Therefore, you do in fact, play to win. But unlike the OP, if and when you fall short, you don't have a hissy fit about it and turn to cheats to pretend you have skill and feel better about it.

Any kind of unfair advantage is completely wrong.

Isn't it an unfair advantage of the game to keep the same teams when one team is dominating and the other isn't when the next game rolls around even if the players are playing in groups?

if youre playing halo you can stay with the party you play with....if youre playing call fo duty make friends, start a party so you all can stay together....problem solved

If I'm not winning in an online game, I'm still kicking someone's ass out on the battlefield and helping my teammates out.

Even if you know you can't win during an online match, it's fun when you put up a hell of a good fight rather than completely lose morale and give up while they take over the battle with little resistance.

Okay first things first. What type of person, whos SN is bay area husla doesnt play to win? What type of "G" doesnt play to win? Second things come second. I have no idea whta you just said, but I'll counter with this. Glitching is cheating. If you can glitch and get into some super building where no one can shoot you, youre cheating. Glitchers can ruin games REALLY REALLY fast.

Say you go to a movie theater, and a group of kids find the movie boring, but you are quite enjoying it so the kids start to be disruptive and ruin your enjoyment of the movie so they can have a good time....how is that fair to you? Online cheating works the same way, its wrong and ruins others enjoyment of a game.

Exactly right. Honestly, OP... this is just common sense stuff here. Cheating online isn't right, and shouldn't be allowed, and all cheaters should be banned for life from any online service when caught. How about I go to a museum, find myself bored, and decide to spray paint several priceless paintings. Then I can just say "man I was just trying to have some fun, sheesh, lighten up guys".

There is nothing that is stopping you from finding another seat during that movie and if the movie is packed I'm sure someone will say something to them or the kids will get kicked out by someone that works their.

and thats how it goes with cheating. dont you see the logic. if youre in a game with cheaters and you dont like cheaters youll either leave the game or .......you knwo what, **** it. youre one of those type of people that just dont seem to understand whats wrong and right. cheating is bad no matter how you slice it. the only people that have fun is the cheater...noone else enjoys the game. noone likes to be cheated and if youre losing in a game simply because you cant keep up with the competition...you keep playing. its called practice which the majority of online players do to get to the skill theyre at to be able to beast you so well that you want to quit and go to another game. get some practice in, get better at the game WITHOUT cheating...and youll find the rewards more enjoyable.

[QUOTE="ViewtifulScott"]If you put up any struggle at all, you were trying to win. That means your goal was to win, which means you play to win. If your goal isn't to win, you wouldn't bother playing at all.

foxhound_fox

Hmm... I wonder why I play games then if mt goal isn't winning? Oh right... because they're fun.

Name me some games where the goal is not winning? Enlighten me.

As I've said before. Your fun is irrelevant. When you turn on a game and you start playing it the goal is to win. Unless well you enjoy just being stuck on Level 1 and have never beaten a game in your life before which I know isn't true.

[QUOTE="bayareahusla"]and i love to see all the glitches in the game im playing but i never take them out of the glich no kill rooms just another way to have fun and its even funner when you can out glitch the glitchers bronxxbombers
Glitchers can ruin games REALLY REALLY fast.

first off go to your only black friend and ask what a hustler is and second i even glitch for fun not to win like i said before its in a room where everyone is just trying to learn how to do those things

[QUOTE="bayareahusla"]i think the people that only play to win are worse then cheaters. pick your favorite care not the one thats the fastest. dont just throw grandes in a shooter come out and fight like the other team.ViewtifulScott

Most of the time I play games to win, but sometimes I will go into a game with absolutely no intention of winning and my only goal is to have fun and reek havoc on the other players and bring chaos the the match.

I'm not talking about the goal of the game, I'm talking about my goal for playing the game. Two completely separate concepts that you don't seem to understand the difference between. My fun is very relevant. If I wasn't having fun, I wouldn't be playing the game.

No, it didn't. You're just wrong and have yet to realize it.

And why do you go to rooms to learn how to do those things? *Gasp* so you can know how to use them in games to win.

So then its true what I've said. You've never completely a level in any video game. And again I ask what games are out there where the goal is not winning.

[QUOTE="siLVURcross"][QUOTE="Sonwhy"] I think most gamers don't game for others. Most game for themselves. Sonwhy
So that makes it okay to ruin their experience by cheating?

Well like I said most people do play for themselves even if it is at the expense of others. Take for example when other people are completely dominating do they ever show mercy just so the other group can possibly have a shot to have a little fun? No

now see thats different because theyre still playing within accordance of the game. if you cant win because youre off that night or youre just not good enough then you didnt lose because of some unfair advantage...you lost because the other person or team was just better at playing the game

I take it you don't play sports then and if you do then again I question why you play them. You compete against others in an attempt to win. That's why you play. Sure you can have fun and yes but the goals of all these games are to win.

Or as I've told Foxhound are you a person that has never completed a level in any game? Because if you've beaten even one level in any game you've played then you've experiencing playing to win. Which is the whole point beyond playing. List me games you play that the objective is not to win?
