That should tell you right there how truly significant it is and will be. The fact of the matter is that 8gb of UNIFIED gddr5 ram is simply going to have many advantages... Along with the powerful and wholey effiecent cpu+gpu in the PS4, That is going to make the PS4 a truly next generation platform I.e meaning the PS4 will be highly efficient and will provide to be very powerful for gaming specific tasks and gaming means, And that it will be able to hit all its peak performances far more effortlessly then any other console etc. The PS4 will work as a whole (everything in conjuction) everything will flow, and it will be very powerful and efficient for gaming purposes(that's just another way to put it) Now by comparison, The kinect box 720 is heavily rumored to have 8gb of the slowest ram, which that already puts the kinect box 720 at a huge disadvantage to the PS4's gddr5 ram, But here is where it gets even worse for xbots lol, A lot of that slow ram in the kinext box 720 is said to be allowcated to the os and Kinect like features. Where as, only 1 gb of the PS4's 8gb of unified gddr5 ram is allowocated to its os. On top of having much faster ram, the PS4 will have much more of that faster ram to use for GAMING purposes etc. So all in all, You are going to see that the PS4 is going to have SIGNIFICANT advantages over the Kinect box 720 when it comes to every thing that matters in graphics and performance etc. So in other words, When it comes to actual game performance and what games look like and how games play like, the PS4 is going to soundly out perform the Kinect box 720 in every way. Any body in the know-how is aware of the fact that the PS4 is going to be significantly more powerful then the Kinect box 720. And also judging by how the past several years have went- With Sony's focus on games, and the pedigree of their first party studios, We know PS4 exclusives will simply be much better, that there will be more of them(more at a higher quality) and that there will be a more diverse selection of those awesome PS exclusives.... Seriously can a new console really be over hyped?? I mean no matter if your a xbox gamer or a playstation gamer, the next 6 or so years these are the machines will be playing on, it's not like a game where it can be over hyped and then comes out and is shockingly bad. i believe what has been shown for the ps4 is very impressive for the next step in consoles, 8 ggdr ram is important for developers to create games without thinking about ram, the pc like components is all but going to help pc gamers, because games are being designed with pc in mind, so more developers will release games on pc. i don't believe people are saying sony's subscription fee is going to be worth it's more the fact you look at xbox and how much you have to pay just to play games online, compared to sony's ps+ which is offering the same as xbox live but with the option to get good games for free, which is an incentive to stay. what does xbox live offer, does it give away free games?? as much as sony do, no and for myself all i care about is playing games online and sony allows that for free i don't need all the other little bits you get with xbox live, i just want to game. the internet connection is good and i've had no lag ever, and the only ever lag i have had is from the game company servers and not through lag from sony's end and it's free.
ps4 looks great, the games what have been shown look good, the facebook and social media stuff look great for people who like that but that's only a side line thing. the ps4 is just a very positive console for both gamers and developers. here's hoping that the roamers for the xbox aren't true and we see a fresh look or if they do go down the route as a kinect/tv/games console.Â
