laughing at the irony or TC being a mac user, and having a grudge towards PC gaming - is that an offense?

I think people here are too sensative.

And quite frankly if I wanted OSX so much, i'd dual boot it on my up comming Q6600. Same goes for Vista.
Mind you I have spent 2 years straight using OSX for graphic design purposes.

I was turning your post around on you. And Leopard does>>>Vista, so what do I care.

Are there as many people who use videos/photo editors as much as gamers?

Mizarus
They'll still need cards.

Thos cards are a hell of alot cheaper, you dont use gaming cards fot hat, you use the Quadro series in so forth.

Meu2k7

Of course, but they're still GPUs. That's my only point. If consoles are still selling, then consoles will need GPUs. In which case, companies will continue to produce GPUs. That said, PC gaming is never, ever going to die.

nvidia sell more gpu's for gamming then all 3 consoles combined sell their hardware

This man is correct and funny thing is that most of those GPU's right now are 8800 series cards. There are more 8800 series card owners out there than there are people who own current gen consoles.

I don't know how you would substantiate that claim.

PC gaming is the force that drives the technology forward in consoles. Without new advances in PC hardware there you would be stuck in the current gen for probably 10 years.

I seriously doubt that claim...

I spent $500 to upgrade my PC. I already had everything I needed except for a better processor which is now and Athlon 6400 3.2.... and 8800 GTS 320mb version video card. I can play crysis at medium settings and it still looks great. It will run at high mode at 1600 x 1200 but its to laggy to enjoy. But I have read about some tweaks here in there that will fix that.

Anyways $200 for the processor
$300 for 8800GTS 320 mb video card

all at newegg

macmutt

Yeah thats what i keep reading, which only proves my point even more, i just bought this and upgraded that, now i can play this...

You don't have to do any of that with a console, just pay a one time price and your done, then just sit back and collect whatever games you want until the next console is released and buy that time it'll still be cheaper then trying to keep up with PC technology.

Not to mention PC users being forced to play games on the now older XP platform instead of being able to enjoy Vista because of all it's defects.

so your xbox can run 360 games? you need to upgrade to a better console when they come out, the only difrence is that pc gamers can keep their rig for longer if they are willing to sacrifice the highest graphical settings, a video card like the 8800gt should max most games for atleast 3years before they start wearing out(not including crysis that game is on its own league and it cant be compared to most of the games on development right now)

also its not cheaper, i need 250$ to upgrade my pc so it can run crysis, now if i was going to buy a ps3/360 id spend more then that just for the console then theres also live and extra controller, more expensive games that dosent appeal to me etc.

Uh, yeah i already said pay a one time price for a console, "until the next console comes out" " 5 to 6 years later " as opposed to a PC's hardware that you have to upgrade like every 3 to 6 months.

Oh and by the way PC gaming could die tomorrow and it won't effect console gaming in the least, people will still need computers & graphic and sound cards for the home and working worlds especially the ones who work in the graphics, sign, photo and music and movie industry.

So please don't kid yourselves PC's were used to compute complex numbers and operations and programs long before games were played on them and they will be utilized for alot more after games are not played on them.

you judge me for not reading your post, yet you skip the part where i said high end video card will last 3years running games maxed out, and will last even more then that if you dont mind not playng on the highest settings.

2xx-3xx videocard upgrade is cheaper then 3xx to 6xx console

Why...? Explain where they would get there money from for research. They would have to wait for profits for the consoles, and we all know consoles sell at a lose for most of there life.

I know ten years to some people on this board seems like a short time spand (Possibly due to th 13-14 yo attach rate of system wars..) but I doubt the PS2 would still be the prime console for ten years even without Pc gaming driving the market.

Funny you have to 'go down a notch' and are forced to dual boot to run games.

At least we're not wasting money on p2p  and paying $10 (in other countries the difference is much more) more for each game. If you add it up, it equals to a few major ugrades within that gen 8)

Yep. That last 4 games I bought were actually $40. Crysis was actually $30, considering it was $40 and came with a $10 gift card at CC. I'm starting to see the trend that PC games are actually selling for even lower than $50 when they come out. CC usually has awesome deals. But console games still remain $60. Saves me a ton of money. Just like not having to pay for p2p online service. Ends up costing $250 for 5 years. I also don't have to but extra controllers, or any other accessories.

OSX doesent suck. Well it sucks it doesnt run games - in that regard. I have just as many problems with it as XP, so I dont go holding it to the highest regard though.

The design of Apple products is great.

But the cost of Mac products and computers sucks.

Ya' know you guy's keep talking about all the abilities of the various PC hardware out there, but how much of it is available out of the box

For the average affordable price range of $250 to $600 because thats the price range you can get a new console for.

Yeah if some people have the means they can go and blow anywhere from $1000 to $4000 bucks on a high end PC that will play anything or spend hundreds of dollars to try and upgrade their current one, but with consoles none of that is necessary like it is with PC's...it evetually becomes a persons choice if they want to upgrade to the next gen console or not, they don't have to, as long as certain consoles are still manufactured such as the PS2.

By the way this is not a PC vs MAC post this is a Console vs PC gaming post so lets leave that aspect out of it.

1. Your thread failed anyway.

2. A PC is a COMPUTER. You are getting cutting edge - top of the range hardware, that makes a consoles pale in comparison.

= You get what you pay for. A superiour system.

If you rather console titles, then why the hell bother arguing otherwise - your opinion is your own.

edit* and the price range can be anywhere form $600 > thankyouverymuch.

Upgrade the PC for every 3 to 4 months? Are you kidding me, my former PC lasted me 4-5 years. This one will last me as long if I want, though I have a job and money so I will go and buy me the new Nvidia card when that arrives.

Vista runs great, I have no problems with it and I start it up in just a few seconds, don´t know where you come from.

A Mac user, just jelaous are you that you can´t afford a real gaming PC? Oh yeah I have so much viruses and such ouch ouch ouch. Just maintain your PC and you don´t have any viruses. What is it with these computer noobs these days. Talk about lazy console players, just press the power on button. How hard is it to install a game on the PC, besides my games on the PC loads a hell lot faster than what it does on my Xbox 360 DVD drive.

Maybe you fail to understand there are fast harddisks out there with much faster access time than the DVD drive in the 360. Got damn these threads are fun, hilarious to read.

It's definitely true that PC gaming is more expensive than console gaming.

But when you upgrade your PC, you're upgrading your PC. Not just your gaming system. The RAM and the video card and the processorthat I have in my PC will also help with other functions.

Lol.

Translation: boohoo i cant afford a decent pc!

Sorry but the pc market has been revitalised in the last couple of years. No matter whati buy for my 360, the pc has kept me more occupied than anything else.

macmutt

Wrong dude, i would never own a PC, i own a nice spec MAC - 2ghz processor, 250gig HD, 128meg-video card, 2gig ram, running OS-X Leopard.

I would never buy a virus ridden, spyware popping, anti virus cluttering PC with the new Vista garbage that doesn't even work, and is currently getting the worst reviews and press out of any previous operating system via PC or MAC released, while Leopard is hitting record breaking sales and getting phenomenal reviews the world over.

Yeah you PC users have the bigger game libraries out of the two but just try getting them to work properly on Vista.

I thought the ultimate hilarious irony was when i was watching the feed on G4 a few weeks ago and they announced that the new windows O.S. Vista runs best on a Macbook Pro laptop...

Either way this arguement is ancient and no matter which computers people like better my whole point is, i don't use computers for gaming i use them for internet, i.m. chatting, email, photos, videos, music, work and i do all my gaming on a " GAME CONSOLE " because thats what they were made for, enough said.

not only that, but PCs arent even really ment to be for video games, just like having games on a cell phone. the PCs main feature isnt games, they arent meant for games. its dumb that you have to keep upgrading all this crap when you could just buy a convienient little package called a console.

LOL!, just lol.

You do know that Mac's are no more virus secure than a Windows PC, the thing is that Microsoft have something like 80% of the market share where as Apple have under 1%. It doesn't make sense for hackers to write viruses ect for an OS that hardly anybody uses. Windows is the biggest computer OS in the world therefor making it the biggest target, also i think if you do some research that Microsoft have a far better security record than Apple and Linux put together.

As for the stats of your Mac they are laughable, can you even play games maxed out with that???............

I'm sorry mate but your post was trash, Macs (for gaming) are trash, i'll take a Windows Vista gaming machine over a Mac (lol) any day. And by the way I've been able to play all the games i could on XP with Vista.

Your just a bitter, sad, jealous Microsoft hater.

Very noice setup I say, I say.

Customisation is my favourite part about pc's :D and it also happens to have the best games, graphics, online play etc. Too bad laptops cant be customised like that so i bought a mac.

Sorry but facts are facts and people just aren't excited anymore over PC gaming.macmutt
The Korean reaction to SC2 takes a huge dump over that statement.

Also, it happens that you listed absolutely no facts in that entire post. >_>

Got damn these threads are fun, hilarious to read.

karoliner72

Dude are you serious, i was trying to keep this a PC vs Console gaming post because i didn't want to embarrass you PC users, but i am 38 years old with 2 kids and i went to school at N.Y.I.T. for PC upgrades and repair of hardware and software, why do you think i hate PC's, because of all the frickin' maintenance they "REQUIRE".

So i switched years ago and so far i've converted 7 friends and family members over to Mac and they couldn't be happier and never once has their or my own Macs ever required any work of any kind, Windows is so far behind , they have to try and copy and get closer to Mac's OS with each release, but they always fail miserably.

So what the heck is so much better ? the upgrade features, well "you get what you pay for" isn't that what one of you guy's told me, so Apple lets you customize your Mac that your buying right on their site just like Dell or Alienware, you can get a terabyte harddrive, 4 gigs of ram, 320 video card, anything you want and more.

The difference is you'll get a operating system that never crashes , never gets viruses and is leaps and bounds ahead of windows, does windows come with voice command preinstalled, because Mac does and it works great i sit here and physically tell my Mac which program to open and close, which site to goto anything i want.

I never get any lag or freeze ups with software, i never get any B.S. pop ups of any kind from anti-virus updates or spyware junk, and zero pop ups going from site to site, infact the only thing you guy's have over Macs and i mean only thing is the larger game library which makes no difference to me since i prefer gaming on a console anyway.

This whole arguement reminds me of when i was recently standing online at my local mall outside the Apple store waiting for the OS-X Leopard to be released with 200 other customers and at least 50 people came up while we were standing there over the course of the 2 hours asking us what we were online for, and we just knew they were PC users, and when we told them, they just shook their heads and walked away because they just didn't get it, and us die hard Mac fans loved that they didn't get it...because we Mac users truly love our Macs.

Their not just our personal computers their a member of our family and PC fanboys will never understand that, and thats great.

Its funny how pc's weren't made for gaming and yet have the most AAAE's, most AAE's, best hardware, best online play, largest selection of controllers, racing wheels, keyboards and mice 8)

As opposed to sitting uncomfortably in front of a 14 to 20 inch monitior hunched over a keyboard and mouse waiting for the system to boot up, then waiting for the game to load, and then hoping you don't get any freeze ups or pop ups due to other software or hardware confliction.macmutt
I have the perfect solution for waiting for the system to load. Just keep it on at al times. And freezes are not very comon at all. And only the most ignorant fanboys think pc's cost thousands. You can get good ones for just a few hundred.

And your theory about it being dead can easily be proven wrong by games like Spore, WoW, FPS's and RTS's.

and your thread just got killed

People only say its dying cause they don't pc game or don't know how to build a pc. Jus cause no one talk about it here doesn't means its dead.

Oh ok, so lets talk about world of warcraft, i like warcraft, i even have Warcraft 3 reighn of chaos and the expansion the frozen throne for my Mac,but World of Warcraft has such outdated graphics it looks like an old PS2 game, i actually made the mistake of signing up for WoW and once i saw the graphics i gave the game to my PC loving brother in law membership and all the very next day because he was used to those obsolete graphics on his 2 year old junky dell.
