[QUOTE="themajormayor"][QUOTE="PAL360"]

Going by this thread, it´s one of the most overhated games ever made!

PAL360

And deservedly so

Maybe you are playing it on the wrong platform

Personaly, it´s the most entertaining singleplayer game i played this gen. My only complain is the dificulty. It´s too easy, even on master dificulty level, dragon encounters and magic artifacts, armors, etc, should be more rare and, of course, some minor bugs.

I have it on PC. But I play on PS3 cause of the controller, HDTV and couch. Performance & graphics are excellent(no screen tear, excessive loading, jaggies, bad sound etc like the 360 version). Too bad I can't say the same about the gameplay :( So in conclusion you've either only played one single player game this gen or your parents are related.

You know better RPGs than those ?

Demon's Souls for example. And we're not talking about only RPGs here but about ALL GAMES

Dark Souls is a million times better though, so why bother mention it ?

I post the best of their kind, not anything below, Witcher 2, Fable 2-3, Dark SOuls are top in their kind

No it is a million times worse. Very disappointing after such a superb game like Demon's Souls. Since Demon's Souls is a PS3 exclusive you, as the lem you are, will automatically give it undeserved criticism. So your opinion doesn't count.

World of Warcraft's art direction is vomit-inducingly bad, though.

Still miles better than Skyrim's.

Im not sure what my parents have to do with my gaming experience! Well, their opinion did matter when they game me a Nes but that was long ago...

I really like Skyrim and im playing it on 360. Mass Effect 1 and RDR are my second and third favourite sp games this gen, and let me guess, according to you, they are all crap :o

Going by this thread, it´s one of the most overhated games ever made!

I wouldn't call it overhated, it just seems that way given the way the thread is framed.

For example, take just about any flawed game (say...LA Noire? Alone in the Dark? Skyrim?) and ask people if it's one of the best games of all time, and you'll get a ton of responses saying "nope, the gameplay/fetch-quests/writing/etc sucked". It'll seem like the game is the most hated game ever, but in reality, it'd just be getting a lot of negative criticism because of the unwarranted extremely high praise.

(...and now that I think about it, those were pretty poor examples - LA Noire and Alone in the Dark were both innovative and highly ambitious, despite their issues)

If you're not sure about that then- nvm... I've never played ME1 but ME2 and indeed RDR was crap. I like GAMES with good GAMEplay. You need to play more GAMES. Like Demon's Souls.

It's good... but for some reason I haven't played it for 2 days... and I have a lot to do yet.

Maybe thats it, that it feels a bit like a chore to play. I still like it though.

Until Elder Scrolls ditches the fast travel system, it won't beat what it did in Morrowind. That said, Skyrim is a great game, very ambitious, easy to get caught up in for incredible amounts of times, but not one of the best ever imo.

Theres a lot of reasons to say yes, and only a couple reasons to say no. In my experience, its the deepest game I've ever played. Not only does it have that depth, but it uses it very well. The game is gorgeous considering its scale, and the combat isn't half bad (not perfect, but fun). Yet, I hesitate to put it in front of Dark Souls for my game of the year. I can't really explain it, Dark Souls just pulled me in a way I haven't been pulled before. I wouldn't balk if someone said its the best game they've ever played, but I'm not sure I can come to the same conclusion.

You have the wrong idea of what "depth" means in gaming. Skyrim is unarguably one of the shallowest games to ever reach AAA status. There's *nothing* in it that actually has depth.

I gotta say... it is kind of like playing a game with cheat mode enabled.

I'm still amazed that I don't need to repair armor/weapons.

Does Skyrim have a release date yet?

I was one of the many that paid $60 for early Beta access on November 11th, 2011. While Beta testing the game has been really fun and all, I'm still greatly anticipating the release of the finished game. Has Bethesda announced an official release date for Skyrim yet?

Pretty sure its a widely known scientific fact? If you find evidence to refute the claim, let me know. Obviously, you must have a lot of time, given your lack of genitalia.

If you have no taste, maybe.

DraugenCP

Skyrim's landscape are a bunch of prairies, mountains and snow. World of Warcraft's landscapes cover oceanic tides, fire storms, glaciers and snowlands, jungles, barrens, volcanic grounds, lush forests and haunted forests and magic forests, scourged lands, farmlands, marshes, deserts and mountains without even counting the cities.

All Skyrim's armor are (perhaps, an optimistic estimation) one tenth as varied and colored as World of Warcraft's SETS ALONE, without counting the rest of the armor and weapons there are in game.

There's just no way to say Skyrim has a better artstyle, not even the most rabid and ignorant fanboy could ever even fathom the idea of comparing their artstyles because WoW's is just superior

WoW is a generic fantasy setting with poisonous colours. Variation does not equal good art direction.

Skyrim combines a ton of artistic elements and combines them into a believable setting. The basis is medieval Europe of course, but the game has much more fleshed-out (compared to previous ES installments) references to the Roman Empire, Clan Scotland, pre-christian Scandinavia, prehistory and even Metroid Prime-like high tech environments. How they managed to combine such vastly different cultural/artistic elements in one setting without anything seeming out of place is truly impressive. But I guess I'm just a rabid fanboy.

Depends which forum you are in. I seen some game forums where practically everybody calls it overrated and average at best. On GS forums people love Skyrim. I'm 12 hours in myself and think its really good so far.

Two sets of armor plus one helmet (roman shields weren't like the one in game by the way) is a fleshed out reference to the roman empire?

Wow...just wow. As a person who lives five hundred kilometers away from Rome itself I could take that as an insult lol.

What's fleshed out about the "high tech" dwemer ruins or prehistory? The fact that there are a few prehistoric animals and a bunch of scribbled rocks makes for a fleshed out prehistoric environment? Seriously?

And what's out of place in WoW?

We aren't saying it's not good, just that it doesn't come near the title of one of the best games ever made.

I wasn't even talking about armour, but rather the whole idea of how the Tamriel empire is structured in this game, such as the whole conflict between separatist Nords and Imperials, religious and racial tensions, etc. The political complications of being an empire are much more prominent than they were in Oblivion, hence why it's more fleshed-out.

The fleshed-out comment referred solely to the Roman Empire part for the aforementioned reasons. The prehistoric elements are not very prominent, but they are there and I think it's admirable how the game is able to create a prehistoric vibe in one area, yet transfer to a Highland atmosphere seamlessly a bit further. It feels like one big world with many different elements, and not a fragmented world divided into different regions (like for example Twilight Princess).

The problem with WoW is not that anything is out of place as much as it offers a world with the same uncreative fantasy stuff you'd expect, not to mention that the oversaturated colours make it look dreadful from an aesthetic point of view.

easily one of the best games ever made. it totally deserves its 17th place of all time game score on metacritic.

too bad it shows off so many of the weaknesses of the ps3 and gets an unending stream of cow hate.
