This board has been a real head scratcher the past couple months. Last console generation Sony fanboys mocked Xbox fanboys because of subscription fees but now I am reading posts about how "The PS4 subscription fees will be worth it". Last generation multiplats didn't matter but now "The PS4 will have the best multiplats." And when PC fanboys would throw out the PS3's low ram or Xbox fanboys would brag about their GPU specs didn't matter. But now we all have to hear about that 8gb of GDDR5 in every thread. Sony fanboys need to be careful this coming generation. The PS4 looks great so far but I think you need to chill on the hype a little. The hype on this forum is reaching the PS4>Jesus levels. Last gen Lems were all about graphics (due to the Xbox having the better hardware), and cows were all about gameplay.

Now it's the exact opposite. Lems are all about gameplay (due to the PS3 being the better hardware), and cows are all about graphics (I guess to make up for last gen).

Fanboys flip flop all the time. No type of fanboy is worse/better than the other.

What else do people Hype ? WiiU Curently is a joke, *According To Rumors* the Xbox720 is a joke, Sheep have jumped back on the 3DS Wagon now that its doing well. Vita is a Joke.

'Hype' isn't the most accurate word to use in the case of a console. People have more expectations on the games for the console rather than the console itself. A game can overdeliver and underdeliver, but a console is just there for people to play games on.

In this respect, word of mouth is very important to a console, While you call it hype, this so called hype actually generates worth of mouth for the console. As such, people hear and talk about it, and subsequently, will be more inclined to buy it due to product awareness.

I know a console can underdeliver in features and power, but usually it's the games which determine the reception of a console.

Nope. There's modest hype , mostly from the expected. There's a huge sigh of relief right now.   

• Modest specs - (powerful enough , but more affordable)
• Controller improvements/additions
• Online improvements/additions
• Guerrilla , Sucker Punch , Japan Studio , and Evolution starting out
• Easy to develop for
• Promise of quicker and more painless system functionalities 
• Headset included 
• PS+ will continue
• Vita compatibility

It shows a willingness (and neccessity) to improve , but I think the REAL driving force is the satisfaction from PS3 owners and the faith in Sony to support their consoles. They have the studios and a keen eye for publishing some cool things on top of that studio base. 

Here we are all these years later ..... happy with the PS3 as predicted , and absolutely thrilled of what's coming next from Sony with The Last of Us , Puppeteer , Beyond Two Souls , and maybe more (Gran Turismo 6). I don't see much changing in the next gen. We expect it. We demand it.

The main infastructure of Playtation looks good at the moment. 

• Kaz - Head of the entire company now - (overseer of Playstation)
• House - Head of Playstation
• Yoshida - Head of Worldide Studios
• Cerny - System architect , tools guru , software consultant , game director , artist , philosopher , prophet , and alleged demi-god

They've all been though all the ups and downs at Playstation , and often times were at the mercy of Ken Kutaragi and the bigshots at Sony Corp with some of the decisions that they made or went along with. That doesn't seem to be the case any longer. They have been listening to their consumers , and the dev community, They are all working together on this.
