Well MAG was an exclusive to the PS3 they had all that space of the blu-ray to utilize...i am referring to muktiplats. Would they release a game and then hold back content as DLC because it wouldnt fit on a DVD but surely would on a blu-ray?
Not the dinosaur hardware format DVD.
Nor the 360 itself.
It's the 360 user base, since most of them are willing to be robbed of 40$ to 60$ anually for online gaming (redundant since you already pay for broadband internet access alread) they are pretty much willing to be robbed of money on other things. Like content that was supposed to be on the disc already but cut out and sold seperately as DLC to make more profit out of it. All those gimmicks like EXCLUSIVE DLC!!, lemming cry's for more content, ''avatar clothes'', day 1 DLC caused this mess nowadays. I really hope the next iteration of a M$ console will be digital distribution consisting of ''Purchase level/chapter 2 to continue'' at prices of car rental fee's with offcourse the propriatary M$ HDD's. (360) gamers who buy DLC already shot themselves in the foot.
this cracked the top 10 dumbest things ive ever heard on these boards. with your logic, MAG should have a couple hundred mapsshadow8585

NO. Cmon man work it out for yourself.
They make you pay for it because that equals more $...it has nothing to do with technical limitations etc.

O ya dude i see your point....I might have worded my post wrong! I'm not implying ALL DLC or even most is bc of that limitation. But do you think that a devloper WOULD do that...case in point FF13 where there wasn't inteneded DLC, but it clearly says that DLC MAY happen on the box...get me?

What?!
How can you generalise every 360 owner as a fool whos " willing to be robbed of 40 to 60 quid a year.."??
Your goin on about lemmings but mate seriously, read back what you wrote and you'll see you sound like a very bitter cow...
PS3 owners have to pay for DLC too so I don't know why you're excluding them and mentioning just 360 owners..
Yup, it was MS's plan all along, that's why they force dev's to charge for content on live, and charge to play online, and over charge for accessories. They are breaking in the market to milk their costumers as much as possible. They don't care about making great games or pushing the medium forward, they just want to make money. They have no vision whatsoever.

Right, think I'm with ye..
I reckon they put that there in case the game wasn't successfull ( altho I can hardly imagine FF13 NOT being successful )
I.E. theres no point developing and releasing DLC nobodys gonna buy...
As for holding the DLC back, I'm sure they could have stuck it on one of the 360s 3 discs I suppose. I doubt they wanted it like that tho...
they just want more money like everybody else..
they do happen to be a company you know. So Sony does not do that?
Let me remind you of a time that Sony said that Rumble was obsolete, and Sixaxis was the future. People brought sixaxis controllers, and then the Dualshock 3 was released. Isn't that milking.
Also, I didn't know that Lair and Haze were great, or pushing gaming forward........

Nope sixaxisis still here and awesome and with rumble, they said that because they were in a lawsuit and you aren't forced to by a dualshock 3, I know people that don't even like rumble. One used the money to buy DLC, timed exclusivity and market, the other uses it to fund and push games like Heavy Rain, and Flower. One rips you off whereever it can the other has been selling it's console at a loss for 5 years.[QUOTE="N00bTuber"]

I see all your points...but its not really what im trying to get to...I know MS just like Sony push DLC at some point to make money...I mean they are both in the business to make money and im sure Nintendo would do it if they could.
But the issue that is bothering me is sort of with massive titles that take up a lot space. Given that obviously devs dont want to release a game with multiple discs...if they made a game and had tons planned for it...but knew it would not fit on a single dics on the 360...would they release the game with SOME of the original game cut out...and then release the DLC and make you pay more for it...and do the same with PS3 only to keep things FAIR for both systems.
I just want peoples opinions on if they think that they would do it

Get a grip mate, DLC was headed our way ever since the console has launched and its been happening on the PC for YEARS...its a wee little thing that just might shape media distribution and playback of the future - Digital Distribution...Jesus, we'll be lucky if DVDs and even the mighty(?) Disc space has got nothing to do with it. It's PROFIT, which pushes developers to the DLC strategy. And before anybody goes off into their "it should have already been on the disc" rant, let me say that more often comes down to consipracy theories. Production schedules and budgets for what can be created within a time frame and at a certain cost are realities which limits all developers. This is not to say they use DLC to recoup their overhead, but that many levels, missions, chapters, and what not are ordinarily cut out of games due to time and budget constraints.
People compare DLC to the extras on movie DVDs. The difference is that those deleted scenes were actually filmed when the movie was originally made and then cut for what ever editing reasons, and later included on DVD. The DLC is produced after the final game and as part of a seperate work schedule and budget, and released accordingly.
There are of course the cases where the DLC is released the same day as the core game, which does lead to suspicious practices.
More recently there has been another motivation for DLC, one which I support. And that's Day 1 DLC which is FREE, and simply placed as DLC for incentive to buy new instead of used. All devs want revenue from the games they made and not to lose that potential income to the 2nd hand market where its the middle man *coughgamestopcough* who co-opts that profit. This is fair and reasonable for all sides.

Its hardly MSs fault if particular devs want to produce poor DLC and sell it for crazy prices..
DLC on consoles has been around since the days of the first Xbox ( not gonna include the DC ) because XBL was the first successful online network..
Do you think Sony wouldn't have allowed DLC on the PS2 if the PSN then wasn't so shoddy and there was a Hard Drive on the console...??
I think you'd be singing a different tune if it was the other way around
Well MS forced Valve to charge for L4D DLC on xbl, and heres proof http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/l4d1-dlc-pricing-not-valves-decision
There are two differences...one game is total crap (It starts with Ever...) and the other one is awesome...
Crap games don't deserve attention anyhow and should be boycotted by default.

It still nullifies your point that only MS charge extortioate prices for DLC.
Or whatever you were trying to get across.
See, I just don't buy this argument. It's not redundant. It's only in addition to but little dweebs like to pretend that because they pay for one thing they shouldn't have to pay for anything else. Unfortunately, they've yet to learn an important life lesson. People play MMO's and pay out the yin yang. More than they pay for live. What is it, 12-15 a month as opposed to, what 4 dollars a month? And "avatar" clothes is nothing new. Any MMO or free game online has done stuff like that in the past. It isn't by any means unique to Live and it had been popular before then. Blame Gaia Online or Second Life for instilling these needs in people. Blame MMO players. So, you see, your argument falls apart. It isn't by any means the 360's fault or 360 players but rather people as a whole. They get what they want and they've always wanted downloadable content and avatar clothes.[QUOTE="Locutus_Picard"]

(360) gamers who buy DLC already shot themselves in the foot.AncientDozer
These are exactly the points that I've been trying ( and failing, apparently) to get across to this fella...
All I needed was your articulation (?) :P.
Not the dinosaur hardware format DVD.
Nor the 360 itself.

It's different with MMO's. Have you ever played an MMO? Every 1 to 2 months they release new game content that actually affects the game. Adds new weapons, dungeons etc. Whereas, if you're buying avatar clothes on 360... Either you have a lot of money you don't know what to do with, or you're just stupid.
Also, the 50(or 40 or whatever you pay) dollar a year fee just to PLAY games online on 360 is a shot to the dome for consumer freedom already. People actually pay it too, it's sad. Already you're paying for the internet, why should you have to pay again to actually use it?
Yeah, but you don't have to pay 50 bucks a year to actually play those maps online... So in reality, who is spending more money?KZ2, first party, 2 maps, ~$6
so no.
it's a universal practice.

KZ2 has a dwindling community. I've already seen that there is difficulty involved with just playing certain game modes. so I'm sure splitting the community through DLC only helps even more.
at least I'd get to play, and the modes I want.
