Lol.

Translation: boohoo i cant afford a decent pc!

Sorry but the pc market has been revitalised in the last couple of years. No matter whati buy for my 360, the pc has kept me more occupied than anything else.

macmutt

I would never buy a virus ridden, spyware popping, anti virus cluttering PC with the new Vista garbage that doesn't even work, and is currently getting the worst reviews and press out of any previous operating system via PC or MAC released, while Leopard is hitting record breaking sales and getting phenomenal reviews the world over.

First, Macs are not more secure.

And second, you said Leopard is getting record breaking sales? Listen, it may be breaking Mac records, but it still only has what, 6% of the market?

TC is such a hypocrite. He upgraded his OS and goes on to say that consoles are better because you dont need to upgrade.

Actually Macs are more secure which is why even the U.S. military is making the transisition over to Apple computers, and yes Leopard is outselling Windows Vista 2 to 1.

Oh and as for your 6% of the market share garbage, nobody ever said that this wasn't, unfortunately a PC world, but that is only the sad fact it is today because Bill gates stole the Graphic User Interface operating system from Steve Jobs back in the 80's then turned it upside down and called it windows and beat Apple to the worldwide market place by 6 months.

Don't believe me, you can either run out and rent the movie based on a true story of the start of Apple and Microsoft called " The Pirates of Silicon Valley " or go pick up a similar book with the same facts told in the film at your local book store.

Ya' see i hate to burst your bubble but Microsoft never created anything, they bought the DOS operating system from a guy in New Mexico for $50,000 and then they stole the Graphic User Interface from Apple and called it Windows.

Apple, however developed their first operating system themselves and later bought the Graphic User Interface system from Xerox and improved upon it and the MAC OS began.

So please get your facts straight before posting your reply.

GET THIS OUT OF YOUR HEADS. MACS ARE NOT MORE SECURE! THEY ONLY CONTAIN 6% of COMPUTER USERS SO WHY WOULD YOU MAKE A VIRUS FOR IT??? Wouldn't it be SMARTER to make a virus that could affect the other 94% of the computer using population. Why would you make a virus for only 6% of people??? GEEZ mac people are retarded.

LOL @ you being naive enough to think the UI is what sells operating systems. Microsoft got popular by convincing IBM that they would develop their operating system, only to later go off and create their own OS. Google "o/s 2" you may learn something. The entire Gates stole Steve Job's idea is just a romantisized story, based on half truth.

MACs are awful for one reason: they arn't developer friendly. Look at the open source community for example. Look at how many cross platform applications are out there, made by freelancers... the majority of which work on Linux and Windows... wheres the Mac versions? There arn't any, because developers don't give a hoot about Mac's 'closed box' architecture.

Developers make software. Software sells systems.

Who in their right mind would spend thousands of dollars on a system to try and keep up with the latest game system requirements of the latest software when they can just by a console and always have the games working that were made for that particular console.

macmutt

Okay I'm going to make this short and simple since you lack the skill to do some research:

600 bucks U.S.

Newegg.com

Also why the hell would you wish that PC gaming would die? I mean what has PC gaming done to you lately? (Got pwnd at COD4 on PC??). Also without PC gaming you wouldn't have consoles PERIOD, since the manufactures who developed the GPU's inside every current gen console is a major PC hardware company. Also I'm more exicted about PC gaming since I really hate the fact of spending 40 bucks for a year of XBL when I can spend that cash on a new PC/360 title, so I'm going back to pc gaming until xmas..

For a supposedly 32 year old man with supposedly two young children, you sound like you need to go back to highschool and learn some logic.

Just for the record, WE never mentioned anything about Macs. You brought the Mac into the argument.

As for no one caring about PCs, I wish you first world console-playing spoiled brats would come to a third world country like mine, and see just how MILLIONS OF PEOPLE GAME ON PCS. Gaming cafes here in the Philippines are walled up with kids and adults alike playing everything from Ragnarok to Wow, CS:S to DOTA. All for a measely 45 cents (american) an hour.

Are they high-end rigs? No. But are they PCs? Hell yeah.

And same goes for other countries like India, China, Korea, Singapore... How 'bout you use that IT degree of yours to wedge your eyes open a little?

So you skip all the wonderful games on the PC because you hate it? Oh man talk about ridiculous, are you really 38? You sound more like 12. I have two kids myself, two boys who I have introduced to PC gaming, they refuse to play on the Xbox 360, guess what my kids will do in the future, play games on kickass PC gaming rigs and get smart.

Because sitting and playing consoles doesn´t make you smart. Playing and working and learning a PC does.

TreetarD93

Wrong dude, i would never own a PC, i own a nice spec MAC - 2ghz processor, 250gig HD, 128meg-video card, 2gig ram, running OS-X Leopard.

Yeah you PC users have the bigger game libraries out of the two but just try getting them to work properly on Vista.

I thought the ultimate hilarious irony was when i was watching the feed on G4 a few weeks ago and they announced that the new windows O.S. Vista runs best on a Macbook Pro laptop...

Either way this arguement is ancient and no matter which computers people like better my whole point is, i don't use computers for gaming i use them for internet, i.m. chatting, email, photos, videos, music, work and i do all my gaming on a " GAME CONSOLE " because thats what they were made for, enough said.

not only that, but PCs arent even really ment to be for video games, just like having games on a cell phone. the PCs main feature isnt games, they arent meant for games. its dumb that you have to keep upgrading all this crap when you could just buy a convienient little package called a console.

So I should buy a console and then have no games to play on it just because it seems more convienient to you? :D

laughing at the irony or TC being a mac user, and having a grudge towards PC gaming - is that an offense?

I think people here are too sensative.

And quite frankly if I wanted OSX so much, i'd dual boot it on my up comming Q6600. Same goes for Vista.
Mind you I have spent 2 years straight using OSX for graphic design purposes.

jechtshot78

I was turning your post around on you. And Leopard does>>>Vista, so what do I care.

And how effective was it? :|

I dont care if Lepord > Vista. I dont intend on using it.

Quite frankly Games > No games.

Bootcamp bro, Bootcamp. I can play crysis on my macbook pro. Amazing huh?

you can't play it on high. No Mac can.

Abnd really..you can dual-boot OSX on PC also. But really..what's the point? As long as you're a gamer and you've got a bit of experience with Windows OSX offers no real advantages (not enough to recompensate lack of games at least)

I don't think it offers any advantages. Anything that can be done on OSX, can be done on Windows. Graphics design, Sound production, Video editing. The only thing I can see is that OSX is not hacker friendly which if you use your concious brain, you can prevent such things from happening to your PC.

Well...first of all, peope DONT spend thousands of dollars on their computers. A $1.5k computer (or even less) can already get your top of the line gear. If one has a comfortable chair, and their setup is ergonomic then PC gaming can be comfortable too. Also...people who game on PC now adays don't do it on a 14" monitor (wth?), especially if they spend SO much money on their computers :| Also, the reason why people don't camp for "hi-tech" computers is because they usually dont make that. There isn't a standard "high-tech" computer that comes out every once in a while.

hello console noob.

1 a game pc = to a x360 will cost under $500usd and here in nz a x360 level pc hardly costs more than x360 and its much cheaper than ps3

imprezawrx500

You know you could always buy a controller for your pc, connect your pc to an 50" LCD tv, and play it on your couch. And you don't have to spend thousands for a gaming pc at least not in America. Here in NZ however does cost thousands..... Ps3 still cost $1200 CLICK , new release games are $110 so stop complaining about prices. CLICK

Apple fans whine about MS stealing from Apple, but when Apple steals features from PC programs and other OSes(like Workbench in earlu 90s) and adds them to OSX suddenly it's innovation to Mac fans. I really don't have anything against Macs as computers ( even though they;re not suited for my needs), but Mac fans are sometimes simply ridiculus.

Same thing can be said for both sides. You're just colouring the picture in your favour. Having both is always a good thing however. Though I must admit, in only five months Mac OS X has completely won me over. I guess style is very important to me too so that's probably why it's got to me so fast lol.

Lol I'm just trying to give rep to my sexy adventure games. I got scared off by my first helicopter so I'm taking a break from the intensity lol. I don't know why LucasArts stopped making adventure games. There are still fantastic adventure games around but they've lost to mass marketing and such.

There are definitely other great adventure games around but it does seem like ever since LucasArts decided to forgo the adventure game thing and start going all Star Wars on us, that the genre has been slowly but steadily dying. :(

It seems like most gamers these days want some type of quick fix/instant action in their games and don't have the patience for those types of games. I played some of Uncharted, which is a good game, but I think it would have been 20x better if they had added more adventuring and platforming elements and less gunplay. Everyone is comparing it to Indiana Jones, but I don't recall Indy going around guns blazing.

Indy? Damn, the only time I remember that guy really showing off his firepower was when that swordsman wowed him with tricky moves lol. Very pragmatic :D Maybe it's because it's inspired by Tomb Raider, who really is a knock off of Indiana Jones. But that's something entirely different altogether. Yeah that's what I'm thinking. I mean, I don't know about you guys, but when I play FPSes and stuff I can only go for an hour or two before I get bored and have to take a break (with certain exceptions....*cough*). With adventures, I can stay on them for hours on end trying to figure out the puzzles and completely immersing myself in the story. Which reminds me, playing this HP Love-craft inspired game, Darkness Within, it's pretty darn freaky. It's focused on nightmares and the human mind and stuff, and damn, when I went to bed that night I had a nightmare in the vein of what they were on about. Seriously, I don't know how many games can have bragging rights like that lol. But yeah, the last few "high profile" adventures that have come out have been Broken Sword 4, Sam and Max episodes, Sherlock Holmes, and Runaway 2. -sigh-....we need Quantic Dream, makers of Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy to come out with their new title and Funcom to stop screwing around with MMOs and make another new adventure game (recently did beautifully with the Longest Journey games).

This is getting really annoying, and I'm not even going to bother going into detail, just know this, there is nothing stopping you from being able to enjoy pc gaming on you couch with a wireless controller on a 42inch lcd TV. And having up to date hardware is not normally essential to play good looking games, crysis and afew other newer games are the first games in awhile that really force people to upgrade, one you get crysis running good there is no need for a serious up-grade for awhile.

Quantic Dream is, actually! A game called Heavy Rain. Unfortunately, as of now, I think it's a PS3 exclusive (for whatever stupid reason :P) You might've seen pictures posted of it, of a woman crying and such.

The funniest thing about it is that PS3 owners keep showing off these tech demos and pictures of Heavy Rain, as if graphics are even remotely significant in a Quantic Dream game. I just thought that was pretty amusing. Those guys really know how to tell a story. That game will probably be awesome, and it's something for PS3 owners to look forward to. It needs to come to PC, though, dammit.

I've been digging the newer Sam 'n Max games. I've always liked them, ever since Hit the Road, way back in the day. That was probably my favorite adventure game other than Day of the Tentacle and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, in those days. I still mess around with them occasionally, through SCUMM.

Oh yeah that's what I meant: Heavy Rain lol. But yeah I doubt it's gonna stay on the PS3 exclusively, as I don't see any reason to buck the trend of being a third party exclusive. I just hope they make it to PC. Oh good. At least some PC Gamers still go back to the good ol' days of adventure gaming :D. Thought they all lost out to the flashiness of the FPS genre lol. I've heard about SCUMM, but I've never used it before. For some reason, the games I've played of yesteryear didn't seem too bad playing when they launch themselves, although I admit I saw some visual glitches. I got the whole Season 1 pack of Sam and Max. I've yet to finish it though. For some reason, I'm more attracted to the recent European whodunnit games. Just feels different and pretty cool since it's all low-budget and all. Oh snap, I forgot another high profile adventure game. But it's not on the PC, 360, or PS3. It's Phoenix Wright; Ace Attorney!!!! lol. Wait a minute, I just realized that I own a DS.....right, that means a trip to EB Games tomorrow  :D.

not only that, but PCs arent even really ment to be for video games, just like having games on a cell phone. the PCs main feature isnt games, they arent meant for games.

TreetarD93

Sorry, but this is the strangest thing I read in this thread. What IS PC main feature?

I may go around talking about Crysis like it's the second coming (and I honestly do believe it's a spectacular game), but I'm a huge fan of nearly every game genre out there. :P What might be weird for a PC gamer, I guess, is I'm not really into simulations. Like, well, Flight Simulator is a good example. Just never really got into them. They're not my style.

But really, other than that, there isn't a genre out there I don't like. It's the reason why I've always had consoles, even though i consider myself primarily a PC gamer since I game on my PC a lot more than I do consoles, generally speaking. But the PC definitely has weaknesses when it comes to genres like JRPGs, platformers, fighting games, and sports games, all of which I like a lot (especially JRPGs). Hell, I've come to find out that it's apparently "strange" to love JRPGs as much as you love WRPGs, but I definitely do. I consider them different genres because they can be strikingly different, but that just makes it all the better for me. They each offer something that the other doesn't.

Have you gotten Mass Effect yet? Such an awesome game. I bought a 360 last December mainly for ME and I don't regret it in the slightest. There will probably be a PC version eventually but I don't think it'll be for a while, unless Bioware decides to have Obsidian or whoever do the port. Bioware is quite busy at the moment, with Dragon Age for the PC (which will probably be awesome) and most likely Mass Effect 2, considering they're somehow supposed to release the trilogy within the 360's life span (which will be tough).

Lol.

Translation: boohoo i cant afford a decent pc!

Sorry but the pc market has been revitalised in the last couple of years. No matter whati buy for my 360, the pc has kept me more occupied than anything else.

macmutt

Wrong dude, i would never own a PC, i own a nice spec MAC - 2ghz processor, 250gig HD, 128meg-video card, 2gig ram, running OS-X Leopard.

Either way this arguement is ancient and no matter which computers people like better my whole point is, i don't use computers for gaming i use them for internet, i.m. chatting, email, photos, videos, music, work and i do all my gaming on a " GAME CONSOLE " because thats what they were made for, enough said.

im the same. people who complain about macs being too expensive must just be poor. theres nothing wrong with that, but they should understand that there are people who are better off, and dont value money as highly as themselves.

Hehe, well, according to VandalVideo, the lack of JRPGs, platformers, fighting games and the lacklustre sports games aren't weaknesses per se, because PC Gamers don't want them...... Sorry, I just love beating the most retarded comments on System Wars to death lol. No, I don't have Mass Effect yet, but I will be getting it soon. Depends on how fast this Guitar Hero II-for-five-games trade is going to happen. So once I get those five games, I'll just send them EB's way for Mass Effect lol. But yeah, I heard it was a pretty damn good game despite the minor flaws. I don't know how Bioware is going to release all three games within the lifespan of the 360. Either they're hoping the 360 will last for over five more years or they may just screw gameplay content and concentrate solely on story to drive the other sequels -- both of which I doubt. They got so many games on their plate and their team is spread thin so there's no way the whole trilogy is going to be in by the time the 360 is dead. Same with Too Human. I betcha we may just get Mass Effect 2 and then the third one will be on the next Xbox. Kinda like Halo 3. In fact, I'm betting you even Assassin's Creed will go that route too.

Who in their right mind would spend thousands of dollars on a system to try and keep up with the latest game system requirements of the latest software when they can just by a console and always have the games working that were made for that particular console.

I build a new pc about once every three - four years. The good thing is that a PC can be used for so much more then a game console

Not to mention the comfort of console playing, just sitting back on a couch or recliner with a wireless controller in front of a big screen TV in 5.1 dolby surround sound playing what ever game you put in the console mere seconds after you put it in.

I can sit in my swivling tiliting high backed leather chair listening to 7.1 dolby surround... very comfy i can assure you

As opposed to sitting uncomfortably in front of a 14 to 20 inch monitior hunched over a keyboard and mouse waiting for the system to boot up, then waiting for the game to load, and then hoping you don't get any freeze ups or pop ups due to other software or hardware confliction.

I do not hunch, i actually slouch in a very comfortable position (not health wise) and stare at my 2ms samsung 226bw 22inch monitor. Arms resting on a nice Jarrah finish desk, feet up on the sub beneath me

Besides it's no coincidence that no matter what gamestore you go into PC games have the smallest localized shelving like right in the center of the floor that takes up all of 4ft-w x 5ft-ht of store space, while all the console games line all the walls and take up the remainder of floor space.

here in AUS PC has the largest selection at JBHIFI, at least they do in whitfords.

I just wish PC gaming would die off already, you never see anyone lining up outside stores when an new hi-tech computer comes out, but when a new consoles released their camped outside for days and literally racing for the register to get their new console.

You dont see people lining up for new computers because they are smart and dont buy packages. They buy and install the best value and best suited hardware for their needs. Also as far as hardware popularity goes, the Nvidia 8800gt sells out at www.ple.com.au in a matter of 2 hours every tuesday, and this is now 4 weeks running. Why line up when we can buy online? in our comfy air chairs anyways?

Sorry but facts are facts and people just aren't excited anymore over PC gaming.

You have not stated a single fact, that was all opinion. type into google "define: fact"
The first entry is:

a piece of information about circumstances that exist or events that have occurred; "first you must collect all the facts of the case"
a statement or assertion of verified information about something that is the case or has happened; "he supported his argument with an impressive array of facts"
an event known to have happened or something known to have existed; "your fears have no basis in fact"; "how much of the story is fact and how much fiction is hard to tell"
a concept whose truth can be proved; "scientific hypotheses are not facts"

macmutt

I love Flight Sim X. It's off my computer right now, but since my mate wants to be a commercial air pilot, he told me everything about flying planes and a flight from Auckland to Shanghai can be fun, even in real time . Takes a toll on your power bill though :|
