ignoring the fact PC gaming destroys all console online
live is clearly better i dont noe how u can say psn is better besides the fact its free
live isnt much better then live...just a little
if halo 3 wasnt an exsluive i would use my ps3 for online gaming
Live is a bit better now, but due to the interface, and ability to use it WHILE in game.
Worth the $50? Possibly. That's a good question. But, would my 360 be worth it without live? Probably not, at least not to me.
[QUOTE="caleb5050"]i have 360 live, so i know all of it's features, what are playstation networks features?jbz7890
Its main feature is zero lag.
You need to do more research on the online play for the PS3.no but the PS3 is a pos with no games
buy a PC instead
the_h_bomb
you havent played a ps3 have you?
*sigh*
dissing something you havent played....sad
[QUOTE="musicalmac"]Am I the only one who realizes how insignificant 50US$ a year is?goodlay
No, I do. That isn't even 5 dollars a month, its a great deal for such a great online service.
Try Steam. It's free and is easily comparable to LIVE. Paying for P2P is ridiculous (especially considering MS then charges us for map packs and themes). The only thing MS has going for them is that the individual games are pretty fun. I just try not to think about what kind of nickle and diming I'm endorsing.
Am I the only one who realizes how insignificant 50US$ a year is?musicalmacYeah no kidding. Its the best $50 I spend every year.

But what about when u have multiple people sharing one XBOX a la my household...
it then becomes 150 bucks per 3 unique gamertags...
and 50 bucks was already pushing it too far for one when PS3 offers a perfectly satisfactory experiance for free
"But what about.." is an unproductive way to discuss things. I don't see how this is relevant to the thread.does anybody have some comparisons they would like to shier?caleb5050
Yes every good game so far on ps3 has had huge multiplayer problems not experianced on the 360. I have both consoles and if its a multiplait game I buy it for the 360, for online play.

To be fair, you can all game under one game tag, having the guest feature.I don't have to. If you don't find it to be a good deal, don't pay for it. It's really not my job to try and convince someone who is dead set against believing the total opposite. This is not important to me. The thread is about "is it worth it", not a pissing contest of "is it better". I feel an insignificant 50 dollars a year is completely worth the services it provides me.PSN - I play online multiplayer for free
XBL - I pay 50 bucks for online multiplayer on P2P
explain how XBL is now a better deal

You can have a guest play with you for free on xbox live. Thats 2 people..... Do you want 3 xboxes in different rooms all playing aginst eachother at the same time? If you can afford 3 hd tvs, 3 xbox 360'syou shouldnt be worried about a few dollars a month go cry elsewhere

The thing available on xbl far outweigh PSN. The PSN networks lacks polish and navigating it is a chore. Free is great, but you do get what you pay for.[QUOTE="GIJames248"][QUOTE="goodlay"][QUOTE="musicalmac"]Am I the only one who realizes how insignificant 50US$ a year is?musicalmac

Sorry I speed readed your post expecting another crybaby post but now... I see your point.
Is 50 dollars a year that much of hole in your pocket :|
Its a better overrall system, in every aspect.

"But what about.." is an unproductive way to discuss things. I don't see how this is relevant to the thread. He's actually on topic so his post is perfectly valid. Fortunately yours is to, but I thought that I would point that out so that you don't call any other valid points "unproductive" just because they raise interesting, if rare, issues.
I just got an xbox LIVE account and my sister plays on the 360 to. I am guessing by the above post that there is no way for here to share my online account on her own gamertag. Bummer.
I was pointing out that it wasn't thread-relative. It has nothing to do with the fact that every person who wants a unique gamertag must pay 50 a year to get it.He's actually on topic so his post is perfectly valid. He's listing an obvious feature (sharing an online connection on single console amongst multiple accounts) that is missing from a paid service that certainly affects its value to a number of users (at least myself and the other poster). I fail to see how that doesn't have some effect upon the relative value of xbox LIVE compared to PSN which is what the thread is about.

Breaking that down like that doesn't have much bearing on the bigger picture. The question- is the price worth the service when compared to PSN. I say yes. If you say no, and the reason is you can't pay 50USD for multiple gamertags, that's your opinion. Even then it's not really relevant. He's listing an obvious feature (sharing an online connection on single console amongst multiple accounts) that is missing from a paid service that certainly affects its value to a number of users (at least myself and the other poster). LIVE uses a guest feature that allows up to 3 additional people playing on the same account. You see it in Halo3 all the time.
Assuming you didn't read the rest of the thread, I'll sum it up for you. 50 dollars a year to play games online (plus the other services) is insignificant if you can afford to buy the console itself. One reason I will never own a 360. If M$ is going to charge the consumer to play games they can keep the system.
