Is the Wii irrelevant to SW?

Yes, I am well aware that this is System wars, not PS3 vs 360 wars or PC vs Console wars. That still doesn't make it easy to compare a scooter to a pair of sports cars.

For me, the Wii isn't a game console, its a toy. Even Nintendo clearly states that its a toy company, not a videogame company. Yes, we are all aware that the Wii sells. But so do watermellons, and I don't see people comparing succulent mellons to game consoles either.

I like my Wii. I think its got some great diversions on it like Wii Sports, which I will dust off on occasion. I plan on getting Wii fit for my wife because she likes to do Yoga, and it would help legitimize getting a Wii since the "games" surely don't do that.

It just seems pointless to include the Wii in System Wars. If we do, that just opens the floodgates for other pointless things to compare to game consoles, like alarm clocks and digital wrist watches.

There is $10 between new games on the 360 and the Wii. Not really a huge deal.

the 360 is a classic game console that pushes nothing new and has longevity issues

sorry but the PC will always have the most and best games including best versions of multiplats

if you have a pc or ps3 or 360 you dont need any of the other just one, but if you dont have a wii you miss out on a lot of great games

EDIT PC gaming also runs from everything like the Witcher (which is pretty tough for non-gamers to play) right through to card games. Its very hard to quantify.

What is 'my console'? You see your point about the elderley people, you have proved me correct. How can you compare PC system sales to PS3/360 & Wii sales? A PC is far more complex system which is owned by 100's millions of people with majority who don't even use them for games so how is it fair if you compare a system like that to a games machine?

yes, and if you look beyond the casual titles, the Wii has some very strong games. admittedly, recent offerings have been slim, but i think late '08 and '09 look promising with madworld, fatal frame 4, a revamped punch out, tecmo bowl, and a castlevania title, just to name a few (notice i only included one nintendo first party franchise).

look, i understand the Wii bashing around here. if you bought a Wii for multiplats, online, or shooters (which is still debatable, as MP3 was probably the best FPS ive played since half-life 2), then you made a bad choice. however, if you bought a Wii for casual appeal (yep, that's not necessarily a bad thing; the Wii is an absolute blast at parties, and i can't say the same for my PS3 or 360), ninty's always excellent 1st party titles, and the quirky and often great 3rd party exclusives, you won't be dissapointed.

oh, and really, talk to ANY corporation, and do you know what they will tell you is the number one priority. you guessed it, profit. the Wii makes the most money, the Wii is winning. sorry if you don't like the game selection, but that's just business.

Of course you heard about sales back then, it makes sense to compare two consoles on sales when they're very similar. Even though I would prefer to compare systems by their quality, sales in that way is perfectly fine. What you can't do though, is compare sales of a console that targets a completely different audience to consoles that target a more traditional hardcore audience. You still see PS3 and 360 being compared by sales and no one complains about this because it makes sense, but you can't toss Wii in here when the majority of the people who purchased Wii don't have an interest in non-casual consoles.

Have you wondered why almost every single Wii commercial shows a family playing casuals games together? Real gamers are not their main concern any more, they're secondary to the new audience.
